4 nights we stayed at the palazzo, amazing atmosphere, full of history, very well kept. absolutely lovable host, helping us with anything from trips to restaurants. very big room with a lovely view into the garden, very quiet. room and bathroom well equipped, good bed, excellent housekeeping. dining and living room to our availability. fabulous breakfasts (meeting all our special wishes) ... in a sum: making us feel a little bit like royalty ourselves. perfect stay.
The Palazzo Lantieri offers a unique experience rather than simply a bed for the night. We were met by the Contessa who made us welcome and showed us to our accommodation which amounted to a suite with a large (and it proved, a comfortable) bedroom, similar size sitting room, and a more than adequate bathroom. Despite having 150 French students camping in her gardens over night (they were as quiet as mice, even when they left at 5.00 am) she gave us her full attention and confirmed arrangements that we would eat in her recommended restaurant in Gorizia. All the rooms in the Palazzo were furnished with elegance and style, with many interesting, striking and beautiful works of art to enjoy. When we arrived at the restaurant, the cook came from the kitchen to offer us a special menu based on a selection of local delicacies, which provide both instructive and delicious, and when we has finished, the restaurant proprietor drove us back to the Palazzo in his car. After a most enjoyable breakfast served in a magnificent dining room the next morning, the Contessa offered to show us around the property. This must have taken over an hour, as we inspected the frescos, ceramic tiled rooms, the Persian influenced garden and the many other rooms filled with family portraits and other worlds from the distant past, alongside the Contessa's imaginative recent additions of contemporary art works. It was a most enjoyable morning and a real experience for our holiday. I recommend the lintier Palazzo to anyone whose main motive in seeking accommodation is pleasure and intellectual stimulus.…
While "only" a bed and breakfast, this is a charming property - a real palace in the centre of Gorizia where many generations of the same family have lived and with an interesting history - almost a small museum. Beautiful antiques and paintings everywhere. The welcome was warm and genuine, the people charming and helpful, the room comfortable and the breakfast as good as it gets. We particularly enjoyed the quiet environment - no big screen TV, no WiFi and other distractions. Brilliant.
