Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hostel was a great place to stay. It is attractively furnished, and spotless. The common areas - kitchen, dining room and lounge - were the perfect places to make a meal or a snack and spread out your maps/tour guides to plan your day. There is plenty of parking. It is a quick walk to town for dinner or a pint.

Hostel was very basic but clean and allowed us to stay about a 5 min walk from the where the skellig boat tours depart from. Receptionist was friendly and helpful, and check in/out was easy. Slightly noisy room as the walls are very thin and we were above the living room. But after 11pm it was fine.

We stayed here for 2 nights in August 2018. The hostel was well located for our trip to Skellig Michael - a short walk down to Portmagee Marina. The rooms were clean and tidy. You must remember to switch on the hot water in your bedroom for your shower otherwise it will be cold. The lounge and kitchen were great. The bed was very comfy. Alex the Manager was helpful and left us bath towels hanging on our door after we requested them. For the money, location and facilities this place was great. My only complaint is that there is virtually no soundproofing - I could hear the muffled conversation of other guests in other rooms whilst sat in my room.

Stayed hostel this week and booked through booking.com Booked a double with own bathroom. Room Clean and bright. Bed quite comfortable Only stayed one nigh so didn’t use kitchen. Has a common room with tv and pool table. Can be a bit noisy with creaking of doors and floor boards and turning of keys in doors due to the hollowness created by all the floor boards

We arrived tired and dirty after a long bike ride to find an accommodating manager named Alex. Our room was comfy and adequate, and we spent a pleasant night there. Alex did our washing for us and was up until after 10pm taking care of it. The next day he kept our luggage safe while we went to the Skellig islands until we took off again. All in all a pleasant overnight experience. Thanks Alex.

We really enjoyed our stay overall. Check-out was super simple (just leave your key in the door and go). Beds were fine. Rooms were clean. Very simple layout and look. The toilet tank took a long time to refill; so if you flushed once, you couldn't flush again for ten minutes or so.

We enjoyed our stay here. Room was big enough to store all our luggage, baby stroller etc. Kitchen is well equiped and the view of the bay is nice. Water pressure in the shower was lousy but all and all good value for money. Also nice that they didn't charge us for the towels.

This is a welcoming place. It was quiet and the rooms are comfortable and clean. You can prepare meals in the communal kitchen and eat in the pleasant dining area. I had a private bathroom which was also clean.
