The Moorings was a very cozy B&B. Its bar/restaurant served delicious food. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The only reason for four stars instead of five is that the beds are pretty hard. If not for that one issue, we’d give five stars.
The Moorings was recommended to us by a couple we encountered while on a motorcycle tour of the Ring of Kerry. We sat outside as it was a nice day and we had the seafood chowder as recommended. Did not disappoint as it was one of the best chowders I have had and lots of seafood in it. Can't vouch for the rest of the menu but I'm sure it is just as good.
What a lovely spot! Our friends recommended this place to us. We stayed here the night before the Skellig Michael Eco boat tour. The room was comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast the next morning was spot on. Highly recommend!
Just spent the weekend at The Moorings. Not our first stay and will not be our last. Once again we had an excellent stay. Many thanks to Ger and Patricia who are great hosts. The entire team of staff from reception and accommodation to the bar and restaurant were fantastic. A great team of people. The food as usual was 100% as was the service. Can't wait for our next trip. Thanks again for everything and keep up the excellent Cead Mile Failte. 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Just back from a relaxing break in the Moorings , we loved everything about he accommodation and venue the staff are very friendly and can't do enough to ensure you enjoy your stay. The room was very clean and comfortable, the bar and restaurant are really cosy perfect place to relax especially if the weather isn't great. This is a perfect base to visit Skellig Michael, Valentia island, Ballinskelligs and Cahirsiveen. We are really looking forward to our next visit as we are always treated like family by Ger and all the friendly team , hopefully before the end of the year John and Annette
Always an amazing spot. Haven’t been back for a couple of years due to Covid etc but Gerard was able to tell us about 4 years! Gerard and Patricia always take the time out to say hello . They go to each table . You don’t see proprietors doing that much . Comfy rooms. Fantastic views. Food was delicious. It has changed but still plenty of options. We had a fantastic server Antoinette. Brilliant. As were all the stay. Have booked again for 2 nights in March! Thank you all.
Just home from a night away at The Moorings. Excellent stay. Customer service from all was 100%. The owners Gerald and Patricia even go out of their way to have a chat with everyone. The beddroon was spotless, warm and comfortable. What makes the place is the staff. Each one of them were excellent and we would like to give a particular mention to Antoinette who looked after us so well. Great stay. So much so that we booked our next stay on checkout. Thanks again everyone. Mary, Maura and Eamon.👍👍👍
My wife and I spent a short break in The Moorings and we were delighted by the whole experience. The Kennedys are excellent hosts and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Their bar and restaurant facilities are excellent and our room was spacious and the only noise we heard was the seagulls which also co-operated and didn't start their cackling until after 8am. We had a splendid view of the local pier and fishing boats........really picturesque and quaint. The Kerry Cliffs are only a short journey from The Moorings and are well worth a visit with some spectacular views including that of Skellig Michael.
We stayed for two nights, booking initially for proximity to boat for Skellig Michael. It’s also an excellent location for Valentina Island, walking to the Kerry Cliffs and the many local beaches and amazing sights. Unfortunately the bed in the superior room was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever tried to sleep in. The metal springs were really obvious and uncomfortable, not of a standard for a hospitality business. Not great either for when you want to make the most of all the local area has to offer. The breakfast menu is extensive but the quality could be improved, the full Irish was not good quality and no fresh fruit was available on either morning. We had booked for dinner both nights but cancelled the second night. The seafood platter had beautiful fresh cold fish but the cooked fish was completely overdone and tasted like it had been cooked in a deep fat fryer, completely ruining the fish. The seafood chowder lacked favour and was mediocre. The roast beef was only okay. The meal was too expensive for the food provided. Most of the staff and the owner were very friendly. The Moorings needs to review the standard of cooking and the basics of ensuring guests can have a good night’s sleep if they wish to continue charging their current prices. The rooms were very clean but extremely basic for the prices charged. No water, refillable toiletry containers and sanitary ware that have seen better days. We discovered there were better options available nearby to eat and stay and felt we paid far too much for what was provided.…
This hotel is the perfect base for a trip to the Skellig Islands. It is immediately across the street from the marina. It is not fancy, but clean and friendly. The view is delightful and the breakfast was great.
