Agia Galini is an hour + drive across the island from either Chania, or Heraklion airport.(Its on Crete's south coast). Coaches run regularly from the above cities.I used a hired car, and the harbour area has free car parking below the Akeon. There are a lot of steps leading from the harbour up to the hotel. The Hotel is built... More

I've stayed at the Akteon twice (with a third visit imminent). I love the location - right in the heart of the village and overlooking the harbour, sea, and islands. The room is clean and well-equipped (fridge, kettle, coffee-maker, cups, etc.) and the value is excellent, as it includes a massive breakfast. You're always greeted with friendliness, raki, and cake,... More

Hotel Akteon offers about 9 rooms and an appartment. The familiy who runs the hotel is very nice. Fresh Cretan breakfast served every morning, and also each day some different sweets or omelet. The double rooms are not very big, for some euro more you could prefer to book a 3 person room. The veranda is shared, but there are... More

A local lady has turned her house into a nice guesthouse. Very nice location, the best view, good prices, small breakfast made by her, and lovely sceenery. However: old place (air condition sometimes working, bathroom shelves almost falling) ropes for drying the guests' towels everywhere in the place blocking the view, etc, makes me put only 4/5.

I arrived at nearly 9pm, tired and hot - a warm greeting, baklava, and some raki awaited me. The room had a balcony with a fantastic view over the harbour, which is an easy and short stroll down a steep hill (not quite so easy on the way back, but not a problem for me). All excellent value - fridge,... More

We booked based on the "cheap and cheerful" principle and we weren't disappointed. It was simple yet clean at a very reasonable rate. The sea views from the front terraces are wonderful. Wifi wasn't particularly strong but it was good enough. If you're on a budget and don't care if the decor is modern then this is a very good... More

As I stood by the harbour looking at the buildings clinging to the steep hill, I noticed Hotel Akteon more than half way up and I thought I had made a terrible mistake. “What a climb” I thought, “that serves me right for choosing a place on price. Oddly the climb did not seem so bad and the more I... More

At the last floor no WIFI, they don't serve breakfast before 09.00 hrs, and yes there was a TV, but it was fixed on the wall in a manner you just couldn't watch TV (I was on business trip). Yes it was clean. . But when you book an accommodation because it has internet in ALL areas and it has... More

This was my second stay at Hotel Aktaeon. I had a spacious room next to reception. On my previous visit I had a small room on the top tier of the hotel. Akteon is a small, family run hotel with very friendly and helpful owners. The views from the shared balconies are fantastic, overlooking the pretty harbour. The location is right in the centre of the village on a steep hillside. I spent 12 nights here, could have stayed longer if time had permitted. The room (no.5) in which I stayed was... More
