A German friend got a reservation for me at this top quality hotel in a small 2500 year-old German town. I spent an entire afternoon taking in the town steeping myself in history then had an A+ German supper, slept in a high quality room and ended my stay with an equally high quality classic German breakfast the next morning.
We were stationed at Ramstein AB during the 1980s. We visit the area occasionally as we still have good friends in the area. We visited Oelmuehle Hotel-Restaurant for the second time, and each time is a joy. The staff is friendly and will do what they can to accommodate us. This time they gave us an early check-in. The rooms are immaculate, beds are comfortable, and accommodation is quiet. The breakfasts are incredible; there is something for everyone. We will definitely return. Thank you for a wonderful, enjoyable stay!
Came across this place quite by accident, the result of an overbooking at my preferred hotel. Very glad of it, too. The hotel is small, around 12 rooms, with a restaurant. Nice, modern rooms, well laid out, with enough storage for clothes. Power points aplenty. Breakfast is continental, with an eggs and bacon option. The restaurant in the evening is fabulous. Others have commented on it, and I can only echo the positive things said about it. The owner is one of the chefs, and her cooking is excellent. Only real downside is that there is enough parking for around 8 to 10 cars if everyone parks sensibly on site. Otherwise its street parking in an area littered with cars. Have now made this my first choice when in Landstuhl for a hotel.
A hidden star with a menu and food at a star level. A shame that the Michelin boys missed to find this little pearl hidden in the back of Landstuhl, but at least we found it and returns again and again. Really outstanding dishes, very high quality, and the staff and service makes you feel as a VIP guest anytime. The selection of wines really matches the dishes, of couse there is also beer and soda on the menu, but this food really should be accompagnied with the best drops of wines you can get. The restaurant is beautiful, romantic and not so big that its crowded and the noise level is perfect for romantic dinner or being out with the best friends. We love it, and you dont find anyting better in Landstuhl. Enjoy a dinner you will never regret.
We stayed here for a week during our rotation out of Germany. We were familiar with the great on-site restaurant and saw the good hotel reviews, so we were happy to spend our remaining days in comfort. There are lots of good restaurants in Landstuhl to walk to as well. The hotel parking is a little tight and the front door (there are 12 rooms inside) is often locked during the day, so they buzz you in. The staff is very friendly and the checkin was smooth. Our room was a standard size, with a large bed, individual comforters, lots of shelving space, ample closets, and a very nice bathroom. The decor is modern (versus a German-rustic you might otherwise see) and the crown moulding is a nice touch. There is a heavy shade to keep out the light and plenty of wall plugs for charging up. Since we had some household goods at home, we brought in our own fan (gets hot and muggy in DE) and an alarm clock for the bedside that were not offered in general. The breakfast provided was excellent - lots of fresh, local items to taste with different breads and eggs and bacon could be cooked to order. Homemade jams and fresh fruit salads were all great as well.…
