I absolutely love this place. It's my second time coming back and feels like my second home. I think I may make it my start to the summer destination every year! The staff is kind, the villas are clean and beautiful and the food is always great. Highly recommend anyone looking to solo travel and find solitude in nature with calm vibes to come here. Pure Vida!
To say that our stay at Oxygen Jungle Villas was incredible would stand as a genuine understatement. From the moment we arrived, and as cliché as this may sound, we were treated like absolute family. The private, boutique and bespoke nature of the entire experience was represented all throughout. As we stayed in the Ocean View Villa, the cleanliness, and comfort of the sheets along with our bed, coupled with the overall size of our villa perfectly matched our expectations. While being situated in the heart of a jungle certainly introduces exposure to various insects, the team at Oxygen did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Despite the fact that my partner and I experienced a stomach bug early into our stay, the staff, including Anna, Leydy, Luis, Jason, Douglas, Bryan and Henry continually checked in on us and provided remedies that made the remainder of our stay just as exceptional as our initial impression upon arriving. Prior to booking the stay, I did quite a bit of research in discerning whether or not a rental was necessary. While I initially opted for the airport pick-up, I am truly glad that I opted for the rental instead, as it introduced the opportunity to visit and explore Uvita whenever we wanted. The notion of “walking up” to Oxygen would be extremely difficult, as it entails a 2.5KM+ trek up a mountain road that has inclines up to 45 degrees — this is certainly something you do not want to walk up unless you’re looking to return with quads the size of a Roman God. Therefore, I would highly encourage an AWD rental, as it would introduce far more freedom in exploring what lies beyond the beautiful villa. We booked a ’22 Hyundai Tucson AWD through Adobe Rent a Car, as recommended by the Oxygen team and the experience was as smooth as can be. As for the tours, I can say that we were extremely impressed with the quality of them, as they fell in line with the professionalism harboured by the Oxygen experience. We opted for the Mangrove Tour on the Sierpe River, the Bird Watching Tour, the Don Emilio Coffee Tour, along with the Jungle Delight Spa Experience and all of them were phenomenal, to say the least. The quality of tour guides, professionalism in correspondence, and overall experience were nothing short of exceptional. Notwithstanding the quality of tours and accommodation, the food experience was also quite impressive. The multitude of fresh smoothie and juice options, coupled with what seems to be a brilliantly creative array of alcoholic beverage options blended brilliantly with the overall setting, vibe, and boutique experience Oxygen strives towards fostering. Conclusively, our stay at Oxygen has made us fall in love with both Costa Rica along with the magic that the small, energetic, and lively town of Uvita offers. We not only look forward to returning within the next year, but we also would like to express our genuine appreciation for the truly sensational experience we received from the team at Oxygen, including Douglas, Henry, Bryan, Jason, Luis, Anna, Leydy and Carlos. If you’re looking for a private and intimate getaway mixed with the opportunity to explore and adventure in a geographical region recognized for unmatched biodiversity and nature, I would highly recommend a stay at Oxygen without question. Pura Vida!…
This experience was everything I wanted and more! The customer service was supreme, the ocean view villa was peaceful and pleasant even when it was raining, the food was amazing and the massage was the best I have had. I highly recommend this Villa!
The grounds and rooms were beautiful. The staff were extremely nice but the service was slow at the bar and restaurant. The food options were very limited and the attention to detail was lacking. I had purchased some add-on services to celebrate my birthday and they completely dropped the ball. The location is far from everything and the hotel does not have any transportation to accommodate. I would not recommend this place for more than one night.
I booked the standard suite at this hotel for 4 people through Expedia and when I went to check in was told that the price I paid was too low and that I needed to pay and additional $60/per person for the room even though my email confirmation from Expedia stated on it that it was for 4 people. I contacted Expedia to have them sort the matter out and the hotel told Expedia that they would not be refunding the money to me and Expedia WAS OKAY WITH THAT. Expedia did not offer any follow up or additional support for correcting this situation. I had a very pleasant experience in all other hotels and homes that I had rented but Oxygen Jungle Villas are a bunch of thieves! I hope you enjoy your $120 and I hope that my review discourages at least 1 person from booking with you!
My husband and I spent 2 nights in a Jungle room (Room 10) and 2 nights in Ocean view room (Room 5) and they were both amazing. In the jungle room we obviously had a lot more wildlife - lots of toucans and other birds right in front of us as well as a couple sightings of capuchin monkeys and were woken up by howler monkeys “howling” not too far away each morning. The ocean room had beautiful view but not as much wildlife. Rooms are all identical, modern and clean with very comfy big beds. The gowns are super soft cotton - perfect for lounging on sofa outside with coffee watching the sun come up. Food was fantastic - highly recommend the shrimp tempura and quesadillas off lunch menu and the shrimp aguachile, tuna tartare or mixed kebab off dinner menu. Staff were also amazing with a smile and knowledgeable answers at every turn - special mention must be made of Douglas and Henry (front desk), Ana (waitress) and Maurizio (driver) The whole vibe of the place is “chill” and the soothing music around the pool sets a scene of total tranquility. I did a spa treatment down by the river which was one of the best massages I,ve ever had in the world BUT I also had a coffee body scrub which was all good until she asked me to rinse off in an oil-slicked pool of water in the rocks which had scorpion looking shrimp in it! This completely ruined my spa experience unfortunately. She eventually rinsed me off by pouring bowls of water from the running water tap ( why don’t they just install a beautiful outdoor shower?) Aside from that, the whole stay was pure perfection and we’re sitting in Papagayo wishing we were back at Oxygen!…
The BEST! We traveled with our sister and brother-in-law to Costa Rica and Oxygen was one of our many stays, They took care of us like family! The place is small, intimate and utterly enchanting! The views are spectacular, the rooms are sparkling clean but the staff takes the cake!! We had a personal mishap while we were staying there and the management and staff absolutely handled everything. As I said "just like we were family"!! Definitely put Oxygen at the top of your list for a spectacular vacation!!!
What I liked: - beautiful glass bungalows nested in a tropical forest - very good restaurant, tasty - great view over the ocean from the swimming pool - nice mix of Costa Rican and Indonesian architecture What I liked less: - swimming pool area is noisy (music all day) - a bit pricy
The place is really gorgeous. Lovely view, beautiful villas. Swimming pool area looks amazing😍 Just two things.. If you are coming with your girlfriend/boyfriend, you’ll get on the next level of closure (because you can here everything through a glass door of a bathroom in your villa)…😅 Food is good here, nice presentations.. If they would have all the products in stock (avocado, salmon) during our stay.. It would be even better.
My fiancé and I spent 6 days at Oxygen and cannot recommend it enough! Our expectations were far exceeded in every way, especially the quality and taste of the food and how friendly the staff was. They scheduled all of our activities for us (ATV tour is a must) allowing us to enjoy our time instead of worrying about planning. We even saw monkeys and a toucan on site! Thank you to Henry, Douglas, Ana, Luis and Lady for making this a trip we will never forget! If you are staying in Uvita, Oxygen Jungle Villas is an absolute must. Can’t wait to come back soon!!
