We stayed here for three nights and I did not want to leave. This place is amazing and we had such a fantastic time here. The owners and staff are all friendly and so helpful. Breakfast in the restaurant is really good and I just loved the pineapple mimosa. The villas are stunning. We stayed in the Sunset Villa. It was a great size, had a well stocked kitchen and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. We have been to many hotels around the world but this must be one of the cleanest rooms we have ever stayed in. The view from the terrace is lovely, as you are up on the hill you look over the rain forest all the way to Uvita and have a brilliant view of the Whale´s Tail. We also had quite a lot of toucans sitting in a tree right next to our terrace every day. The road up to the hotel is very steep and you will not make it without a 4x4. The first trip up was a bit of a challenge but once you know the way, it is okay. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Costa Rica and this time also longer than only three nights!

Hotel's Favourite
The Golden Pineapple provides a perfect view of the Whale Tail, modern accommodations, great ambiance, and a very private feel in the Villa. The drinks were great, as well as the dining options. I really enjoyed the outdoor shower and soaking tub. We celebrated our anniversary here, and the romance package was really... well, romantic. It was absolutely perfect. The staff is wonderful, and we really appreciated the feeling of complete privacy in the Villa with the ability to socialize in the bar/restaurant lounge area. Getting here was a bit of a challenge, but it was worth it. We really didn't have to leave the Villa if we didn't want to. They had everything! I'm hoping we will be able to return to this romantic getaway in the future. Thank you Anna, Leo, Marlon, and the entire staff of the Golden Pineapple Villas! Pura Vida!

This was our first trip to Costa Rica. We were looking for comfort, quiet time , luxury of place, nature and good food. We choose to book Golden Pineapple Villas and we were smitten with accommodations, view, service, warm hospitality. What a GEM! Jessie has an exquisite taste in luxury lifestyle and shows in smallest details. I felt so fortunate to be a guest in the Villas and experience this magical place. I hope to return soon.

Amazing place. We had a private pool, outdoor shower and tub. The views were incredible. Food was five star as was the service. We will definitely be back. It was so quiet and private. Loved how they hadn't disturbed the jungle to build the villas.

The Golden Pineapple is the most magical place I can imagine. Set on a hilltop, nestled in the clouds, the views of the ocean and whales tail are spectacular. The rooms, the grounds, everything are stunning and perfectly maintained. Food is delicious. All of this perfection comes from the incredible owners, Oval and Jessie who could not have been more accommodating or helpful. The staff are equally kind, gracious and helpful. I always feel nervous writing a review like this because I want this to be my forever place in Costa Rica and don’t want it to get too busy, but this review is so well earned it had to be written.

Marlon was awesome giving me advice and booking tours for us from about a week before we got there. We arrived at around 1am because we drove from the San Jose airport from a flight that got in at night. I don't recommend that, but we only had the weekend, so we went for it. The mountain was pretty wild driving up; thank goodness I read all these reviews ahead of time. Def needed 4x4 and someone that doesn't mind driving on windy unpaved steep roads up a mountain. A few of the turns were not clearly marked, but we made some good guesses. Thank goodness it didn't rain a lot on the drive in. By the end of our weekend, my husband was timing himself on how fast he could get up and down the mountain; he was having a great time. It rained hard all night the last night we were there, and we were afraid of it being muddy going down the mountain at 3am when we had to head back to the airport, but it was totally fine going down - no mud at all. Room was perfect, view was WONDERFUL. We had an outdoor shower and bath which was so nice soaking in. We were out adventuring the two full days we were there, so I never got into the plunge pool; husband said it was a little chilly. Loved the layout of the villas, where you really never see the other people there unless you happen to dine at the same time in the restaurant. We only got to take advantage of the free breakfast once, but it was delicious. What an adventurous weekend!

The room was absolutely gorgeous. I'm usually hard to please as It pertain to the cleanliness of a room, but the attention to detail was beyond my imagination. The service was beyond five star. The food and drinks at the restaurant were delicious. Leo, Anna, and Marlon were just all Angels. They make you feel like family or friends and made it hard to leave. The location was very close to town with amazing restaurants and bars to visit. I felt very safe in the area and people were super friendly. I will certainly will be back and I will not consider staying anywhere else.

I’m not even sure where to start. The trip up the mountain was an adventure. We chose to have the GP arrange a ride for us after changing our plans multiple times and flying into Quepos. Jessie, the owner, was beyond responsive and helpful in making arrangements for us. Once we arrived we were in awe. The property is so private and has such a friendly and welcoming feel. In the 3 days we stayed the staff treated us so well and anything we needed they tended to with a smile. The food on property was outstanding and we ate every meal on site as once we discovered how remarkable this place was we didn’t want to spend any time away from it. We had adventures planned in another location later in our trip so this was the perfect Place to relax and just enjoy our surroundings. We did yoga on our patio poolside every morning after waking up to various wildlife right outside our bedroom window. We did hike to the mini waterfall on property a few times which was so private and a great place for reflection. Upon our return, Anna had cold infused waters waiting for us. The private pool and outdoor bath were phenomenal and we spent our days rotating between them. One day we had our lunch delivered. The ceviche and the tuna tartare were outstanding as well as all of their cocktails. The level of service and attention to detail was beyond our expectations. We have travelled a lot but have never experienced customer service or privacy like this provided. We can’t wait to come back. We made some new acquaintances after we left and after we bragged about the GP they all decided to cancel their existing reservations and move to the GP instead. They echoed the same experience. It is a magical place and if you are looking for a reset and a true relaxing experience look no further! We truly felt like we had the whole rainforest with a beautiful ocean view all to ourselves. But when we wanted to eat it was a quick walk to the bar and poolside restaurant to enjoy its magnificent view. Exceeded our expectations for an early 25th anniversary celebration! Thank you for creating this one of a kind experience! Like many others have written, it will be very hard to find anything that compares to this in our future travels. You have set the bar high!

This resort is phenomenal. The service, privacy, food, beverages, views, comfort....truly unprecedented. My first hospitality corporate job was at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. This hotel easily meets their standards plus. The owner, Jessie Rodgers, has created the perfect retreat from the world in this corner of paradise. Each morning we had breakfast included and were treated to culinary delights like we’ve rarely had elsewhere. The lunch and dinner menu are just as delectable. At night, we slept with windows open, fountain in our pool on, and peaceful rain forest sounds surrounding us on all sides. During the day, the public pool is delightful, and has views of the whale tail...extremely refreshing to use. The private pool in each villa is also an amazing amenity for the ultimate in privacy. The shower and bath are actually outside in a perfect rain forest environment. It was our 30th anniversary and Jesse arranged massages in the room and a four course meal served in our room. All of that said...what makes this place over the top is the service. We felt like Leo, Marlin, and Anna became our family while there. Along with the owner Jesse, their spirit of hospitality combined with their attention to detail is something to be experienced or you won’t believe it. I would say they gave us the most relaxing and best vacation we have ever had. It was well worth what we paid to experience this lovely, stunning, warm, magical place. Thank you Jessie, Leo, Anna, and Marlin! Hope to see you again soon!

My partner and I stayed for four nights and we had an absolutely lovely experience. The hotel is about 3.5 hours from the SJO airport and requires four-wheel drive to get up the steep mountainside and dirt roads. We didn't want to drive ourselves, so the hotel helped us arrange a driver from the airport. There's a small airport in Uvita but we did not opt for that extra flight. We arrived well before check-in, so we had an early lunch in the small restaurant on the property. The staff was very welcoming and warm upon our arrival. Once our room was ready, we were shown in and it was very well cleaned and had a STUNNING view. (Sunset Villa #7). We were looking for a very sedentary, relaxing vacation, so decided to take all our meals in our room. Whatsapp is the preferred method of communication between the guests and the staff, which was so easy and convenient. We would just text them meal/service requests as needed and they would confirm and respond very quickly. They were super attentive, and really lovely; kind, attentive and accommodating. Office hours are from 7a-9p. There is no charge for room service, and delivery was always pretty prompt. Any meal brought to your room is the same price it would be if you ate in the restaurant. We tipped 20%. Breakfasts were included in the room rate and it was a full menu to choose from (anything from banana bread french toast to huevos rancheros). Each guest could get one entree, plus fruit and either a coffee drink or smoothie free of charge. Since we were fairly sedentary during our stay, this served for breakfast and lunch on most days. Dinner was reasonably priced and really great, a similar broad selection of items. Appetizers are 10-16 USD and entrees are 20-28 USD. The room had a FULL kitchen and though we didn't make use of it, the supermarket BM Uvita was big and had nearly everything and was only about a 15 minute drive down the hill. The carafe style coffee maker in the room comes with free ground coffee and there is even a small milk carton in the refrigerator, on the house. This was nice to have throughout the day. There is a paid minibar-esque situation with sunscreen and bug spray though when we were there (mid April) there were no biting bugs to be seen. The hotel can help arrange on-site COVID-19 tests for $135 per person, or off-site tests for $85 per person. We brought our Binax travel covid tests so we saved some money there. The wifi was very strong and consistent so we had no trouble getting our tests supervised virtually. At one point I was on a zoom call and my partner was streaming Netflix and it held up really well. The weather was great the whole time we were there- scattered clouds came and went but only a small sprinkle during our time there. The air conditioner was strong and cooled the place quickly at night if/as needed. In addition to double sinks, toilet, and spacious shower, there is a large outside soaking tub amidst some lipstick palms, which was such a nice touch. It fit two people easily. The infinity pool was amazing and clean, though unheated. This was mostly fine given the warm weather, but sometimes took a little getting used to. Overall, we would highly recommend this location- it was an amazing stay. A great balance between being clean, modern, and comfortable, while being gorgeously entwined with nature. We would definitely return, even with the long travel time for us (Los Angeles).
