We stopped here on our way back from Cabo blanco. We ended up staying the whole afternoon and would LOVE to stay in one of their beachside cabins. Fabulous drinks, great food, awesome service. We also got to see a big pack of howler monkeys in the treetops here. Very cool to see them up close. This is also a great place to walk to Cabuya island (the island you can walk to at low tide). We walked to it from Calala and it’s a short walk on the beach and then you walk across the sea to the island. The couple who owns the lodge couldn’t be more friendly, they’ve done a great job creating a lovely environment and the beachside cabins are very affordable so we’d like to come back and stay.

Call Lodge is on a very dusty road, very dusty. The pool is smaller than it looks in the photos and the beach is unswimmable. The walk to the island is fantastic. I have a bit of an issue as I was told the ordinary cabins with no balcony were better than the others, not true...No 1. looks great. We had no 5, and it was spacious and looked lovely, but the floor sloped so much it was hard to look out the window. the view from the porch was limited. Food... not very good, same every day and I don't like eating eel! Comfort..l if this was my lodge I would replace the deck chairs with some seats and loungers, and supply coffee and water for refills throughout the day.

We are staying down the road at an Airbnb and decided to stop here for dinner. Excellent food! The freshest fish. We had ceviche and the special fish of the night, caught today and prepared with ginger, soy sauce and fresh basil. Such a nice spot. Don't hesitate to stop in for a meal.

A nice location that has everything you need for a relaxed stay near the beach. Perfect hosts, okay breakfast and a snorkel location at half an hour walk that offers eagle rays (a.o.) The only 'downside' is the quality of the road to Cabuya, but should it be better, then it would probably attract to many tourists ...

This place was definitely a jewel. It is very remote if you are looking for a Pura vida Costa Rica experience. Small-town amazing amenities facility hs access to waterfalls surfing hiking natural preserves beaches delicious food the people are so friendly and peaceful and sweet. Calala Lodge is like a piece of heaven in a tranquil beautiful lush jungle filled with wildlife and amazing cabanas 💛 if you like nature and jungle and wildlife and friendly peaceful people in beautiful settings and surroundings than this place is definitely for you. The owners could not have been more friendly helpful accommodating and will connect you with people to take you on whatever kind of excursion or tour or activity that you would like to do. I am vegetarian and one of the owners is also vegetarian so the food choices were plentiful for me and everything was absolutely delicious including the amazing breakfast which was included with our nightly stay. We ended up staying all eight nights at this lovely lush tropical beautiful taste of heaven and couldn't have been more happier. I traveled there with myself, a single mom, and my two sons aged 17 and 10 and we all loved it there 💙🙏🌷💜 access to bicycles, kayak, taxis which simply require a short ride to a couple neighboring towns which are a little more populated so many wonderful things to say. So if you can handle a few spiders and some chameleons and be okay with that that is the trade-off for staying amidst one of God's most beautiful creations 💛🙏 amen
