What a beautiful setting in the Andean Highlands. A working farm, condor habitat, organic garden, and creamery with great walks. The staff was wonderful. Fernando, the general mgr. is a delight. The food is great, as well. All in all, an amazing place to visit for a few days.

Zuleta is a beautiful hacienda a couple of hours out of Quito. Our room was great, with a wood fire, which we needed as it gets cold at night. Lots of things to do - hiking, horse riding, visit the condor rehabilitation centre. The meals were ok, more like home cooked dinner, rather than restaurant meals. Device is outstanding.

We loved every minute of the stay except for the wood burning stoves that heat the rooms. Even with that, the ambience is wonderful. The rooms are very roomy even though the bathroom is small. This is an old place but full of charm. The food is delicious and plentiful. In the late afternoon, there is wine and cheese. This...

This was quite a great experience. First of all, the road to get there! End of the valley, start of the andes! Close to edge of civilized world. Great cooking, great environment, good rooms, fantastic trained horses. Best place to go horsebackriding. Great condor station, inca ruins, eagles, etc. But not to personal, little bit like a hotel. The price/quality...

Hacienda Zuleta was a wonderful first introduction to Ecuador. It's a beautiful, still operating 5,000+ acre ranch about 2 hours north of Quito. It offers horseback riding, hikes, tours with naturalists to see their condor preserve and study center, delicious family style meals, and charming rooms and spaces to read, relax and watch the hummingbirds close up! The staff is...

  • Old embroidery samples reflect Zuleta's role in the industry. (That's my scarf)
  • A comfortable triple room (the boys' larger side with a patio is too messy to photograph!)
  • Fabulous roses everywhere! Everything is simple and beautiful.
