The New Bath Hotel and Spa re-opened in late summer 2016 to once again be Derbyshire's premier boutique hotel. The bedrooms are bright and spacious and provide travellers with high levels of comfort and complimentary wifi. The hotel's Brasserie restaurant serves modern food using the best local produce. We have recently opened our new Artistry restaurant which offer a tasting menu. Whether it be a wedding, dining or just simply to sleep here, the New Bath Hotel has it all. We also have a fantastic outside pool which is fed by natural spa water, and is open to residents. Non residents can also use the pool for the day or use the pool on a membership basis. This outside pool is one of a very few within the UK, and should be seen to be appreciated and enjoyed.

I would not recommend this hotel to the elderly or disabled as there is no lift and i only realised this when reading the small print. We booked a superior room but it was very small. We complained and was upgraded for free to a suite which was excellent. however it was on the top floor and had to climb some 59 stairs from top to bottom!! This should be highlighted. Apart from this the hotel was excellent.

We arranged our wedding 8 months ago with the hotel and just after that there was alot of staff upheaval and changes and we had a number of event managers in a very short time, which was disturbing, but then Phil and a new team arrived and have turned things around brilliantly. Our big day was perfect and Phil and his team worked so hard to make everything perfect and we have now become friends with many of the staff after working with them to organise our wedding.

We were directed to our room (No 73) which was in the garden annex building. From the outside it looked somewhat lacking, particularly so after seeing the Hotel building itself. On entering our room, however, we were delighted to find an exceptionally clean, large, airy room, with a small balcony off it. The bed was huge & very comfortable. We had a lovely one night stay. The Hotel is brilliantly placed for the Peak District.

The stay at the New Bath was acceptable, though not spectacular. Upon arrival we were greeted by two receptionists who were gossiping, and didn't acknowledge us until they had finished gossiping which wasn't a great first impression. We went into the bar area to order food and drinks which were to a good standard. However, bar staff kept coming and going meaning that there were long periods between bar staff actually being on the bar, where many customers got frustrated and left having waited for quite a while to be served to no avail. We would have ordered more drinks, but couldn't. The rooms are dated, but pleasant enough and the area is relatively quiet so a good nights sleep is highly likely. Breakfast however was disappointing with just a continental option available and a lot of the options were stale such as the DIY Pancakes & Waffles. We therefore just stuck to toast and cereal. The worst part of the stay however was that during the evening, a member of staff was heard having a shouting match with a customer, with the argument going on in clear view of lots of customers and at times becoming quite aggressive. This continued for well over an hour. This really made us feel uncomfortable and wasn't dealt with very well at all. The New Bath Overall is not a bad option and very good value for money versus other hotels in the area, but could be so much better with a bit of TLC and small tweaks here and there.

Based on information given to us by your receptionist, we booked the hotel over a few other choices. I called regarding the pool and to check the children could use it as this was the sole purpose of our trip. The forecast was 32 degrees and as we are unable to afford a holiday abroad this year, we specifically searched for a hotel with an outdoor pool for ourselves and the children to relax and play in for two days. I was told that as long as the children were over 10 they were fine. When we arrived we were informed that the children were not allowed in! I understand the rule. I understand why the hotel has made this decision in order to protect your adult clientel, however, for us as a family, this mistake was a devastating one. Nearly £300 for a hotel that no longer met our needs, after a 2 and a half hour drive. And to make it worse....a view over the pool they were no longer allowed in! We then had to find alternative activities in scorching heat which added more expense and upset onto, what was meant to be a relaxing few nights away. Under other circumstances it would have such a lovely trip. Everything was spotless and well positioned. However these things do not wash when you turn up in a heat wave with two children and car full of lilos and told you can't get in!

Exceptional all round. A wonderful place with warm and helpful staff. A beautiful setting with outdoor and indoor relaxation areas. Breakfast was lovely and the bar area is calming and inviting. Cleanliness was of a high standard and the ever visible staff were always on hand for information and help. What a lovely find this hotel proved to be.

The hotel is VERY old and run down. Walls are scuffed and touched up (badly), the rooms decor is from the 1970's, and the TV was the size of a postage stamp. No cooked breakfast - room was over £209 for the night

The thermal pool attracted us, and after reading range of reviews decided to take the plunge - pun intended. Found their bed, dinner and brekkie online deal really good value (don't be put off by continental only, it was lovely with fresh pastries galore) and we had rooms in old part of the building which were spacious, clean and had modern bathrooms with very hot drench showers. Staff on both days were great despite being extremely busy (like all hospitality at the moment). Food was nice although there was a lack of wine glasses in the evening, bizarrely but again staff were very apologetic and we got something sorted. We'd booked direct with the hotel for the spa and had amazing 50 mins treatments, chill out area and then sunbathed by the outdoor pool. There are parts of the hotel that need a bit more TLC but we were more than happy with eveything and would return especialy for the pool access. Matlock Bath 5 mins down the road with lovely Riverside walks and cafes.

I’d give zero if I could. Booked a spa break months ago. Arrived Only to be told no spa available until 2 hours after check out the next day. Hotel had over booked rooms and spa. (They had accepted the booking via spa breaks and had not got the availability). Our party paid for suites and some only got basic rooms. Staff were not helpful sorting things and instead gave us a thorough-fair room (which other guests used to get to the pool) with a free drink. It was beyond disappointing and not at all what we paid for or expected. It was a big birthday once in a life-time celebration ruined. No compensation or refund was offered for their incompetence.
