We stayed in a family room for just one night but felt like I wanted to stay another couple of nights just to completely unwind. With it's central location you would expect it to be noisy and bustling but the owners, Paula and Shaun, have created a lovely, calm and extremely welcoming atmosphere. Having met them for the first time...

The proprietors of this B&B really make this place. They're so friendly and accommodating and made us and our dog feel so welcome. Breakfast was high quality and delicious. Ashdale is situated in a fabulous location, right in the heart of Matlock Bath but that means it can be a little noisy - didn't bother us though. The rooms are...

We had a great time over the last few days in this charming Guesthouse. Paula, Shaun and their son Josh were very hospitable and welcoming! It is a good location for exploring the tranquility of the gorgeous countryside, although the road where the Guesthouse is situated can get surprisingly busy at certain points in the day. The breakfast was particularly...

We stayed for three nights in April. Paula and Shaun recently purchased the B&B and Paula is a wonderful host. We had a large room (Room 3), very spacious and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent, great choice and perfectly cooked. Paula helped us with things to do and places to visit and made our stay so enjoyable.

We have just arrived home from a lovely relaxing 4 night stay at Ashdale guest house, with our 3 children and dog (there are dog friendly rooms and rooms that you cannot take dogs if you'd rather not have a dog friendly room). We were made to feel 100% welcome by the lovely new family owners, who went out of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our house was built in 1847, is early Victorian, built in the Georgian style in the centre of the village of Matlock Bath which was developed as a spa. There are still some natural thermal springs and a petrifying well. There are four spacious en-suite rooms, three of which are family rooms. A cot is available. All rooms have access to wireless broadband, TV kettle etc. The house is situated immediately opposite the Victorian Jubilee bridge, which is a footbridge over the River Derwent. This bridge gives access to walks, an informal riverside park with childrens play area and attractive fountains and pools. There are walks up by the river and up the wooded hillside to extensive all-round views. Within walking distance are Gulliver's Kingdom (Childrens theme park), Cable Cars to Heights of Abraham, (where you can visit to old lead mines), the Museum and Aquarium with the petrifying well, the Mining Museum, and an assortment of restaurants and pubs with regular live music. Masson Mills (shopping village and museum in Arkwright's historic mill) is 10 minutes walk and there are many small, interesting shops both in Matlock Bath, and within nearby Matlock & Cromford. ... more   less
