We stayed for two nights and first appearances were very good. On closer inspection the headboard fitted to the wall in our room had some greasy patches on it. More tea bags and milk would have been appreciated as only four of each were provided for two people and the little pots of milk are not enough for a single... More

WE had a very nice room. Matlock Bath itself is a resort past it'd best, but we are told that things might improve in the future. Quite close to the hotel is "Abraham heights" which we ascended in a cable car. Beautiful views from the top, and an interesting trip down the mine. The whole place is kept to a... More

Described as Matlock only Boutique Hotel. Nice but not Boutique by London standards. Food was good. Room was nice with a Quirky Bathroom (Room 15). Lift service to 1st floor only. Check if you are physically challenged as some rooms are on 2nd floor up a steep but short staircase. Pleasantly surprised by WIFI in our room having been told... More

My fiancée and I visited Matlock for a romantic weekend (she was my girlfriend when we arrived!), and decided to stay at the High Tor after reading the reviews on here. We were both delighted with the quality of the accommodation on offer. The room was spotless, and perfect for our needs. The staff were very friendly, and couldn't have... More

I think we've stayed in most of the hotels in/around Matlock Bath and this High Tor is definitely the best one and the one we will be staying in the future. It looks lovely from outside and it is modern and clean inside (not always the case with the "character hotels"). We were worried that it would be noisy -... More

First of all, I can't believe Mandy P was staying in the same Hotel as us. We stayed in room 1. It was spotlessly clean, chic, Modern with a beautiful bathroom. After having a nice conversation with the Manager last night, I think he was called Robert, there is no way that this man would put up with dirty rooms... More

Our stay here was very pleasant and the manager went out of his way to help us on several occasions. We booked last minute and we're able to extend our stay another night due to a cancellation. We were provided with a free travel cot. True there seem to be a skeleton crew of staff but the ones I encountered... More

Room no 3..Not what we expected from the reviews dirty, shower drain block with hair and scum, shower fan not working or the phone, ripped bedding, unable to open the window for fresh air, no accessible WiFi in the room (had to sit in the lobby). The view was awful onto a fire escape and derelict patio area. A tidy... More

We stayed here for a short weekend break to visit the attractions in the local area. The hotel was nice and clean and it was very comfortable. The hotel is ideally located near to Matlock which was a 10 minute walk to the local restaurants. It is also located near the heights of Abraham which is around a 5 minute... More

I booked the High Tor last minute as a surprise for my partners birthday and opted for the superior double room. The room was cosy, quiet and extremely clean and we were particularly impressed with the black marble bathroom and the awesome walk-in shower! The location is perfect for visiting the Abraham Heights. There are also some beautiful walks close... More
