My boyfriend and I got a great deal for Paddy's Night this year, really good value for dinner, b&b! We arrived down at about 3pm and the staff were so welcoming and helpful, with tips on the local pubs and the area. A really lovely lady (didnt catch her name, blonde hair, really smiley) showed us to the townhouse and to our room. The room was lovely, very old fashioned with the old windows yet modern. A little bottle of milk was left in our fridge to make tea which was a nice thought. We then went for a pre dinner drink in 'the local' recommendation by that lovely and it was very busy and we even sat outside in the middle of March and was fine as they had heaters. We then had dinner booked for 7:45pm and the restaurant is lovely inside. The service was excellent throughout the night (coming from a hospitality experience) I thought the staff were lovely and very helpful with explaining dishes. The food & wine were 10/10. Breakfast was lovely the next morning, very relaxed just what you need and again service was so friendly. We met that lovely lady on checkout, she asked us how we got on and really seemed like she cared about our stay! She gave us a tip to go for a walk on the greenway and buy a cheeky scone since it was a long weekend. Would definitely recommend coming to the tannery for food and accommodation!…
The Tannery Dungarvan was incredible from start to finish. The rooms were so clean and bright. The food was out of this world they even organised a special menu for me personally as I cannot eat loads of foods. Nothing was any trouble for the staff a huge big thanks. The foods from star to finish all fresh delicious breakfast another foodie delight. The wine list exceptional. And I will definitively return. Thank you so much to all the staff the chefs and a huge big thanks to Valerie all the front of the house and table staff.
We availed of the overnight ‘special’ package and what a fantastic experience it was. The townhouse is really homely with special little touches like stylish mugs for a lovely cup of tea/coffee on arrival with an old fashioned jug of milk in the fridge, there were even some wine glasses and a bottle opener if you happened to bring your own wine. It was just lovely. Our meal in the restaurant was superb as was the attention to detail both in the meal and by the staff. There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere which tempted us to have a second bottle of wine which we did. The bed was so comfy and finally breakfast the following morning was a delight. My black and white pudding with poached eggs was scrumptious. I love the ambience and the space of a good hotel but I would return to The Tannery in a heartbeat. It was incredible value and I’d highly recommend it.…
The Tannery Townhouse accommodation is highly recommended. The bedrooms are so comfortable, bright and stylish. The bathrooms are large and the staff very attentive. Great central location too Loved the different designs and colour.
We booked a room for one night with dinner and breakfast. The room was very basic, barely fitting the double bed and two wrought iron chairs. The wardrobe consisted of a rail and a few hangers behind a curtain. Agree walls paper thin. Only shutters on window which meant light entered early in the morning. The room we had was across from an apartment block so noisy electronic gates interfered with our sleep. Would rate as upmarket hostel. The dinner, in our opinion, resembled lunch portions and very limited menu. If you ordered fish, you literally got a small piece of fish with a small bowl of "blended" potatoes for two persons. Vegetables were an additional cost. We're used to eating good food with three vegetables with our dinner so we ordered "greens" and whatever leaf was served, we couldn't eat due to being tough. Thankfully we had a good lunch earlier! Unfortunately we will never return. Extremely bad value.…
I'm surprised at how many good reviews the accommodation has in this place. The walls are paper thin. We could hear every word and every movement from the couple in next room. The rooms themselves need serious restoration. The mattress was old, springy and creaky. The duvet was the heaviest duvet I've ever slept with. It felt like it was stuffed with weights. There was cheap IKEA garden furniture doubled as coffee tables. The only thing stopping me from giving it 1 star was the staff were very friendly, breakfast was nice and checkin/checkout was seamless. There was 2 other floors of rooms so maybe we got the bad one, but I can't fathom how someone could give what we had 4/5 stars. If they give you the top floor rooms, ask for a refund.
What a fabulous few days! We stayed in the Tannery Townhouse Sunday 4th July to Wednesday 7th July and the whole experience was just wonderful. With two teenage children, the adjoining rooms were perfect. Dinner on Sunday evening was a real treat, the crab mousse being my highlight. Breakfast menu was full of choice and we all usually had something different each morning. It was a really lovely place to stay, good value for money and all of the team were so helpful. Our only point for improvement is that there were no dining facilities on Monday & Tuesday evening, even something casual would have been great. But all in all, The Tannery deserve every success, we will be back.
We booked the dinner and accommodation at The Tannery townhouse and restaurant and delighted we did so. Very friendly staff, fabulous food and a lovely room in a cool boutique style townhouse. What's not to like. Dinner was delicious and there was a nice friendly relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant. Our room was at the top of the house and had everything we needed. Delicious breakfast the next morning served by friendly staff in a bright airy room upstairs. I'd have no problem recommending The Tannery.
We stayed in the townhouse for two nights as a post-Covid lockdown treat. We booked the two night stay with dinner in the restaurant. We arrived to a filthy room. The paintwork, splash back tiles, carpets, surfaces, carpets and even the skirting boards were filthy. Spatters of toothpaste from the previous guests adorned the bathroom tiles and navy wallpaper. I hoped that it was paint but when it came away with a wipe of a towel I knew that it wasn’t. There was a layer of dust on every surface in the room including the tray with mugs and teabags, and loads of brown stains on the lovely white painted wooden panels. A lovely member of staff was extremely apologetic when I awkwardly showed her the room and someone from the restaurant phoned to apologise and arranged to have the room cleaned while we went and had dinner in the restaurant. They confirmed that other guests had stayed in the room the night before us. Not reassuring amid the current Covid 19 pandemic to think that things hadn’t been cleaned properly between guests. The lack of care and attention to detail in our room was insulting to a paying guest. The room cost €140 per night. The townhouse is beautifully decorated and appears to have been renovated relatively recently. It would be so simple and cheap to ensure that it’s cleaned to a standard fit for rental. It was too sloppy an operation for me and I would not recommend. …
Myself and my husband stayed here in the tannery townhouse last night. To be honest I was worried because of few previous negative reviews but once I walked into room they all disappeared. What a super spot..room beautiful and big and clean.loads if fluffy big white towels in bathroom. We were on ground floor (as I requested).didn't hear a thing.Breakfast was across the street in restaurant. It did not disappoint..great choice of everything. Staff were so nice and polite.chatty but not in your face..I loved the brown bread..I didnt feel like big breakfast so had childhood favourite..a sausage sandwich..on a toasted brioche with relish..delicious..our room had small fridge with real milk and ice cold water..dungarvan is a beautiful town.id definitely stay at tannery again.
