The Park Hotel Dungarvan is often celebrated for its clean, comfortable rooms, though some guests suggest certain rooms could be modernized and positioned for quieter stays. The staff's friendly and accommodating nature is widely commended, despite occasional slow service. While the hotel's cleanliness is a high point, opinions on value are mixed, with some finding it pricey.
Its amenities, including a family-friendly pool and leisure center, are generally well-received, albeit with a few calls for updates. Its location is a boon, providing easy access to local attractions, and the atmosphere is consistently described as warm and welcoming.

Detailed Reviews
I stayed here for a few days. The staff are excellent and hard working. They do their utmost to make your stay comfortable. The guy on duty on the breakfast room door could be a more friendly. I arrived for breakfast 10 MINS early and he told me he would try to fit me in. There were numerous tables available. He asked me was I booked in for 9.30 or 10.a.m. It was9.50 when I spoke to him. I had booked for 10.a.m. Attitude not impressive. The breakfast is good. Plenty of choice for everyone. The gentleman on duty at pancake counter is a gentleman and is a credit to the hotel. He was always most helpful, pleasant and eager to please. The hotel is clean. Bed is very comfortable. The evening meal is disappointing. The choice is limited and the food is disappointing. It lacks flavour and imagination. I ate there on two occasions. I had chicken wings as a starter - the sauce was hot, unpleasant and devoid of flavour. I had salmon for my mains. It had no flavour. It was served on mash and very tired sprigs of broccoli. The evening menu needs to be addressed as regards the choice of food and the quality of taste. I ate elsewhere for the remainder of my stay. On the third day of my stay I had to request clean towels, water and tea making facilities to be replenished and bins in my bedroom to be emptied. It was done immediately once I requested it. A few improvements would enhance the hotel.

Response from Declan Moriarty, General Manager at The Park Hotel Dungarvan
Responded 5 Sept 2020
Dear 649geraldinen, Thank you for your review and very constructive feedback. I do apologise that you felt in anyway embarrassed by the way you were met at the breakfast entrance, this is certainly not the manner that our guests are seated at breakfast and i will investigate this further. I will certainly pass your comments on to the gentleman on the breakfast counter, he is an asset to the team. I am disappointed with your experience at dinner, did you highlight this to the Bistro Supervisor or Manager on the night, we would have offered you another option or would have addressed your feedback there and then. Our new Bistro menu we launched when we reopened in June and we have had fantastic comments which makes your experience even more disappointing for the team. All of the team put a massive emotional and physical effort into what they do. We have extended our resident menu which now includes 8 starters and 9 main courses so plenty of options to choose from. We do operate a policy that rooms will not be serviced on a stay over three nights less. This added measure we feel offers guest that extra sense of safety. This measure is communicated to all guest pre-arrival and also though a letter on arrival. At anytime guests are informed that their room can be serviced on request which i am pleased to read that you availed of. again my apologies for our short comings and thank you for your valued custom. I hope to have the opportunity in the future to offer you my hospitality yours in service Declan Moriarty General Manager

Our family of 6 stayed at The Park for 3 nights in 2 adjoining rooms. From the minute we arrived we were made welcome. We had a lovely lunch in the fabulous garden and 2 excellent evening meals. At times, staff were under pressure but maintained their good manner interacting with customers. The pool staff too were really helpful and my 3 kids really enjoyed the pool. Breakfast was a joy, all laid out well, mindful of restrictions and the staff always wore masks or visors. We were dawdling at breakfast on our last day but instead of rushing us, we were told to take our time & enjoy. The food was excellent, staff beyond excellent. The only cons I have were the heat of the rooms, perhaps an issue with the AC but also the weather was extremely humid and secondly we were situated at the back of the hotel at the delivery area and were woken up at 7am each morning with laundry, garbage etc. That said, it didn’t detract from our stay one bit and I’d be back in a flash. The manager made a point of asking us how our stay was on more than one occasion & we really had a feeling of being welcome & valued. Even as we checked out, the receptionist was genuinely keen to know how our stay was and happy to chat to us. Five stars guys & really well deserved, we will be back!

I was a little bit anxious as this was my first hotel stay since the covid arrival. The staff were so welcoming on arrival and made the process of booking breakfast and swimming time easy. The room was sealed and labeled as sanitized on our arrival, food at breakfast was individually wrapped or table service, the bar was table service only but we chose to drink in the lobby. The hotel was busy but had a relaxed atmosphere. The staff went out of their way to make sure that we enjoyed our stay and more importantly appeared genuine and happy to help. In hotel reviews people often refer to friendly staff, the hotel was lovely and the facilities were great but it really was the staff that made this a five star experience.

To whom it may concern firstly congratulations on the completion of the leisure centre as a loyal member for years was delighted to see it with a new facelift. The reception area is second to none.
However that’s as good as it gets on entering the dressing room I was disgusted to find the wall tiles are still on the floor and like an ice ring to walk on so dangerous can’t believe they were left there when the walls are covered with nonslip floor tiles?..The shower cubicles are newish but if you are in the last cubicle your feet are immersed in the water from the other showers because of the blocked drain which has been reported to staff both before and after the renovation hasn’t been cleaned. The deck on the pool hall is new and a credit to the tilers as is all their work but the condition of the water in the pool is frightening. The fact that it is a newly refurbished pool it would expected to have nice clear water instead milky coloured porridge. The fact that the pool is merky it very dangerous for swimmers because if they get into difficulty they cannot be seen at the bottom of the pool, lifeguards on duty will also find it difficult to spot an issue in the water. The quality of the water is alarming because you are swimming in a unfiltered puddle it seems, lighting in pool hall is worrying afternoon/nighttime,to have no ceiling lights on just the underwater lights makes it dangerous for swimmers and makes the water even more cloudy. Finally the sauna and steam room are in need of desperate attention, the area around the two are well done and very aesthetically pleasing but the inside of the two are far less appealing.Exactly one week ago the sauna bench broke and is still broken,it is literally hanging by a screw with no downward supports it has been reported multiple times by multiple people and the best effort made was a piece of red and white plastic tape that was up one day and was torn off.The steam room that was out of service all last week is now running but smells of sewer. All of the above are extremely worrying and dangerous posing multiple significant health hazard, these need to be addressed immediately for the welfare of your members and guests.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the self catering house on the grounds of the hotel. The house was clean and everything was in good working order. Our kitchen sink got clogged but John, the maintenance guy came in to fix it and couldn't have been more helpful. He was a lovely, friendly man.
We booked our slots in the pool for 9am every morning. We felt very safe as numbers were restricted and the changing rooms were cleaned and sanitised after each session.
There were daily activities and a movie every night for the kids. The pizza making went down well with our 2 boys.
The food in the bar was very good.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and we will stay there again.

We really enjoyed our 4 nights in The Park. All staff were friendly and most obliging. Hygiene was excellent and COVID regulations were strictly adhered to without being invasive- I particularly liked that no one entered our room during our stay unless we requested it. Towels etc were replaced as needed.
Breakfast was prompt and well run. Good variety and service was excellent.
We had dinner there also one evening and it was delicious.
We never used the pool/gym area as the weather was beautiful and we were out exploring the area most days.
Dungarvan itself was a delight . A huge variety of restaurants and cafes within walking distance.
We really enjoyed our stay in The Park and I would highly recommend the whole area to visitors

Check in was a breeze with the check in form emailed to me before our stay. Room was not ready but understandable due to extra cleaning requirements during covid 19.
Overall stay was pretty enjoyable. Two nights, we booked bikes with Greenway Bike Man who has a bikes on the grounds of hotel which was very handy. Breakfast was a little disorganised on the first morning but improved on day 2. Buffet selection was standard but very little hot options for vegetarians. Bar food was lovely and portions very generous. Only issues I had were we were given a room on ground floor, which was really handy as we thought at beginning but very noisy. Staff must have storage or facilities beside our room and were making alot of noise from 6.30am onwards.
Overall stay was good but did not meet its price tag of €85 per person per night compared to other Hotels I have stayed in.
Location is top for The Park Hotel.

My friend and I stayed at The Park Hotel for a 3 night cycling break.
The level of service for this, currently rated, THREE star hotel is off the scale. I actually had to ask one day, if it was a 4* hotel and was very surprised to hear it was only a 3*. The staff put a lot of effort into making your stay so very pleasant and that's why it feels like 4* treatment. They are the backbone of this establishment and should be appreciated for all their efforts, especially in this difficult period, trying to get out of Covid. A special shout out to JOY, who was spectacularly cheery of a morning, seating us to breakfast. Even if she did put 'baby' in the corner... we sure had some hearty laughs!
Breakfast was a particular delight. Nice to have buffet for cereals, fruit and juices, but what a joy to have a cooked breakfast and fresh toast brought to your table with a fresh pot of your morning drink. I loved that, such a nice change from the full buffet fare. Food was fresh, superbly cooked and totally delicious.
The bikes are available at the rear of the hotel and the location is so convenient for the greenway. Perfect! We choose electric and that enabled us to cycle the full distance to Waterford and back. How wonderful to take our frozen aching bodies back to our big room and dive under the covers to thaw and enjoy Netflix. Yes, that's another bonus... full complement of Netfix and Youtube for you to login and enjoy.
The pool is a nice addition and there is a gym, although the cycling was enough exercise for this weekend.
To round this up, I couldn't recommend the place more highly. Sure, some of the rooms are a little tired, but it is an older hotel and it's a full time job trying to keep up with decoration... and all trying to get going again after Covid stagnation. It's completely mitigated by the level of service and small details, like water every day in the room etc.
I can't wait to go back!

Traveled with my family to Dungarvan for the bank holiday weekend and we were left very disappointed with the level of service on our 2 night stay. Upon arrival at 3pm, we were all told (8 of us) that our rooms were not ready and there would be a 15/20 minute wait. This turned out to be over an hour in the case of 2 of the rooms. The rooms themselves were okay but the bed was extremely hard so a good night's sleep was not possible. There is also a note about the rooms only being cleaned every 3 days due to Covid restrictions. This really took away from our experience and we felt that at a minimum, fresh towels should have been provided.
On arrival to the pool at 9am we were told that we would need to come back at 9:30 due to a cleaning schedule. This would have been perfectly understandable if we had not called during the week to book the 9am slot.
On our last night, we sat inside the lobby for after dinner drinks and had to ask 4 times for the table to be cleaned from the last guests before this was finally actioned. In fairness, the manager appeared very capable and hands on as were the bar staff. Unfortunately, service levels stopped there. Notwithstanding this, Dungarvan is a great place to visit and we will be back but not to this hotel.

Response from Declan Moriarty, General Manager at The Park Hotel Dungarvan
Responded 5 Sept 2020
Dear Z6710IKannam Thank you for your review , I am disappointed that overall you did not enjoy your stay with us this summer. I am only getting to respond to review now as we had such a busy and successful July and August i just did not have the time. I hope to reply to all 80 reviews on this forum in which only three I would be disappointed with, so my point is that your experience would be somewhat of an isolated experience. However I do sincerely apologise for our short comings during your stay with us. I do apologise for the delay on check in and for the mix up it appears if your allocated booking slot for the health Club, on the day I informed the staff member to allow you in during the cleaning schedule. We do operate a policy where rooms are only serviced after three days, this does offer guests a greater sense of safety while staying, but we also operate a policy where rooms can be serviced on request and this is communicated to guest pre arrival and also by a letter which is in all bedrooms. Did you at any stage mention your disappointment to Management during your stay with us ? I am great believer that sometimes in the service industry its about turning a negative experience into a positive experience, this I assure I would have personally archived if i was aware of your disappointment. It was I who cleared your table on the last night you stayed, while i must add the member of your party was very abrupt in the tone he used when telling me the table was not cleared after three requests, i however did clear it with a smile and even attempted to converse in conversation. I did apologise for the table not being cleared and i personally ensured that it was kept clean for the remainder of the night. I trust that the food and service at dinner and at breakfast were of a high standard. Again I do apologise again for our short comings, Myself and all the team at the hotel put a massive emotional effort into providing all of our guests with an enjoyable and comfortable stay, especially during these very challenging times Should you feel that you may not afford us your custom again, i can recommend Lawlor's Hotel in the town centre or the Gold Coats Hotel which is a short drive outside Dungarvan Yours Sincerely Declan Moriarty General Manager

The Park Hotel Dungarven was perfect for our 3 night stay (June 2021). The location is excellent, just a 5 minute walk to Dungarven town centre and a great base for exploring the Cooper Coast, Waterford Greenway and nearby Cork.
Staff were exceptional from start to finish of our stay. Reception, bar and restaurant staff, housekeeping, leisure and swimming pool staff are a credit to the hotel.
The hotel adheres to Covid Guidelines and everything is well spaced out with plenty of sanitizer stationed around the hotel.
The manager, Declan, greeted guests and was extremely helpful with any questions or queries we has about the local area.
Breakfast was a served buffet which was perfect and felt safe with covid guidelines.
The bar/restaurant served beautiful food also with plenty of options to suit everyone's needs.
Would highly recommend this hotel for couples, solo travellers and families. I will definitely be returning again.

Hi, Yes family rooms in new section are large we stayed with 4 in one years ago, have adjoining rooms but would be more expensive.
Sorry I can't help you with this question as we had no pets with us on our visit but I don't remember seeing any around the Hotel or Grounds.
Hi yes we have a lift. On your reservation you can request ground floor or close to a lift. Let us know your requirements and we can match a room best suited for your needs.
Yes there is a lift but advise them if booking about your mums mobility issues and they should be able to offer you a downstairs room etc. I thought the staff were lovely. Plenty hand sanitizers etc around the hotel. They covered the tv remote with plastic that can be taken off and changed for next guest.
