Really great food. The chowder was really great. Quality food. Delicious toasted sandwich. Nice new decor, stylish and fun. Excellent service. Friendly and accommodating. Space for kids. Will defo return. Thank you
We ordered a take-out meal. We all had chowder. Son’s burger was spot on, as was the pasta, but the seafood platter stole the show. A bit of a hiccup sorted in seconds by Marie. Eat in or take out, the Mooring never disappoints. Great fresh flavours.
We finally got home from Edinburfh to see Mum and Dad in our home town of Dungarvan and celebrated by having family dinner here last night. Spectacular start to finish. Saoirse and David did a super job looking after us from the moment we arrived and the gentleman who delivered our food to the table wowed us with plates of gorgeous food. Great menu, great seating area, busy but safely so, delicious fresh food, big portions, great staff. What's not to like? We will definitely return and thank you for making our night special.
Just to set the scene, was meeting a good friend for first time in 3 years. The food was grand like, nothing to write home about. Usual fayre really. I will say their chips are very good! The service is fairly poor, a lot of young people on serving staff, possibly their first jobs, and hey I get it. Right now we are seeing a lot of food service businesses trying to form teams again and I have been so understanding about it. We will all get there eventually! And we have to allow people be trained to be fair. However, a really ignornant manager - that is another thing. So we have finished our desserts, and the table has not been cleared or have we been asked do we need anything else in a while but again, I am happy to be catching up with friend. Manager who really likes to drop his mask a lot is seating a group of 4 beside us. I ask him for the bill as I have not been able to grab anybody else's attention. I can't recall was it him or another member of staff who dropped it over, either way I immediately dropped my card on to the bill plate and move it to the side of the table ready to settle up. Nobody comes near us. We chat on for about 20 mins. Possibly even longer. Now, to be clear, Had anybody come near us at any point in the meal and said we need this table at X time we would have had zero issue with it. Next thing we hear, from the door in to the room we are in, in front of all the indoor dining guests, over the two girls sitting next to us, and with a group of 4/5 he is trying to sit right beside him: "Girls! We need that table for a reservation!" - really bloody gruffly. Immediately my friend and I begin to make a move before realising, hold up here, why are we the guilty party? I lift up the bill plate to show him and say I am waiting to pay. He must surely remember I had asked him for the bill in first place. The manager loses it and goes over to the bar where, after dropping his mask again, pleads with the young staff to "hustle". A young man comes over to us and asks is it the bill we want, I say no, just to pay. He brings over the machine and I pay. In the interim the manager seats the new group at a table near us and instructs the server to get them drinks on the house.... I could not let this go and I usually would! Especially in light of us all getting back on feet after Covid... I approached the manager on the way out and made it clear again that I was waiting to pay, nobody made us aware of any reservation due in, and that he had just shouted over the restaurant at us, which I found embarrassing and also a bit cringey for him - when the delay was proved to be his team and not two people trying to milk a sitting! He gave me a half hearted "oh I apologise" - only because I went right up to him and said it to him as publically as possible. He turned on his heel and just left. My friend who lives in Dungarven said that is the second time in as many visits she has witnessed him be unprofessional, and the first time was he was chawing with a young server who obviously had done something wrong. So when in Dungarven have great fun picking out your places to eat, but please, do not line this guy's pocket. Volatile, uncomfortable environment to try eat in!…
My family and I visited The Moorings on a wet afternoon. My phone was dead so I couldn’t access my vaccination cert so they charged it behind the bar for me! The staff were so helpful and the food was lovely. Would recommend the Pinot Grigio! A great experience.
Absolute disaster of a night. Where do I start? Ordered pre dinner drink while choosing dinner - starter arrived two minutes later. Finished starter and still waiting on pre dinner drink- had to ask again for it. Got mains but told they had no more baked potatoes- this was 6.15pm? Could no one have gone to SuperValu down the road? Got husbands mains wrong, also got table beside us mains wrong. Had to ask for cutlery and salt. Took salt off another couples table who were also waiting for their mains for a long time. No sanitizing of salt container. Charged for wrong mains. Ordered bottle of wine and had to remind them of wine. Very disappointed. The staff were very apologetic of everything but won’t be returning.
Called here without booking after cycling the Greenway, we missed a table indoors but were offed one outside, it was one of the dryer evenings Ireland had to offer this summer. Lovely setting, I can’t remember the waiters name, he was great, the service was very good and the food was excellent, plenty of choice, nice flavours and thought put into the dishes, not the usual big meal of chips etc, definitely visit again but will book the next time.
When visiting Dungarvan you have not had the whole experience until you wine and dine in the moorings. Excellent food, five different choices at the table and the level of satisfaction was brilliant. such a choice of seating. The most polite staff. The complete package for me.
We booked a table for six people for eight o'clock. When we arrived at eight o'clock we were greeted by a very rude man who told us that we were very late and that he would serve us a main course but he didn't have the time to serve us a starter. We got up from the table and left for a lovely Indian very close by where we were able to order a starter and the staff were very friendly.
So made a booking some weeks back for 13 people. On arrival met by lovely friendly staff. The menu was of great choice, the service was great the food excellent. However we were seated out the back in a tent on a picnic. Table, which was no where near the standard of surroundings as the main restaurant so very unfair to charge such high prices for poor seating and surroundings On that note I won't be back
