Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I were visiting our daughter in Ring and decided to stay in Kilcannon House overnight. Lucky us! When I called Gertie and asked could she make up a bed for my daughter, the answer was "No problem". When I asked could we bring our dog, we received the same answer. When we arrived on a cold winter evening, the bedroom was warm. Gertie had put on the electric blanket in the bed and there was a wood-burning stove in a separate room for us to relax in front of. Our daughter was asked if she wanted hot chocolate. There was nothing we wanted for. We relaxed in front of the fire, chatted with Pat and Gertie and read our books.
Pat and Gertie are just salt of the earth people. Pat was full of interesting stories and listened to our daughter playing the tin whistlem (God help him!) and gave her advice as he is a musician as well as a brilliant host.

Gertie informed us that we could come down for breakfast whenever suited. The breakfast was the best breakfast I've had anywhere in Ireland whether in a hotel or B and B. Three courses. Every fruit under the sun, porridge with brown sugar, cream and whiskey poured over it followed by our choice of poached eggs from the family hens and crispy bacon. They then informed us we could leave at our leisure as they had no guests arriving that morning.
We loved staying at Kilcannon House Bed and Breakfast. What a lovely couple! We wish them many more years of success. Thank you Chris, Lisa, Charlotte and Magic

We had a wonderful stay with Gertie and Pat. The bedroom and bed were extremely comfortable and the breakfast was exceptional – a great choice including some options not too often seen and everything cooked to perfection. Gertie and Pat are terrific hosts and really know how to make people feel welcome. This is a destination in itself, not just somewhere to stay in the area.

Just returned to Dublin after having an active and restful glorious treat in the gorgeous countryside and town of Dungarvan. Was well cared for by Pat and Gertie who had the fire lit everynight and the beds and rooms warmed for the cold wintery nights. Breakfast was to die for. Absolutely unique. Course after course of gorgeous home cooked delights. Dinners in Dungarvan were top quality too. Well worth treating yourself to this lovely spot as a getaway.

My wife and I, accompanied by another couple, returned to Kilcannon House for the nights of the 4th and 5th of October after an absence of two years. Everything about the place, Gertie & Pat , was again absolutely delightful. The food was superb, the breakfast, in particular, must rank as one of the best and most enjoyable to be had in the country, when compared with even what the best hotels have to offer. Believe me it is a real gem of a place! We all agreed we will be back next April as soon as it reopens.

A lovely farmhouse set in an idyllic very quiet location. House was spotless and decoration immaculate. Room was excellent and beds comfortable with a choice of either hard or soft pillows, or combination. Lovely modern ensuite, wardrobes and seating in room.
Breakfast, a 3 course meal, was excellent. The first course consisting of fruit grown in Gertie's own garden.
Unfortunately we only had 1 nights stay but we will be visiting again to have more time to enjoy this lovely accomodation and hosting of Gertie.
See you soon . Kevin Moriarty

What an amazing place, wonderful food and generous hosts. Gertie and Pat run a wonderful B and B which I’d recommend to anyone. The rooms are big and comfortable, the breakfast out of this world. Just allow yourself plenty of time to take it all in. Beautiful location and convenient for everything west Waterford has to offer from the Greenway to Lismore Castle and lots of beaches and hill walks too.

This is an outstanding B&B. Gerty is a great host, very personable and knowledgeable. The rooms are generous with great beds and quiet farm surrounding. Guests have access to a lovely garden and sitting room. The breakfast is near miraculous! It is worth it just for breakfast. Gerty is a fabulous chef.
