Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a family breakfast here on Saturday. The food and service was excellent. Everyone in my group enjoyed it and said it was the nicest breakfast they had in a long time. The waiter made sure we had plenty of toast and top ups of tea and coffee. Excellent Service thank you

We had a really lovely stay at this hotel. The staff were excellent and there was a very friendly, homely atmosphere as soon as we arrived. Rooms were clean and beds very comfortable. The owner, Fred is a lovely man and he and his staff go out of their way for guests, nothing was too much trouble. Special thanks to Michael and Maureen. We had great craic with the locals in the bar, everyone was so friendly. All round, very positive experience.

The staff and the owner are very welcoming. The all day breakfast is the best around. I am a local resident myself so I can't review the the hotel rooms but the food is top class and the friendly atmosphere is second to none. Looking forward to going back again.

Myself and 3 friends walked into the bar , there was clearly no covid 19 rules being adhered to. There wasnt one plate of food to be seen , nor a menu or even cutlery. As we sat down at an empty table to order some food , a rude man approached us and asked " booking?" I replied no but before i got a chance to explain we were looking for food, I was told " not a chance" and escorted to the door with my friends. Door slammed behind us and the lights turned off.

Thanks so much for our lovely stay, all the staff were super friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The rooms were comfortable and the shower was great. The breakfast was also very enjoyable. A great place to stay if you’re doing the stairway to heaven

I have no idea where the reviews across the page are talking about.
The front of the hotel looks like a dark tacky pub with flashing light in the window?, the reception area and I presume it would be called a restaurant/bar as people were eating there was tired and looked grubby.
The lady from the bar came through and said she could not show us our rooms as she was busy and gave us the keys. We went upstairs and came back down immediately as the rooms were horrible, tired, musty and grubby. The lady said she would get the Manager who came through and was stroppy and obviously offended and said we would have to pay for the night as he could not rent the room which we did, but he charged us the full price and said he did not get any of the £20 deposit from our booking? The place and people were unwelcoming and I would not have eaten breakfast there as I did not feel it looked clean. I have missed the sleep rating below as we did not stay and that pleasure cost us 100 euros plus another 100 euros for another hotel.

It is inexpensive (likely 2 star) basic hotel that is owner managed, with friendly and helpful staff and good basic food. We met loyal fisherman residents that had returned there for their 42nd consecutive year. Clean basic rooms and a "traditional" breakfast that would keep you going all day

Stayed in the Commercial back in 2012, with my Partner! Over all Ballinamore is a lovely place as they say lovely Leitrim! Rooms are very basic within the hotel, if a elderly couple were to stay i would safely say they would not enjoy it as there is a local nightclub within the hotel. And as far the bar man goes, he has absolutely no personality what so ever and SHOULD not be working within the hospitality industry, in my opinion he would run all customers away with that personality!!!!

I was booked by a seperate body for a local event taking place. When I arrived at 10 o' clock that evening, I was greeted by a surly male "receptionist" dressed in t-shirt and sweat-pants. He immediately asked for my Visa and when I thought he was just going to swipe my card, it turns out he actually charged me before I had a chance to see my room. It was disgraceful, especially as it is supposed to be of three-star standards. I was staying by myself but when I reached the room, I was greeted by two tiny single beds. The room was dingy, faded wall paper, a gaping hole in the wall behind the door, no bedside lamp, broken chair, filthy bathroom, crummy carpets, the works. The view from the window was of the dumpsters behind the hotel and the noise outside was insufferable. I can't say what breakfast was like because I wouldn't risk it - I just booked out the next morning. Why is this supposed to be three stars? - Avoid, even if your life depends upon it.
