Great location for exploring the surrounding lakeside towns and villages. Situated close by are both the car ferry terminal and the lake shuttle stop. Tickets can be purchased for hop on hop off service around the lake. Hotel is comfortable and well presented with friendly staff. All in all worth the visit and 5 night stay.

This is a massive old British Style hotel that caters for large groups of tourists and can be noisy and overwhelming for a family. The large lobby and lounges do have wifi but rooms are old fashioned with dated furniture and a very small weak shower. A bit musty, the rooms need modernizing. We got to breakfast at 7:30 but...

Four of us recently stayed at the Britannia Excelsior for six nights on a Shearings all inclusive basis. The journey was overnight on the coach but was soon forgotten as we arrived at the hotel in time for breakfast, which we had to pay for. After breakfast our rooms were ready so we were able to unpack and enjoy the...

Spent 6 nights on an all-inclusive Shearings trip at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday! Although our room was at the rear, we still had a super view of Caddenabia and a couple of 'mountains'. I didn't care for the lower ground floor bar, it's a peculiar shape and lacked ambience. Nevertheless, we used it ocasionally and the G&Ts...

We stayed here for 6 nights on a Shearings all inclusive coach holiday. The journey wasn't as tortuous as we had imagined (it was our first coach holiday) and our drivers Danny & Brian were excellent. However, we and many others thought the coach seats lacked comfort - taking your own seat cushions/pads is a must. A lot of the...

We have just come back from a wonderful Shearings holidays staying at this beautiful hotel in Lake Como. Also returning ,having made some new friends with the the same friendly outlook in life. First of all our driver Paul needs to be mentioned here. Paul collected us from our UK pick up point. His driving and his unique knowledge needs...

We stayed here with Shearing's. The place was absolutely stunning, the views were beautiful. The hotel was okay but our room as very small and the bathroom you could not hardly move in. Our towels & sheets were not changed the whole time we were there which I found bad as a three star hotel I felt they should have...

Although this must have been a grand hotel in the past it is definitely showing its age. The rooms where clean and pleasant and the decor typical of the area. The food however was a different matter. Poor selection, barely warm and basically just meat and two veg. I would compare it to school dinners but that would be unkind...

This was my first visit to Lake Como and boy oh boy was I impressed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and there was so much choice. Lovely rooms, even though I didn't manage to get a lake view but we can't all be that lucky. The view over the lake was stunning from the...
