We were booked into the Dana Villas as part of a package deal. The room was stupendous BUT 200 steps to get to it (no elevator) so folks need to be in reasonable physical condition, work on your StairMaster beforehand!

Note: I had to walk 123 steps down to the suite 109 from the main road where the car drops you off. There was a wind and chill factor at play since I was there in mid-March, and the tourist season begins mid-April. The weather is unpredictable, with sometime rain snd sometime

My partner and I had the opportunity to stay here at the conclusion of a 6 week holiday. We were greeted by the warmest welcome from two friendly ladies at the front reception. As we travelled at a non-peak time, they upgraded us to a beautiful poolside villa. This was stunning.

The one with the largest pool is called private pool villa or something like that. It was the only one with 2 bedrooms, but this is the one that needed some updating, painting, etc. We still had a wonderful time though. What surprised me were the rusted out metal end tables and the fact that the pool needed to be resurfaced. One advantage to that suite was that it was higher up and didn't have as many steps up to the main area. There were still 93 though. My husband counted them.

They have a number of rooms with similar names including 'superior suite', 'superior villa', 'superior pool suite', so it can be confusing. The Superior Pool Suite is the one we stayed in, and yes, ours had a lovely & private infinity pool

Yes, it was deplorable. We had booked one of the most expensive rooms - about $900 USD per night and well over a year in advance. I had a huge paper trail and then had even paid in advance to get a reduced rate. About a month in advance I emailed them about a birthday cake and/or a dinner reservation and next thing I knew I was being told they had a reservation system problem and that for the first few nights we couldn't stay at Dana at all. They had booked in a place not as nice and the suite was way, way smaller. I mean WAY smaller. I insisted I would not accept it and we finally got booked in a nice place for the 2 nights and then at Dana for the next 3. We had the huge 2 bedroom private villa and it was in deplorable condition, particularly for that price. The pool needed to be refinished, was never cleaned the entire time we were there, lots of painting should have been done. The end tables were metal and completely rusted. Needless to say I was SHOCKED. The problem is that Santorini is so darn expensive that if you want a private pool most of the places are even more expensive. I had my heart set on our having our own pool and at least we did have that. The view from where we were was spectacular. The rumors around the island were that they have a lot of weddings there and if they decide the need "your" room for the wedding guests, they will bump you off, no matter how far in advance you booked.
