Our second time to île Rousse and second time to this hotel that we live. Small, great staff, great breakfast, very comfortable rooms, reasonably priced and excellent location. We hesitate to review it so positively as we don’t want it to be so hard to get into when we come back. But as they are so wonderful we also want them to be highly successful.
Just back from a week at L'Amiral, our first visit to Corsica. All in all, this hotel offers excellent value for money. The location can't be bettered (although I would say you do need to pay extra for the sea view rooms). Very comfortable beds! Fabulous view of the gorgeous beach, but no noise thanks to the double set of sliding doors, and the shutter. The staff were exceptionally friendly, the rooms are cleaned every day and are spotless, and there's both a kettle and fridge in the room for that morning cup of coffee or tea (and to keep a couple of beers cold . . .). Parking is available, and if the hotel car park is full (which I think it probably would be if the hotel were full) then parking on the road seems to be free anyway. Five minute stroll to the main part of town, and lots of bars and restaurants en route as well as in the town. Enjoyable to sit and watch locals playing boules in the main square, whilst sipping a cold drink from one of the bars which overlook it. Drinks were a little more expensive than we had assumed (8 euros for a pint of beer). Any negatives? Only to be picky really - bathroom is poorly designed as the shower leaked onto the floor, but also there is nowhere so put the soap next to the sink, and nowhere to store toiletries. A shelf and a soap dish would sort both out. (The leaking shower we mentioned only when we checked out, so this could be purely our room and probably put right by now). Otherwise, nothing negative about the hotel at all! We had a hire car which I think is probably necessary to get the best out of Corsica unless you just want to lounge on the beach every day. We did go to Calvi on the train though, just to try it out. We also took the car to Calvi another day and went to St Florent (beautiful harbour resort, well worth the trip over the mountain road) and Bastia, plus a never ending array of mountain villages each with a view more stunning than the last. Go if you can! …
Fantastic location. Lovely hotel..very clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Right on the beach. I booked a room with a balcony overlooking the sea. Well worth the extra money. Kettle and fridge in room which was very handy. Going again in June 2018.
I made a reservation in july and 28 days before the reservation i cancelled cause a member of my family is really ill and we couldnt go. We were supposed to go middle september. Just the day before i was going to cancel they charge me 85€ that it was one night. I wrote to them to see if they were kind and give me the money back and they said no. Not nice at all! I understand if i cancel 10 dsys before i go, but 28 days!! Is nearly a month. Thanks again hotel l amiral
Very nice location, in the morning very good for running along the sea up the hill and back. We stayed 2 nights and did a trip to calvi with the train. Calvi is nice but i was glad i stayed at ile rousse, more quiet and relaxed. The train to calvi (45min) is overcrowded and very hot Pros: very good location close to the beach. We had room 6 with a sea view, balcony, minibar, very friendly/helpful ladies at the reception, there is a shop around the corner (casino). The room has 2 glass doors to the balcony so you hear nothing from the train passing by and has also a roller shutter. The staff is very friendly! Free parking is available.
