This was our first trip to Santa Teresa. We weren't sure where to stay and got lucky upon finding this fantastic hotel. The food was delicious at Shambala and the staff was friendly and professional! We loved the short walk down to the beach and hammocks to relax in. We rented surf boards across the street at Adrenalina. They were...

A beach front find! Great hotel, food, staff, drinks and yoga. We stayed in a bungalow and loved the beach cabanas for breakfast, lunch and tropical cocktails. Hammocks and Adirondacks on the beach make afternoon naps easy. World class surfing is directly offshore, so leave your floaties at home. We are headed back for sure, it was just what we...

The rooms, the restaurant, the pool, the beach, the staff, everything was amazing. So much fun. Great hotel to accommodate the Pura Vida Adventures group. The rooms have a/c and other convenient amenities. The yoga studios with up close ocean view is definitely something to experience.

This is a fabulous hotel. There are a number of cabanas some along the beach others garden front. The cabanas are excellent, large and well equipped w fridge. The rooms have A/C and the bathroom products you will want to bring your own as they too are basic. The restaurant is absolutely excellent. Really good. The staff are attentive and...

I spent 5 nights at Tropico Latino with a group of friends. The rooms were comfortable and clean, within steps to the beach to view stunning sunsets. The staff were always available to help answer questions and assist with planning activities during our stay. Food was some of the best I've had - delicious smoothies every morning and fresh vegetables...

Santa Teresa is a hip, casual surf/beach town and the Tropico Latino manages to keep that vibe with a relatively pricey place that is beautiful and laid-back but has all the qualities of a good hotel, like a mellow restaurant where you can eat great food and watch the waves roll in, superior service personnel who are friendly and helpful...

Rain is so fickle in Costa Rica, especially this time of year. It might rain in one spot and 1 mile away it will be sunny. Or it might cloud up and rain for 30 minutes and then be gone. Costa Rica is heading into dry season now, so the rain in Santa Teresa will be less and less ... and anyway, the rain helps cool things down, which is very appreciated after a day in the hot tropical sun. :-)

We used tons of bug spray there. No spraying for Zika that I could tell. Sorry for the delay in responding. I didn't notice your question. We needed bug spray all over Costa Rica. Take lots.

I could see how the rooms close to the road could be noisy. Lots of traffic going by. Trucks, ATV's We were closer to the beach. It was so peaceful and gorgeous there. This is not a huge property and all the cabins were spacious and comfortable. We were in number 5 and all we heard were howler monkeys at night.

Hi there, looks like you asked this a couple of months ago, so hopefully found the answer by now! I took a small charter flight from San Jose out to Mal Pais. We then took a cab to the hotel.

No need for a car for anything in playa Carmen. Great eating options walking distance from TL. Amazing Italian bakery, Mafras, right across the st from the hotel. We spent 20 days at TL without a car, and loved it. Not much for nightlife/clubs in Santa Teresa, but beaches, hiking, and surfing are world class.
