Tropical Latino is a family run hotel in a good location with friendly and welcoming staff. The hotel, that is not inexpensive, is a bit dated and would benefit with some refurbishment. The restaurant is expensive and has a limited menu. The yoga facilities on the beach is a

I went to Santa Teresa for a surf camp and we stayed at this hotel. I was so impressed by the food, the service, and the hotel rooms! The closeness to the beach (and especially the hammocks) were also a plus! Would definitely go back!

Honestly I am not sure because we fly into San Jose because we live in south florida and flights there are cheap. Then we take Nature Air into Tambpr then it's like 30 40 minutes by car. I will say this if you are travelling in rainy season know that the roads wash out and if that happens you can only get in and out by motorcycle. It's a GREAT town ... go!

Can I check on the weather while you were there?
Rain is so fickle in Costa Rica, especially this time of year. It might rain in one spot and 1 mile away it will be sunny. Or it might cloud up and rain for 30 minutes and then be gone. Costa Rica is heading into dry season now, so the rain in Santa Teresa will be less and less ... and anyway, the rain helps cool things down, which is very appreciated after a day in the hot tropical sun. :-)

We used tons of bug spray there. No spraying for Zika that I could tell. Sorry for the delay in responding. I didn't notice your question. We needed bug spray all over Costa Rica. Take lots.

I could see how the rooms close to the road could be noisy. Lots of traffic going by. Trucks, ATV's We were closer to the beach. It was so peaceful and gorgeous there. This is not a huge property and all the cabins were spacious and comfortable. We were in number 5 and all we heard were howler monkeys at night. 🙈

Hi there, looks like you asked this a couple of months ago, so hopefully found the answer by now! I took a small charter flight from San Jose out to Mal Pais. We then took a cab to the hotel.
