Pacifica is in a great location, VERY close to the beach and in the center of all the shops and restaurants. The pool was clean, AC worked great, and the hot water got very hot. Paco (the hotel dog) is such a sweet guy, he walks with you to the beach and hung out with us for the majority of the day. We loved his company!!!! The kitchenette was nice because you can go to the store and cook at the hotel instead of going out every night. Theirs a security guard overnight which is nice. Simone was very nice and was such a huge help with coordinating our shuttle ( Tropical Tours) to and from the airport. The only thing I didn’t love was that their were a lot of bugs in the room, which was to be expected in a place like Costa Rica. Considering the price and the location, Pacifica is the PERFECT place. We will be back!!!…
I would not recommend this surf rental shop. The Italian man running the shop gave no direction in helping us select surf boards but rather, seemed most concerned with informing us of the repercussions of "splitting a board" and the associated costs from that. The entire experience seemed like a scam waiting to happen, with a major credit card deposit required to rent very beginner boards which resembled Styrofoam blocks more than a surf board.
Run away. I paid 50 dollars for a surf lesson, it was a joke: the so-called instructor made no warm up, did not give any directions nor advices. He complained about the timeslot and waves conditions all the time we spent on the water. I broke a fin with my elbow falling from a wave and hurt myself. The boards to rent are old and badly maintained. Hopefully I could see the leach was about to break, if not I would have lost it with my deposit. When we asked for our money back, the crooked italian guy played the classic acting "I cannot do anything, the owner is away" and even called the police pretending we were attacking him. The local police is unable to do anything about this, they were very sorry. The complaint must be done at the fiscal police in Cobano. Do not get abused by these guys.…
When we arrived at 6:30 pm, nobody from the hotel was there. Somebody from a surf shop in front of the hotel showed us the booked room (upstairs) and told us, next morning some staff would be there. The room was much smaller than we could estimate on booking.com and not enough for 2 adults and 3 kids. It was very sticky and dirty. The pool looked dirty... So we decided not to check in and look for another hotel in St.Teresa. We did not get our money back so far, because next morning the "staff" told us that he can not decide this. The owner is from Europe and not accessable...
Lots of stuff in room broken, Light fixtures, bathroom fixtures, safe key. Property unkept in general. The worst part was I broke my surfboard in the surf one morning and one of the Tico's working on site wanted me to give him the fins from my broken surfboard. He approched me about this and when I declined to give them to him (value about 85$ U.S.) He became very purposely rude and disgruteled about it. I would defiantly avoid this place. Not cool at all to stay there.
