Staying at "a Whale of a Time" was a experience i'll always remember! Beautiful scene from your suite are to kill for. From there you can travel by foot to the most attractive, cute and interesting shops with their funky clothes, antique furniture, haberdashery and coffee shops. Fantastic beaches with the most beautiful blue waters and silky white sand. I...

Great base from which to explore, or simply to hang out at Fish Hoek, the local beach has a great restaurant where you may stay the whole day swimming or tanning. Whale of a time we have stayed several times in various configurations and numbers, from the large thatched lodge below to various suites on the upper levels, each suite...

We have stayed here twice, in June 2010 in the midst of the World Cup and again in May 2011. The first time it felt like they had saved us. We had received a very reasonable quote from A Whale of a Time before we flew to Cape Town , but unfortunately we got it after we had already reserved...

I will start by saying we LOVED the view. Beautiful any time of day. We were late for the whales unfortunately. The apartment itself was clean and nice but missed some things that I think makes a 4 star rating valid. The bed is a mattress on top of a wood frame and it squeeked every time one of us...

Whale of a time was a great little place. We stayed in the Stone Cottage which was really charming. The views were amazing from every window! Unfortunately it is not whale season, but spectacular view nonetheless. It really had everything we needed. There were quite a few steps to and from the cottage, but this was clearly communicated to us...

We had a unbelievable holiday at a whale of a time, where nothing was a problem, and all the staff and management were terrific. The view of the sea, sunrises to die for, and the whales in the bay was beyond all expectations. The apartments were spotless and serviced daily with such friendly staff. If you want my personal recommendations...

I lost my heart at "A Whale of a time". This was not the 1st time that we stayed there. I love the place. From the balcony I can relax, read and enjoy the sights & sounds from the ocean. We have seen the whales last October 2009 must better from the balcony than from the whale boat. Fishhoek en...

Located up a hill, A Whale of a Time was the perfect respite. The caretakers were courteous and helpful and the amenities and proximity to the beach made it an ideal way to end a wonderful trip. An easy drive away from Muizenberg and Simon's Town. A great place to hang your hat while you relax.

“The cottage we were in are lovely and very private, although all off the guest uses the swimming pool that are situated at your cottage. If you have a problem with climbing steps I recommend a suite at the main building. Luxurious! All of the suites have sea views!”

“All rooms are sea facing, behind you is a huge mountain. Have all meals on your patio and watch the sea below for whales and dolphins, we saw a school of dolphins swim past one afternoon, as well a whale basking on surface one morning, you may see all the way across the bay to Gordon's Bay and Rooielsbaai in the distance.”
