The Adventure Lodge is located in the Tongaririo National Forest town. The town is in an ideal location near the start of the Alpine crossing and there are many shuttles running each day. It’s a very small town, with a single grocery store and gas station and only a few places to get a bite to eat. The Adventure Lodge... More

Stayed two nights for the Tongario Crossing: + Well but military style organized. Be on time, sit where you be seated, do not have extra wishes. + Very clean shared toilet/bathroom. - Neither a single hook to hang something in the room nor a cupboard or shelf. For a single Ok but for couples. - Only the first email was... More

We booked the Freedom package and found it perfect for us. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and the meals and packed lunch great. The transport supplied was on time and worked a dream. Our hosts were all very friendly and informative. The Spa was the perfect end to a perfect day. Would highly recommend it. Thanks so much Jason... More

We stayed here the night before hiking the Tongariro Crossing. It's about 30-40 minutes from the Ketetahi car park. We just got the basic bed (private) and shared bathroom and it was about 80 bucks. The room had a light, heater. And electrical outlet. The showers were clean and the staff was friendly. The lodge and bedroom had an odd... More

We stayed 3 nights in a nice studio unit. The place was perfect for us - a family with 2 adults and one 3 year old. Nice and clean rooms and with a small kitchen so we could make our own breakfast and lunch. The owners were very friendly and helpful - and gave great guidance for the Tongariro crossing.... More

This property surprised us in a good way! The rooms were quite spacious (we had a ground floor studio unit), nicely styled, and well kept. We had a kitchenette in the room, but there was also a full sized kitchen with all the utensils avaialable right across the parking lot. We had the fully cooked breakfast in the morning, and... Stayed again to complete the Tongariro crossing which we were unable to e before due to an earlier eruption. Well looked after, very comfortable motel unit. Interestingly almost unique in our experience of NZ motel units had double glazing and central heating, not that we needed either in February.

Room is very basic with limited facilities but it did the job and the price was reasonable. Jason was excellent with his briefing in the morning- made us feel a lot more confident about the crossing. Unfortunately not all the staff were so welcoming- bordering on rude.
