Waiting I weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Yes the place could do with a tidy up - but it sure oozes character. Great staff! Friendly and helpful. The roast lamb is Devine! Would love to do a murder mystery weekend there. Thanks.

I stayed here with a friend for a couple of nights whilst touring the Waitomo Caves. The Hotel is a grand old historic mansion which has loads of old world character about it. It's floor boards creak, and the carpet is in need of desperate replacement, and the bedroom furniture is a mix-match of styles and era. The bathroom appears...

The hotel sits impressively upon the hill overlooking the small settlement that is Waitomo. Upon getting closer to the hotel you realise that it is long past it's best, with paint peeling off all the grandiose wooden facades. Inside the carpet is threadbare, the wallpaper marked and scuffed and more peeling paint. Our room was on the top floor, up...

We used the Waitomo Caves Hotel as a venue for some company training. Corinne, Janet and the other staff were very friendly, helpful and organised, making sure the day went smoothly. The food was amazing, and they were happy to cater to our needs. Last minute changes and requests were not a problem, and the room was set up, as...

Outside appearance looks like something from another era. It is n need of attention, the building that is, the staff were excellent. The room was small but adequate. 2 bedroom family room about $229 peak season. It was clean just needed some tender loving car, paint, flooring etc.

This is the second time we have stated here, the last was 6yrs ago. It is definitely an old world style hotel that on first impression has seen its day. However that's not the case. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are dust free, the linen was soft and fresh, the towels were soft and of a high quality....

Have always fancied staying here. Pros: close to the villiage. Clean. Cheap ish. A piece of kiwiana. Cons: no check in til 2pm- the sign told me. My room was very small. Basic brekkie. Service varied depending on which staff were on. Give it a try.

I booked two rooms as my husband and I were showing family from Scotland around New Zealand. It was the final night of our tour so we decided to spend a bit more. The pictures of our room type looked lovely on their website but the rooms were simply nothing like those photos. They were old and chipped, the bathroom...

Initial thought when we first drove up the driveway to this hotel....creepy! It was like walking into a haunted house in a horror movie. We were about half an hour early for check in and the lady behind the desk didn't hesitate to let us know this. She did not seem happy to be there at all. Thankfully, once we...

Up on the hill, surrounded by lovely gardens and native bush - character plus! Great local produce on the menu, friendly staff... everyone says that, I know. But literally every one we met had a smile and a chat.
