My wife and I stayed at Hotel Turismo in Huancayo for 4 nights in April 2019. It was not a good experience overall. Pluses: 1. The location is great. Right on the square. 2. Breakfast is good. Minuses: 1. Beds hard as rock. We did not sleep well. 2. Wifi disconnects every 5 minutes, forcing you to reconnect. 3. Poor management. One evening at approx 8PM, we informed the front desk that somebody had thrown up all over the floor of the Mens bathroom across from the bar. After breakfast the next morning, I used the restroom again and it still had not been cleaned. 4. Poor customer service by management, we were given bad information by one of their new employees and forced to absorb the cost of it. When we initially contacted them to make a reservation and told to make a wire transfer to confirm reservation as they do not accept credit cards. Which we did and it was an expensive time consuming nightmare. The transfer got lost because of a bad # we were given. In the end, we had to pay at the hotel by credit card. The hotel manager refused to compensate us for the time and cost of the wire transfers. $40 out, $25 back in. $65 total.

The hotel inside is nice but the rooms are basic. No lamps on end table so only overhead lighting is available. No cream or conditioner. No iron or hair dryer. No safety box. Breakfast is good with fresh products. The paintings and decoration are nice. There is a bar with live band. It is clean and it has hot water. I keep coming back. It is comfortable but a bit basic.

We arrived late after a 14 hour train trip. the staff were very friendly but perhaps a little disorganised - they were not sure where our room was and had to search for it! The room was massive and had a separate seating area - more of a suite than a room really. the hotel was rather noisy - our room was above a function room and we could hear the singer and band clearly. Cant comment on the breakfast because we left early

Handsome building, well situated, but cold; would help if the welcome was a bit warmer. Room fine, except for one of our group there was resolutely no hot water for two days. Restaurant ok - the breakfast room was the one area with identity and warmth. Not cheap, but does the job; active management would work wonders (starting with Reception).

'Mas o menos' - some good points, but then ... Well located, looks good externallly, public spaces and rooms impressive in a traditional way. Strengths: staff service good and a good breakfast. Bedroom then disapppointing: comfortable, yes, but basic and more like a 'hostal'. Wifi proved intermittent and involved repeated visits to Reception.

This is not a luxury hotel but for traveling or business it does very well. The decor in the lobbies and breakfast room is great but the rooms are pretty plain. The breakfast is included and is a well prepared buffet that has all the essentials. The fresh bread is the best.

After walking into several hotels and being turned away as they were full, we walked into Hotel Turismo, and we did not regret it. Included in the US 60 price for a twin room was a buffet breakfast in their very old school saloon complete with antique cash registers. Old world charm also came with comfort. Although the rooms were slightly small, they were comfortable. The hot water shower worked perfectly, and the pile of blankets kept us warm through the night, giving us a good night's sleep.

The Hotel Turismo has a special rate in their webpage for guests who travel by train from Lima to Hunancayo. They say 2 nights for USD 99.-- including breakfast. Unfortunately when you call the hotel to book the package, they say it is not available and you have to pay the official room rate which is about double of the special package price.

I learned that FEW hotels and homes have any type of heat. I learned to use the blankets and was told when it gets colder, use more blankets. The hotel was clean and well maintained, yet not that new. Staff tried to be helpful, but had limited English.
