My wife and I stayed here back in November for our first trip to Mexico ever. We would recommend to any of our friends to stay here when visiting the Yucatan. Alfred and Emily were excellent hosts. They were readily available every morning at breakfast to give us tips on all of the little jaunts that we took about Izamal...

Colour stretches as far as the eye can see…we saw a small door in a stone wall, with a sign that read “Macan-Che B&B.” We found the parking lot across the street, which has covered spaces. Saw several goats walking by, when we got out of the car! Then, over to the stone wall, and in through the door, we...

We stayed at Macan Che for three nights in December (including New Year's Eve). The place is a collection of small houses set amid a beautiful, jungle-like garden. (Those of you who have house plants at home might find it interesting to see some of your plants growing wild and enormous in a tropical setting.) Our room was clean, and...

Thanks to all writers for the kind reviews and constructive criticism. I would only like to clarify the last posts' comments on our tipping policy. We have just begun to offer dinners in a typical restaurant fashion since November 2006. Because most people we find prefer to pay their bill at check out (this also helps us very much since...

Three nights at Hotel Macanche were a delight for my body & soul. The grounds were beautiful, the rooms were spacious, and the owners extremely personable and helpful. And the cooking by Chef Alfred was inspired and original. Fellow guests were mostly European and were delightfully diverse. All in all, a wonderful oasis in a spectacular region of the Yucatan.

We stayed at the Macan Che in November with two children aged 4 and 8. Izamal is a lovely town and the Macan Che is just a few blocks from the center of the town's many attractions, including the market, plaza, pyramids and convent. We stayed in a spacious, clean and nicely-decorated bungalow. The property is beautifully-maintained with a lovely...

It’s been almost a year since I spent New Year’s week at Macanche Bed and Breakfast and I deeply reminisce the days I spent in Izamal. I long the days when I had Alfred’s delicious pancakes and fruit w/yogurt while I listened to birds chirp and the Mayan wind hum. My days at Macanche were magical! I adventured and escaped...

I have stayed at Macanche several times during my travels in Yucatan. Each time has been a wonderful and enlightening experience. Walking into the grounds a blissful peace descends on me and stays with me until my departure. The rooms, while simple, are clean and comfortable. The rock pool is amazing, expecially at night. And the gardens, for me the...

I visited Macanche last March for my spring break. Since I went to school in the North East I was eager to escape the dreary cold of March. Macanche was the perfect medicine to cure my winter blues. Right when you step through the front gates of Macanche it feels as though you have left the world and stepped into...

My wife and I originally were going to stay only a couple of nights but we enjoyed Alfred , his staff, the rooms and the atmosphere that we made the decision to make the Macanche our home base for the entire week. If you are looking for a place to relax and truly enjoy the sights and be centrally located...

I went with a few friends to Mexico in March of this year. We stayed at Macanché B&B in Izamal which is the perfect location in the Yucatan. From there we took several day trips to Progreso, Merida, Ek Balam, Dzibilchaltun, Valladolid (my favorite), and several other places. Macan ché is the most relaxing and beautiful place I've ever stayed...
