We really enjoyed our weeks' holiday here - it is very peaceful location set off the main road with spacious parking, beautiful garden with plenty of outdoor seating. Our room was very comfortable with a view of the fields and although there were some minors changes due to covid they did not detract from the holiday. The outstanding feature of this accommodation is their breakfasts with such a large range to choose from and cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed an evening meal whilst staying which was also delicious with a lovely bottle of red wine. Tim and Helen were great hosts and it is a very beautiful region of Wales to visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at The Od Vicarage. Its somewhat gaunt redbrick exterior belies a comfortable interior, including a very pleasant lounge which we hadn’t expected. Our room, Mule (named after the local river not the animal), was not huge but perfectly big enough, with an excellent bed. The bathroom was reasonably large (and had a lovely view!); there was a bath with shower over it, which proved to be a bit on feeble side, though adequate. Not knowing the culinary delights of Newtown, we had prebooked an evening meal and were glad we did. There is no choice, however you are asked beforehand if there is anyone you don’t want (or can’t have). The main course was an outstanding salmon en croute which was far better than I’d expected, restaurant standard in fact – and there was a lot of it! There is a short wine list which is much appreciated. Breakfast is usually set out as a buffet with hot dishes cooked to order. My wife opted for omelette with laverbread, which she raved about, while I had a simply superb kipper, the best I’ve ever had in fact. The meal was topped off with toast and home-made quince jelly. We really enjoyed our stay in what is a wonderful but little-visited part of the world, and certainly plan to stay again. Tim and Helen are excellent hosts.

Thanks very much for your review. We come from a restaurant background, hence a high standard in the dining room! Showers are certainly not power driven but as you say adequate and we do try and be as green as we can for our environment. We certainly do live in a beautiful part of Mid Wales! Best Wishes Tim & Helen

Having arrived in the dark, I lost my bearings to where was best to park my vehicle and even where the correct door was. But common-sense prevailed and I made it there. Having been greeted at the door by Tim, I was shown to my room. The room was a good size for my needs and clean. When I say clean, this was spotlessly clean. The place was quiet so I had a wonderful nights rest. I was asleep early, so I wasn't venturing round at all. But I did find a splinter in my thumb from earlier in the day that was now really annoying me. I had nothing sharp to help extract it. Fortunately, I eventually spied the sewing kit on the window that was an absolute saviour. You won't get that in a Premier inn nor the level of cleanliness. Breakfast was perfect for what I needed and they were both lovely and helpful to any requests. Fresh coffee was on the table in the time it took to brew, which was just what is needed in the morning and not a 10 minute wait. The thing I really did love about the room was the bedside lamps. One either side of the bed. Such character and convenience. Will be looking for similar for my own house now.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this Little Gem tucked away in the hills of Mid Wales, just above Newtown, Powys. I had a delightful room, beautifully decorated and very comfortable, with everything I needed for a nights stay. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, with fresh ground coffee, fresh baked bread and local preserves. A delight. I thoroughly recommend a stay at this Little Gem.

Greeted by Helen and shown directly to a gorgeous room. Spacious with everything you would need and more. Offered places to eat and a suitable time for breakfast. So clean and tidy with luxury bathroom items and soft towels and a dressing gown. High class tea and coffe including fruit teas and water in the room. Gorgeous view over the countryside from the room. Greeted in the morning by Tim and taken to the breakfast room. Breakfast was super with a range of hot and cold items including a breakfast special. Homemade and local produce used and for sale to take home. Nothing was too much trouble and such a lovely couple to make my stay just perfect. A top class place to stay.
