Stayed at Poppies so I could attend a gig at The Hafren. Choose it because it looked suggly and indeed it was. Gloria, the owner, was having lots of issues with her family who were quite ill but despite that she made sure I had everything I needed and was very apologetic about the situation. I would certainly recommend Poppies, Gloria is a lovely lady and I hope to be able to return sometime soon.
Lovely little B&B ideal for a one/two night stay, the rooms "3 of" are not big but just enough no more furniture could be added as it would be crowded.there was only one bedside cabinate which was awkward for placing cups drinks cans or jewellery phone etc, I had to negotiate my legs almost up and over the bed post to access the bed. (I'm not a small man) Also we had to try negotiate walking around our cases which had to be left on the floor. Poppys only has one bathroom and toilet for up to seven guests which if all in the b&b at once becomes a cleansing issue for me (may not bother others). Breakfast at poppys was amazing cooked by Gloria and served by her daughter both were fantastic although cereal would have been nice along with a jug of fresh orange, but I do understand that it's also a business. Overall it's a great place to stay overnight with minimal luggage. Well done Poppys .…
We stayed for 2 nights and it was wonderful. The owner was friendly, welcoming and very helpful. The breakfast freshly made at our convenience. The bed was comfy and the facilities adequate. the only thing it lacked was the lack of room for personal items and being female was very awkward when trying to get ready.
We visited the guest house for one night and was warmly welcomed by Gloria who showed us around and made sure we had everything we need. The room was lovely and comfortable and my little boy slept well in a single bed for the first time (he’s 22 months old) Breakfast was lovely and we were asked what we wanted the night before-even my little boy had a mini breakfast to his liking. Gloria made sure we had a high chair too for my little one which was kind of her. The only thing I can say on a negative is the parking outside was a bit difficult as it’s a residential street but it’s first come first served-we managed to squeeze in just outside but a car parked very close behind me so had a bit of trouble getting back out! Other than that it’s a lovely spot and handy to the town centre. …
Lovely lady running the place. But a few things lacking. Only one bathroom and loo for whole guest house. Could do with at least another loo. Cooked Breakfast was nice but on 1st day we got instant coffee both brought to us with milk in. Didn’t ask if we wanted milk. Second day got a cafetière for one between the 2 of us. No cereal. You are poured one small glass of orange and then it is taken away again. One one slice of toast given. Have to keep asking if you want anything more. On the plus side we could use the garden in the day. Clean and tidy. (Wonky mirror in my room needs re screwing straight!) it was pleasant as long as you didn’t all need a wee at the same time and only wanted a cooked breaky.
