Lovey clean hotel and restaurant Visited for Sunday lunch which was delicious and mum who doesn’t have a great appetite ordered from the children’s menu and cleaned her plate We will be back … and will choose to eat here rather than ‘ next door’ better quality if food ! I took one star off because although the staff were welcoming and polite , at no point during any of our courses , did they come to check that the food was ok . On this occasion it was and it won’t stop us coming back … but maybe a note for the future ?

Breakfast was fab, lovely room to have breakfast and the waitress was very good. Had diner in the bar and ordered the beef dish which was out of this world, one of the best meals I have ever had. Well done to the chef. If you want to go to the town centre, I would recommend a bus or taxi for those who are not super fit. It is a steep hill to walk up. It may have been one of the hottest days when we walked up the hill so that might have had something to do with it. Lovely, friendly pub in the centre, The Kings Arms, they made us feel like one of the locals.

We had dinner at the restaurant last night and both the food and service were great. Something for everyone on the menu, I loved the fish and chips and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the steak pie with mash and veg. Our son really enjoyed his chicken burger and fries too. Starters were great (even the wood pigeon) and desserts brilliant too, would recommend the warm brownie and ice cream. All in all a great family meal with fantastic service. Definitely recommend!

Unfortunately I have to totally agree with the review from 651gordonm in late May. The hotel looked promising as you enter it and climb the stairs up to the Restaurant with a great view out over the Firth of Clyde towards Arran. The starters were promising in that the Tempura Prawns were well cooked and tasty.....BUT that's where the praise stops as we also ordered pies......the menu stated a choice of Steak Pie / Pie of the day.....now this alone makes you think of a pie containg chunks of well cooked steak with gravy and covered in a nice puff pastry ................well ..there were no steak pies available and two of us went for the chicken pie, which when delivered on a plate resembled a small cold water pastry pie which is used in mutton pies in many bakers shops, so, so, disappointing as even the "chicken " in the pie had been cut or minced very finely leaving no recognisable chunks of chicken. The other two main courses were a 'two patties of beef' beefburger which I have to say were poor quality. If you are staying in the Seamill Hydro and fancy having a meal out at this local hotel ...DON'T. Either go further afield or stay put and have a lovely meal at the Hydro. Let me be clear.. .I have no personal connection to the Hydro and would have loved the meal in the Seamill House hotel to be good, but we will not be returning, its as simple as that!

Hi Jimmy, Thank you for taking the time to post a review about your experience with us. I am very disappointed that we have let you down on this occasion, and I profusely apologise for this. As a result of this feedback, we have completely changed the way we serve the pies. The feedback since this change has been a lot more positive. The beef we use is all 35 day aged, and the burgers have received great feedback so far. I do understand that all tastes vary, and appreciate your feedback. I can only hope that you give us a second chance to change your opinion. Kind regards, Dan R
