By the time of our stay at the West Loch, we had been to Paris, southern France, Isle of Wight, Glasgow, and Jura. the smoked haddock we had at West Loch was amazing. On top of that, our room was terrific and the staff was friendly and helpful. This was a terrific find. It is on the bus route and...

Lovely location with a great little walk over the road and down to the loch. Rooms are pleasant if rather old fashioned and the evening meal in the restaurant was good, as was the nice selection of whiskey to start my holiday off

Stayed here one night 4 years ago on the way to Islay - it's positioned just a short drive from the ferry terminal - and enjoyed it so much that we returned there last month when once again en route to Islay. Friendly welcome, comfortable room, decent reasonably priced food. Next morning was sunny, still and warm, and I had...

Tarbert was a half way meeting point for me(staying on Arran) and my aunt and uncle (staying in Carradale) on a seriously wet day. We just need somewhere warm and dry with a view . The West Loch was perfect. We were made to feel very welcome and given generous amounts of tea and coffee with lovely tablet on the...

On our way back from Campbeltown we were so hungry we had to stop somewhere. We were so lucky we stopped at that restaurant. We ate there on 28.05. The waitress working that evening was very friendly and polite. When she brought our food and we started eating we were pleased instantly. Everything on our plates was perfect in our...

As a motely crew of 7 arriving bedraggled and exhausted (and ravenous) from the Scottish Series Sailing Regatta - we were welcomed in and treated to a very, very good meal. Couldn't fault the hospitality or the food. This place is a must!

Living in Kintyre it's great to see the uplift in good eateries taking root, so it's with a heavy heart that the West Loch Hotel only receives a 'could do better'. I really wanted to like this hotel as we have Manx friends coming to visit in August and I thought the West Loch would fit the bill. The location...

A friend and I stopped here for the night while cycling route 78. First impressions were that the staff could not have been more helpful. They were happy to store our bikes in the garage area and were very welcoming. The room was in the attic and had a double and a single bed and was therefore very spacious. We...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A small, family-run establishment, the West Loch Hotel dates from around 1780, and is well known locally for having some of the best food in the area. We are well placed for guests passing through, and for those wishing to spend longer in the area, exploring Argyll & the Isles. Ideally located for people heading on the whisky trail to Islay (just minutes from the ferry), most guests find our large whisky selection the perfect start to their adventure! A charming, former coaching inn, the hotel has been sympathetically modernised over the years, retaining many of its original features. Our rooms are dog-friendly, with a choice of double or single rooms, and we have also got family rooms available for those travelling with children. Able to cater for small events, from birthday parties to weddings, we always go the extra mile to make sure your special occasion is extra special. ... more   less
