The Bildeston Crown is a 15th century, former coaching inn set in the Suffolk village of Bildeston, one of the historic “wool towns” and just six miles from Lavenham. Known for its stylish yet relaxed accommodation, the inn has 12 en suite doubles, a 120 seater restaurant, private meeting room, bar area with open fire and a courtyard and terrace for al fresco dining . Food is an integral part of The Bildeston Crown experience and Chef Chris Lee, who owns the business with his wife Hayley, has an excellent reputation for his signature, innovative style. Quality produce, sourced primarily locally, is used when in season and diners can choose from a range of menus: Classics which features regular favourites, Select which changes with the seasons and also perhaps the ultimate dining experience – Chris Lee’s Tasting Menu.

Beautiful setting, friendly attentive staff. Felt very covid safe one of the few places that I've been that actualy use the track and trace system. The food was disappointing, not the standard I would expect for a 3 rosette restraunt. Fruit pastels at the end of the meal where not set properly and the coffee was very very bitter, I finished neither. £19 for a sunday roast I would expect to receive sirloin not rump that was difficult to cut and rather tough. For the price I would give this a swerve, although the staff where great, the cooking was not.

Superb room, one of the best and most comfortable ever. Someone else commented that room 6 is large and comfortable. Spot on. A real taste of luxury. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were obliging and friendly. Will be looking to go again as we enjoyed it so much and a great location to explore Suffolk.

Having called in for a casual lunch - reviewed Feb 1st - we decided to make this our wedding anniversary venue this yearand were so glad we did. Covid protocols were strictly observed and we even though the restaurand looked better in its more austere shape. The young lady who waited our table was excellent as was our total experience. Starters werean ideal prelude and our mains of lamb canon and chicken respectively were perfectly portioned to leave us both replete and able to conremplate a desert, which is not always the case at other restaurants. The resulting Sicilian Lemon tart was a perfect finish. The final bill, including the bottle of very good wine was very reasonable for this quality. Memo to Chris; We apppreciate how frustrating the past five months and now the

Wow! We had the most fantastic evening at The Crown. We hired the lounge for a small gathering for my brother’s 30th birthday and we had the best time. The food was sensational, nothing was too much for the staff and we had the most perfect evening. I would recommend The Bildeston Crown to anyone! We’ll be back!

Had a smashing one night stay at The Crown to celebrate our anniversary. Room 6 was large and comfortable, and not a straight line in sight as befits a building of this age! The shower and bed were both very good. Dinner and breakfast were both superb and special mention must be made of the barista coffee. I can recommend the lemon tart, which was excellent. But the real treasure of The Crown are the staff, who are hard working, enthusiastic, cheerful and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble for them. All requests are responded to positively, promptly and with a smile. A great team. Happy to recommend.
