We have just returned from an 8 night stay at the High Beach Hotel. I always take reviews with a pinch of salt and very rarely post a review. Given the outstanding reviews previously logged, we decided to try Malia , Crete. The reviews for the High Beach stood out head and shoulders above all the other hotels we had been looking at. As this was a family holiday my only concern was Malia might be too loud and lively for what we needed, this fear was quashed on our first night out in to town. It was simply not an issue and despite pleading with my wife , she didn't fancy partying till 4am ! . From the minute we arrived until the minute we left we were treated in a way that made you feel very special and it felt like our enjoyment was paramount to every member of staff that we encountered. I could list so many names ( apologies I have forgotten a few ! ) but particularly Dido and his colleague for their non-stop enthusiasm and laughter, the guys at the Beach Bar , not only for serving us amazing drinks during our stay but also for the way we were greeted every evening. Again this was reflected in the dining room every morning and evening ( I don't normally do lunches but did break my golden rule at the pizza oven a few times ) , apologies to the staff , I did write your names down but I cannot locate the piece of paper , I hope you know who I mean! . I also want to mention the very sweet member of staff at the pool side bar , she makes the best white wine spritzers going ! . I always say a holiday can be ruined if the food is not up to standard. This was definitely not the case at the High Beach , the variety and quality of food was exceptional . I particularly liked the fact there were themed nights but still keeping more options available if the diners did not want that evenings particular theme. The Greek and Indian Nights were absolutely superb , the quality of the food was reflected in the fact we only ate out once during our entire 8 night stay. I would normally say on average we would normally eat out 4/5 times on previous vacations as I am 'food fussy' . The room we had was a double bedroom family room . It was ideal for us as we had our teenage daughter accompanying us. Again very importantly , the cleanliness was first class. The cleaners deserve so much praise for not only the rooms but how clean the entire complex is overall.
I was hugely impressed with the gym facility , the standard of the equipment in there and again how clean the room is kept given the amount of use it likely gets . This was also the case for the padel court. It was absolutely first class, having tried for the first time , I will definitely be playing again.
Overall the pools are more than enough to keep you content however you have a stunning beach literally part of the complex. I didn't quite work out the sun lounger availability/booking process but we were never asked for payment using the hotel ones right at the front. I understood the larger wooden ones were 20 euro's per day.
I always like to give honest feedback so the only slight negatives from the 8 nights were the following:
- Crete is a very big island , if you want to see an island and every attraction going in 8 days , this probably isn't the Island for you. If you are happy to have an amazing beach and a great selection of pools , keep reading :-) - If the wind is high , the sea is practically unusable for swimming but I have no doubt it would make for some excellent wind surfing / surfing.
In summary , this is a stunning hotel , amazing staff , first class food and I would even recommend to my Mother ( she is more fussy than me! ) .

This is our second stay at High Beach, 3 years ago we had a very nice experience and together with friends we decided to visit Malia once more, albeit under somewhat unusual circumstances of Covid-19 travel. The hotel management did a great job getting Corona safety precautions in place and we were very confident everything was done to minimize risk whilst still allowing for a great holiday experience. Understandably the self service buffets of the all inclusive concept were replaced with plate service for hygienic reasons. That limited choice a bit, but still we had a fine experience eating at the hotel’s main restaurant. The stay in a suite comes with reserved sunbeds at the beach and includes optional lunch and diner of the all inclusive menu at the more intimate lovely seafront Elia restaurant. Our friends had some initial issues with the room type and guest relations manager Haris went to any lenght to correct this and largely compensated for the inconvenience offering a nice complementary diner and accompanying wines. We love the service mindset of the very friendly hotel and restaurant staff, literally asking us “What can we do to make you happy today?” Recommended for the joys of a typical Greek island holiday!

The hotel is located just next to the sandy beach with the sea that is quite shallow so good for swimming. The room was cleaned every day, equipped with some useful stuff, including a decent air conditioner running quietly at night. The staff was very friendly and I could not find a thing to complain. There are 2 restaurants to choose from, one self-service (COVID, so the food was served by the staff) and the second with a different fixed menu every day with a waiter service. As I rented a car, I was offered a free parking space. There are sunbeds both on the beach and around the swimming pools, as it was May 2021, there were no crowds and no problems with finding a sunbed. The town itself offers nothing interesting so you have to either focus on a stay in a hotel or rent a car to see some of the Crete attractions.

We've just returned from a wonderful stay at the High Beach Resort.
The excellent experience started from our very first correspondence, where our questions regarding the rooms were answered quickly and elaborated in great details.
During our stay we experienced such wonderful and kind staff. Travelling with our 9-months old baby, literally everyone at the hotel were extremely sweet and helpful. We had an amazing and very relaxed stay. The food and beverage options were plenty, of high quality and with great variety. The room was big and clean and the hotel is located right by the beach. The staff took every possible measures to make us feel comfortable and safe despite the COVID.
We and our daughter miss Maria and the rest of the staff and would love to return!

Perfect hotel and stay. The location is really good. It is on a walking distance from the meeting point for excursions, around McDonald's and to the main street of Malia. The food is very good and highly varied, but I recommend them to offer more traditional Greek cuisine as well and more seafood, grilled fish, etc. The room are clear and everyday serviced, despite in the brochure was written that towels are changed per 3 days, they were changed daily. The restaurant's personal is kind, always smiled and speaking with the guests. The only minus is the food for picking up if you want to go on excursion. It should be better chosen especially if you have paid for Al inclusive or Ultra Al inclusive and you will miss part or all daily meals. So, this can be improved. Also, the sunbeds for the rooms without pre-booked ones could be changed with better ones.

Me and the wife was visiting malia for a friend's wedding, We booked high Beach resort based on its reviews and it did not disappoint.
Upon arrival we was promptly greeted then collected on a golf cart and taken the short distance to our room. We had a late flight so didn't arrive until around 11pm, we went into the room and there was a sandwich, crisps and a drink each which I thought was a nice touch.
Our room was quality and very comfortable with a sea view. We booked an all inclusive package and I would go as far as saying the food was the best I have ever had an all inclusive. Loads of food to choose from not your usually chicken nuggets and chips, I mean proper fresh traditional greek food, you really could not ask for more.
We had a massage each in the spa thought it was a little pricey at 125 euros each but it was good so I suppose you get what you pay for.
The bar tenders where nice polite guys, my wife was super impressed with the choice of cocktails and the beer was also good lads.
I would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again I think they have done a really good job, And I have literally travelled the globe so I know good accommodation when I see it.

All in all, nice rooms that are neatly cleaned every day and everything is neatly replenished (water towels).
the location is more than great on the beach and if you have booked an exclusive room you will have two chic beach beds with parasols as standard. And even if there is something wrong, people will immediately come to you to ask if they can do anything for you.
In the evening the best duo is behind the bar of very nice bartenders who know what they are doing and they do it with passion.

I recently booked a short stay at High Beach Resort through LastMinute.com. The reason for the booking was for a very special occasion which was to ask my girlfriend to marry me.
Due to the nature of the occasion I then started direct conversation with the hotel to upgrade our room and to put on a unique and private dinner setting for the big question which was delivered above and beyond my expectations.
I would like to single out Soultana Papiaoanno the guest services manager who delivered my every wish to the best service possible and made the experience one to remember for the rest of our lives. Soultana was fantastic and a real credit to the hotel, The F&B Manager and his supervisor were also fantastic and made our special meal even better than I could have planned. Every member of staff I encountered from those already mentioned to Sarka at the Pool bar were so polite and friendly and ultimately very welcoming.
The hotel blew us away with their standards of cleanliness and attention to the detail and the food both at the main restuarant and the A La Carte Elia restuarant was fantastic.
The rooms were spacious and very comfortable and the housekeeping staff did amazing job to keep it that way.
The private beach and beach bar was a wonderful escape from the busy reality of normal everyday life and had a great selection of drinks and cocktails.
Overall I would rate my experience at this hotel 10/10 and would highly recommend to anyone looking to book a stay here - I myself will certainly be returning in the near future.
My only compliant is that we were not there long enough!!

We stayed at the High Beach White, the adults-only hotel. We were there for the 4th time and were very satisfied again. The 16 rooms are spread over 2 buildings. It is only a few steps to the pool, restaurant, beach and water. The loungers on the beach are reserved for the respective rooms and you can order various food and drinks there at the touch of a button. Water is automatically served free of charge. WiFi is also available free of charge.
