A promise is a promise and we promised Katarina we would leave good feedback from our visit, I can only apologise it’s took so long but better late than never they say, from the moment we arrived from the flight and transfer and being a late arrival we were made welcome by Dora with no fuss over checking passports and any paying fees we were asked relax and shown to our room. Our room was first class although wasn’t a standard room but more than exceeded our expectations , we have stayed around this location many times before and were blown away, we stayed self catering so were open to options as we are frequent visitors we have our favourite places in Malia but did have breakfasts and evening meals which were fabulous, Katarina even shared recipes for Stifado. Throughout the day we stayed the service was brilliant, Craig really looked after us, the pool and grounds are kept very well, it was a difficult time as we managed to get over to Crete during COVID but the staff helped us feel relaxed despite the restrictions, the complex is ideally located in old town out of the hustle and bustle and giving option of other fantastic restaurants like Toto Lotto and Zorbas a couple of our favourites but among many others,, we would definitely return and recommend to anyone planning a stay in Malia.

Thank you,

John & Liz

My friend and I spent 10 days at the Sarpidon apartments in september/October2022 on a budget . We booked standard accomodation at a very good price so were not expecting luxury but we were delighted with the standard of comfort and cleanliness.
Sarpidon is located within the winding streets of the ancient Cretan village ; this in itself was amazingly beautiful ; simple things like the pots of flowers outside front doors & the ancient carved bell at the front of the tiny village church . It means you are staying in the heart of a traditional Cretan community surrounded by locals living their ordindinary lives . They are so welcoming we felt like we belonged especially on the " tourist night celebrations in the village Square, where all the local people gathered with food & drink , live Greek music & dancing to welcome and celebrate tourists to their village.
Our studio was spacious, spotlessly clean & contained everything we needed for a basic self catering holiday . The fridge was large enough, with kettle and 2 electric rings to cook on . If we' had a toaster & microwave that would have been perfect , but the poolside bar produced such fantastic food at great prices we didn't feel like doing much cooking !
The pool and gardens were idyllic, with the mountains as a backdrop; the pool was long enough to swim in properly and was spotlessly clean & well maintained .
There were plenty of sunbeds & umbrellas and lots of space to spread out ; all were maintained to a high level but the staff were so attentive , nothing was too much trouble, plus they gave us all the information we needed to tailor make our plans.
Crete, and especially Malia old Town is beautiful ; the weather , the scenery and the beaches are glorious . The icing on the cake was the welcome we received from our hosts at Sarpidon hotel & apartments Thankyou so much to Dora, Craig, Katerina & Lucy , you made our much awaited holiday so special.
We look forward to seeing you all on our return .
Maria & Angela

We stayed in the Kings Village building overlooking the garden and swimming pool which are beautifully looked after every day. We stayed here last year and came again because we were so comfortable in our lovely apartment. Very spacious, comfy bed and bedding which was changed every two days, change of towels every day. Small kitchen area and very nice bathroom and shower.
The family who run it and their staff are always on hand and are happy to oblige with anything needed. There is a bar and seating area both inside and out for drinks and to eat from their varied menu, anything from light bites to full breakfasts up to lots of other choices, all very popular and tasty!
Sarpidon is situated right in the centre of the old village and is really close to the square and lots of beautiful traditional Greek restaurants. You will be spoilt for choice. Only a short walk to the Main Street in town.
We highly recommend you try it.

Somewhat disappointed when we arrived after reading the outstanding reviews, no check in desk so a very confusing and odd check in. We were given absolutely no information about check out time, curfew, pool opening or breakfast and dinner times and after being led to our room (overall good, a few cockroaches but tidy) we were demanded to pay 90 euro for a safe fee and air con. This was the major kicker as when we booked we decided to go for a superior suite as this had included air con and safe within the description on every website we saw the apartments but were met with passive aggressive disagreement from staff/owner even when we showed them what the major websites said. Staff mumbled that if we booked package holidays this wasn’t true however this was not stated anywhere and we would’ve booked a standard room if we knew this! Not only this but when speaking to other guests we found out that the fees differed from each group we spoke to (as low as 70 euro for safe and air con in comparison). One night the air con was even switched off from the office with 24/7 bar staff saying they couldn’t help us but it would be working from 9am however at 10:30 it was still not working in 32 degree heat and we had to once again ask for them to turn back on the air con we had paid for with other rooms experiencing this issue too. On a more positive note the location is perfect for young adults who want a party location close to the strip and other restaurants with a very safe walk home. Food was average but reduced menu for half board compared to paying guests. We also found that we were met with passive aggressive comments if we didn’t drink cocktails with meals (eg; if we only had one drink) or have dessert/ starters. Some other girls who were there at the same time as us agreed there was definitely hostility from staff if u were a smaller, all female group. The guy who did breakfast was rlly nice and have no complaints about him!!! Overall, a safe good location with decent food and rooms but slightly let down by a negative attitude from certain (not all!) staff.

Arrived late at night was dropped approximately 500yds from hotel due to small access route for the bus. Wasn’t a great deal tbh but in the dark was a little daunting but in day nothing too it.

Pros of this place are :-

Spotless clean room
Food is very nice and plentiful
The pool is very clean every day
Friendly enough staff
Safety box 10 euros (non returnable)
Cleaners friendly and very hardworking
No problem or race for sun loungers
Plenty of pool ground space for sunbathing

Cons of this place are:-

The charge for air con is very high (70 euros)
Not allowed any of your own food or drink by pool (obvs want you to buy from them)
The self catering facilities are minimalistic - no toaster no microwave and we literally had 3 plates 3 cups 3 glasses a small pan and 2 saucepans
More like camping facilities tbh rather than kitchenette.
Drinks are not cheap actually cocktails and slush etc more expensive than home I’d say.

Overall a satisfactory holiday but more suited to groups of friends rather than families. However, families are using the hotel but not much here for the children or teens other than a very worn pool table costing one euro a game.

Would I return - girls trip for few nights yes maybe - family holiday - no

Katerina and her staff ensure a perfectly relaxing environment for all here in bright, pleasant surroundings.
Rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped and bedding and towels are changed every other day. Good reasonably priced food and drinks is available at the bar all day and there are plenty of sun beds available in the gardens.
This is a well situated venue for those who wish to visit the restaurants in Malia Old Town (and who wouldn’t?) but is also secluded and quiet.

it really is a great place to stay! Everything is clean and cared for. Every day or 2 days you get new towels and new sheets for the beds and new toilet paper, and they sweep and mop, they are really fast but also very careful, the cocktails are delicious and so is the food! The staff is also very sweet, especially Dora and Aron, it is a wonderful atmosphere there, we were there in the week that they had an all you can eat buffet and a live DJ that was so much fun.
Everybody is so nice to eachother.

And if you want to go to the beach it is only a 20 minute walk and I think 5 minutes by bike. Malia is beautiful so i would recommend to go and explore a little bit

or if you want to stay at the apartments and drink at the bar its Aldi possible because the bar is open all night, in our week Aron made cocktails in the night time and amazing tosti’s they were wonderfull!!!!

If you are in doubt about going there, this is your sign to book, you won't regret it!!!!

This is just the best place to stay !
On arriving we were greeted and shown to.our room.having help.with out baggage.
The room.was spotless and stayed the same throughout our stay housekeeping was spot on.and fresh bedding and towels every other day which both were crisp white , also stocked with toilet rolls .
The whole hotel was spotless clean and all staff were attentive polite and made us feel most welcome nothing was too much trouble . The pool was lovely and clean and plenty of loungers available and never had problems getting a bed.the gardens were beautiful and well maintained.
There is a charge for air-conditioning which was €120 euros for our two week stay abit pricey but needed.we were b&b and the menu choice was really good consisting of 7 choices . We also had evening meals and also lunch a couple of times and the meals were very good more of a restaurant standard not like just a snack bar. There was alot more of the younger generation who we never saw much until late In the afternoon they were going out as we were coming in for the night and sleeping most of the morning , yes sometimes they were abit rowdy but you can get that anywhere.the tavernas and bars are virtually just outside and were very pretty this is where we spent most of our time it was very peaceful and plesent
Plenty of shopping to be done with amples of shops (5 mins away) for everyone's choice. Plenty of supermarkets also .the strip is 10 -15 mins walk away and the beach which is beautiful a good 25 mins walk.we can't wait to return next year and have already booked

Arrived at 1am for a week's half board here via 'Love Holidays', post flight delay, on 31st May '24.
Hotel is in Malia Old Town accessed through narrow two way streets, parking at rear with no car access to the front. Hotel spotless and bar staff welcoming despite late hour. Paid €50 for aircon, proved essential as hot nights throughout stay.
Hotel purpose built, originally in 1985 and added to now totalling 58 Apartments on 3 or 4 floors in a 'u' shape around spotless bar, pool, lawn and eating poolside dining area.
Whole operation friendly, 'can do' efficient but laid back. Guests from England, Scotland, Holland, Finland & Germany ranging age wise from late teenage, young families, middle aged and retired. Hotel fully booked but never felt crowded.
Our apartment, 210 on first floor, a generous size with en suite, kitchenette and balcony, loved it.
Was concerned that the 24 hour bar would make our stay a tad 'lairy' but this not the case. We have poor mobility but guests popped in and out of the old town on foot very easily.
To summarise, an excellent mid range Hotel, spotless throughout with great staff & a chilled vibe with modest but good food to match.
Our thanks to all the hard working Team for a job well done. Recommended !

Our third visit to Sarpidon has been as good as the previous two, despite having some dull and wet days. Our studio is clean and perfectly adequately equipped for our comfort. The environment is delightful and peaceful considering its location so close to Malia Old Town. Katerina (who is the owner) does all she can to ensure everyone is happy - including regularly sweeping up cat muck from the grass - and is very well supported by Dora and Luci. The food on offer is well priced and tasty. We had a problem with no hot water one evening and it was sorted by a team of plumbers next morning!
Our friends came in June when we were unable to travel, and immediately decided to return this month when we could also come and we have all had a truly relaxing and restful time at Sarpidon Kings Village. We hope to return next year.

there was no parking, you would just have to leave it on the side of the road, but the road was very slim, i wouldn’t recommend
