As a family of four, we spent 3 nights at Hotel les Ecureuils for a ski trip at Grand Bornand and La Clusaz. The hotel could hardly be closer to the main Rosay telecabine and adjacent ski hire shops (literally 2 mins walk). For getting to La Clusaz it's a bit more complicated and requires 2 buses (Inter-Station from Rosay to La Clusaz bus station, then a local connector). The highlight of our stay was the food. 5 course meals on two of the nights and a traditional raclette on the third. Stylishly served with an extensive choice of wine. The rooms were a little small but as we were on an active outdoor holiday it didn't matter. The hotel directly overlooks the main road and could not be called 'green', but it was very quiet and private all the same. The pool closes for the winter. We didn't use the hot tub or sauna so can't comment. There is a games room and ski lockers in the basement, with internal access directly to the guest rooms.

We are recently home after a week staying in Les Ecureuils.
We really enjoyed our stay and were very well looked after in this friendly hotel.
The hotel is spotless with very good food and it's obvious that it's important to the staff that you enjoy your stay.
We hope to stay here again!!

Everything you could ask for for a ski chalet. Really close to the bubble, warm boot room with lockers, a sauna and outdoor jacuzzi with mountain views for end of day relaxing (bookable, free, daily for your privacy / personal use). A generous and tasty self-serve breakfast with lots of choice.

Beautifully added lounge areas and a cool bar. Sunny outdoor terrace for lunch or apres. We ate in the restaurant one evening and had the best raclette I can recall.

We had a recently renovated room which was very pleasant indeed. Modern whilst still Savoyard in style. A stylish bathroom with decent products and a great balcony. Note not all rooms are yet modernised. Check if that bothers you.

The owners look after all details personally and it shows. Many areas have artwork by Nadege which really is very good indeed and adds to a sense of care taken. Nadege also responds v quickly to email with advice and info in advance.

Very likely we will return in a future ski season.

Lovely hotel. The staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a perfect location close to the ski lift.
The food was delicious, plenty of choice for the buffet breakfast and the 5 course dinners were great. The hot tub was a welcome way to relax after a hard day’s skiing.

Only 10 days prior to our arrival -mid January- we managed to book a 7-day stay on basis of half-board. It was in one word a super experience.

We had a room, second floor on a corner at the side of the street and could enjoy beautiful morning and evening skies (no problem with the few-only cars passing by)
Start your day with a perfect French breakfast with a croissant or a chocolate croissant, accompanied by a good and fresh café-au-lait or -if you like- a tea.
Two cabin ski-lifts can be found at no more than 200 meters (walkway) from the front door; it giving access to the ski-area of Le Grand Bornand-Chinaillon.

After a day ski, returning to the hotel and take a hot wine (“vin chaud”) of superb quality, prior to returning into the room for a shower of a bath.
Rooms are sufficiently in size and are very well decorated with good quality beds and clean sanitary, all looked after by a superbly “operating” housekeeping team.

The dinner of mostly 5 courses (sometimes a bit too much for us) is prepared by a creative chef and served by an enthusiastic team. They showed to have pleasure in their job!

The Après-ski of Grand Bornand cannot keep pace with other “famous” places (we did not miss it), but the nice and cozy atmosphere in the hotel(bar) replaces it. And what else would you want: an open-air jacuzzi with drinks served from the hotelbar!

Les Ecureuils is, without any doubt, a place where we will return, for holidays in either summer or winter.

Disproportionatelly expensive hotel and very misleading web site. We stayed in a renovated savoyard room but it was totally claustrophobic. We traveled with our 4 year old child and we were given a socalled triple room with three beds. What they did not tell us that the third bed was on top of the other two beds a few cm away from the ceiling. On top there was a sign that said that it was strictly fobidden for children younger than 6 years of age to use the upper bed! The food was very simple. Eatable but nothing special. Very simple continental breakfast with very little choice. Again, nothing to do with what they show in the web site. We found the owneress very unpleasant (the owner is nicer). She could not smile once and she repeated three times with a very threatening look that this was a non smoking room -- the first time she said it, I already made the point that we do not smoke. Yes, the best of the hotel is the location. It is very close to the slopes and it is a very nice region. Not very crowded and nice slopes. Another good thing is that it is in general clean. However, next time we will chose another hotel. I prefer to walk to the ski lift than having to deal with unpleasant people during my free time!

We got held up in the traffic jams of 27/12/14 and we arrived at 22.00 hrs but we had a warm welcome and food, it had been a long day. The hotel is very clean and tidy, very close to ski lifts and buses. The room was a really nice corner room with bath(great after a hard day skiing) and fantastic views of the mountains. The food was of a high standard and the bar and seating areas are very relaxing. We will stay at Les Ecureuils again.

We stayed for a week at Les Ecureuils in Le Grand Bornand. We had a great time, enjoyed the relaxed and family atmosphere of the hotel and its great location (nearby the lifts for downhill skiing, or the tracks for cross-country, close to the day care center or main square etc.).

You can see that the hotel has been recently refurbished. Everything is modern, clean and in good working order.

We stayed in a suite with our baby (the savoyard little suite on the 1st floor). The 2 rooms (one set-up as a bedroom, one as a living room with sofa bed) were separated by a curtain. This was ideal. Despite being right next to the staircase we couldn't here any noise - so it must be well isolated.

We had breakfast and dinner there everyday.
The breakfast was nice. Yes, it is one croissant per person, a pity given how delicious they are, but there was cake or other pastries everyday to choose from at the buffet. The buffet also included cold meat, cheese, cereals, fruits...
The dinner was definitely the highlight. We had local specialties for 2 nights (fondue or tartiflette one night, raclette for the other) but outside of this there was varied and balanced food everyday with starter, main, dessert. We had beef, veal, fish... Allergies were well catered for. The food was really good, nicely prepared, well cooked and well presented. More than what you could expect at a ski resort.

We particularly appreciated all the help and patience with our little baby. Bottles were cleaned everyday by the restaurant, we got milk whenever we needed it and used a mix between hotel food and ready-made baby food for meals.
The staff was very patient with our little one, who was sometimes crying, sometimes running around the restaurant in the middle of service and they never made us feel like it was a problem.

The hotel has a room with lockers for skis, sledges etc. Beware for early start - they are locked overnight!
There is a game room as well with a table tennis table and a billiard / pool table. There is gym, sauna and hot tub but we haven't been using any of these facilities.

We will be back to this hotel next time we go to Le Grand Bornand, which is so easily accessible from Geneva airport.

We booked a five day trip at short notice, just to ski this years great Alps conditions: Le Grand Bornand was only a 90min transfer from Geneva so we opted for this hotel as it was a) available and b) convenient, located 100m from the ski lifts! Wow! How lucky we feel to have chanced upon Les Ecureuils! Nedage and her team were absolutely charming, the experience has been superb! Our rooms, whilst ‘compact’ were cosy warm and clean. With more notice we would reserve the much larger family suites next time. The half board basis was not something we would normally take up but again, what a surprise, beautiful four and five course dining of the highest standard served each evening in the charming restaurant! The proximity to the lifts, the 20% discount we were afforded on equipment hire etc all made the stay excellent value and fun! Well done Les Ecureuils!!

We spent four great days at this hotel. Wonderful atmosphere and excellent service. The rooms are cosy and very clean. It is so silent in the night. The view from the hotel is great. You have the mountains everywhere. The owners are extremely serviceminded and attentive. Nicely presented, good food, both for breakfast and dinner. There were a lot of different activities for the kids too. They enjoyed it as much as we did. A wonderful place you return to. Thank you!
