This was our 2nd stay, but won't be the last. It is ideal for two couples, with plenty of space and two big bedrooms with their own bathrooms. The convent is a lovely old building that has been converted into four tall gites by adding quirky spiral staircases and a mezzanine floor. The buildings are shaded by a row of mature trees and each have their own outside space, but the entire garden is enclosed by a wall, so it feels private and peaceful. But step out of the door and you are a few yards from the bustling streets of Pezenas with its fabulous market, amazing choice of cafés bars and architecture and a whole street of antique dealers. The whole experience is made even better by the welcome from Sophie and Firas who are perfect hosts. I'm already planning the next trip.

Four of us stayed here for two weeks and our whole experience of being here was one we shall treasure always. Sophie and Firas truly enhanced our stay by their caring for our wellbeing in all ways. I even joined a French walking group for an afternoon -walked 8 ks!!! thanks to them putting me in touch with them. It was peaceful even with young ones running around! Our apartment was spacious and comfortable. We shall return!

An absolute haven within a breath of the old town. We have visited Pézenas every year for the past 8 years and always return to the same hotel. This year we choose the Couvent, and I’m so glad. What a difference it makes having the lovely grounds to sit outside and enjoy your glass of wine. It’s perfect for families with children. Whilst we were there, there were several French families whose children were so polite and relaxed. We live in Spain and the children here are loud and shouty. The children can play in the enclosed garden which is full of things for them to do. The swimming pool was great and faces the sun, perfect. Beautiful trees give lots of shade. The accommodation was superb, two lovely ensuite rooms a sweet landing with a double bed and a sofa bed and there’s a sofa bed on the ground floor. It’s very well set out for disabled. Lovely comfortable beds, slept like a dream. Showers and baths to die for!!! The managers where fantastic couldn’t have helped us more. Loved it, I want to come once a month every month. Don’t underestimate how useful it is to be within strolling distance of bars, a big supermarket, great shops and restaurants yet you feel in the middle of the countryside. The Saturday market is exceptional.

The property is typically french we loved it. Facilities are very good and the place was clean. The setting is tranquil and away from the noise of the town and streets so very peaceful. The outdoor fresh water pool is fantastic and made the stay even better. There's a Lidl about 500m up the road and loads of Patisseries within walking distance. The apartment itself is 2 story with a mezzanine half way up, a spiral staircase allowing access, both upstairs bedrooms are spacious and en suite. All in all a lovely place, would recommend and definitely use again.

We had a two/three bedroom and 2 bathroom self-contained appartment. There were two of us travalling on business. We had our own open area to work together, plus our own private facilities. The building is fantastic and located a few minutes walk from the centre of the historical town of Pezenas. The hosts were completely charming, we will be using the Couvent again. .

This historic convent was built in 1833, and once the resident order of nuns moved to Spain, it became a military headquarters (or sorts) during WWI. If the walls could only talk. This large building has been converted into several 3 story apartments with 3 bedrooms and, I believe, 2 1/2 baths. The bedrooms were decent in size, with a very comfortable bed, and quality linens. The owner has spent much time and effort into restoring each apartment with eclectic style. 1st level houses a Modern Kitchen that opens to large dining room with a large dining table. Next to that is a comfortable living room with a flat screened TV. WiFi was also a joy to have. The second floor has a bedroom and lounge area, and the third floor has two bedrooms each with an ensuite bathroom. The hot water was almost instant, even on the third floor, and the shower itself was outstanding! Each apartment (almost like several townhouses attached to each other) has an enclosed designated outside area with at table and chairs which was such a delightful spot to have our breakfast and an afternoon tea. The walled in private property is spacious, and quite. They even have a walled in swimming pool with lounge chairs. As an owner of an Inn in Costa Rica, I can see the incredible potential the "Couvent" has going forward. My wife and I found it to be perfect just for the two of us. Yet, I can easily see this a a great place for family reunions, small business weekend conferences, and surely a great place for a wedding party to enjoy...etc. etc. etc. The location is right in the charming town of Pezenas, and walking to the museum, shops and restaurants was not just easy, but rather delightful. There is free parking within a block away. Once we parked our car, we never needed it again. Now, the icing on this lovely cake is the management team of Sophie and Firas. This lovely couple were very friendly and personable. They shared some background of history of the convent and gave us a building tour. They gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations, and even suggested other interesting sites to visit when we left and headed towards Santander, Spain. Oh! Firas speaks English and French, while Sophie speaks, English, French and German. That made us feel very comfortable, to say the least. Although Sophie and Feris have only been managing the place for a few months, it doesn't take a wizard to see the love and passion they have for Couvent des Ursuline. During the day, you could see them working in the garden, and refreshing some lawn furniture, but always had time for any questions we might have. Again, as an owner of a successful Inn in Costa Rica, I know how hard it is to find good and capable help. Making guests feel at home, and assist them in making their vacation a memorable one is so important. Sophie and Firas have those qualities and they did exactly that. We will never forget our stay at Couvent des Ursulines, and we highly recommend that visiting the South of France should be on everyone's bucket list. A stay with Sophie and Firas will make you feel right at home.

My husband and I stayed in one of these apartments at the end of September and we were very disappointed in the cleanliness and presentation of the property. We found animal hairs on the sofa; faded cheap bed linen ( duvet cover doubling as a sheet), bathrooms that wouldn't be out of place in a student hostel; kitchen without basic utensils; dirty tables, chairs and armchairs and filthy windows; an interesting choice of pebbles set in concrete as a shower tray; badly lit kitchen, and weed covered garden. I don't expect to have to purchase cleaning materials, or a spatula for that matter when I pay €120 per night for a holiday rental, but that's what we had to do. Whoever is supposed to clean this place seems to be giving it a prefunctory clean at best. i.e. put dishes in dishwasher and towels in the washing machine, job done! I will be much more careful the next time we book anywhere again, very disappointing. Avoid if you like a clean, comfortable, bright space for your holiday.

We stayed here for two weeks. The building is split into 4 houses, each with its own design. The two upper floor bedrooms are spacious and in the shabby chic style. Bathrooms are fins with plenty of hot running water and good showers. The metal spiral staircase would not suit the very young, or people with any sort of walking difficulty. The mezzanine floor had twin beds and was quite dark. Not a lot of privacy on this floor. The ground floor is open plan with small but well stocked kitchen, a large dining table, a small sofa and two chairs. There is also a downstairs toilet, saving you trudging up the spiral staircase!! The property is not a five star experience. If you are happy with shabby chic and very relaxed surroundings then it is fine. The property was clean but not immaculate. Bath and pool towels are provided. Overall the property if great, as long as you're not expecting hotel luxury. It is an ideal base for exploring the region. A very short walk into town makes the location ideal. The garden is very large with the potential to be a beautiful space. Ideal for children to run around freely and in a safe environment. Every property has a BBQ and it's own outside space. The owners were always on hand if you needed them, very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our 2 weeks here, as stated this is not a 5 star luxury experience, but if you are happy with comfortable surroundings rather than wall to wall marble, and are looking for a property in an excellent location in town it is more than fine.

The Couvent des Ursulines is great -- IF you have the right expectations. Just go in with your eyes open. These are VERY large units, 2 full baths, 1 half bath. The two main bedrooms on the second floor are LOVELY, with a great shabby-chic sensibility. Comfortable beds, LOTS of HUGE windows, even a large storage closet on the same floor. The mezzanine (open to the main floor) has a double bed that offers some privacy when the enclosing curtains are pulled, and a day bed (comfortable for one) in an open area -- the mezzanine in general would be great for those who can sleep through anything (since it is open to the main floor) and are not worried about privacy. This area is darker, and tends to be hotter, though even here there is a good cross breeze due to a rear window that can be opened. The main floor is open-concept, with a small (dark) kitchen in the back corner, and a large living/dining area... two HUGE patio windows that open to the 'garden' (more on that later). Again, very bright, great windows. Here, however, the 'shabby chic' sensibility decays to something more like 'shabby IKEA.' Not terrible, but certainly nothing special. The 'secret garden' -- is more of a 'secret pebbled courtyard'. Shaded by several LARGE and beautiful trees, it could be a lovely spot. However.... when you open the gate to enter from the street, you encounter (to your left) the garbage... then a large raised bed with nothing but weeds in it. To your right is a pathway (to an apartment also on the property?) and then a hedge surrounding the pool -- which is fine, if nothing special. The rest of the 'garden' consists of scattered and sporadic vegetation, raised beds in front of some but not all of the units, and pebbles. There is a hammock, and hanging laundry, and the unfinished remains of craft projects. Each unit has a small patio out front surrounded by a hedge. Some have barbecues, some do not -- but all have access to barbecues. There is a 'bar' by the pool area, which looks disused and full of bits of stuff -- old dishes, plant pots, etc. The majority of the 'garden' is covered in pebbles -- nothing wrong with that, just not what we expected. The bottom line is that the space seemed unkempt, and potentially really beautiful. The unit is clean enough, but certainly not spotless, with lots of dusty corners and grime. The appliances include a dishwasher, washer, and dryer -- terrific, especially for long stays. All in all, your experience here will depend entirely on what you expect. The Couvent would be absolutely perfect for families looking for a comfortable long stay in the Pezenas area. NOT for families with small children, or for anyone with mobility restrictions -- the metal winding staircase would be unsafe for either. Don't expect luxury, don't go looking for a true 'garden' experience, and don't expect the highest-quality fittings -- but instead expect lots of space, friendly owners, and shabby comfort -- and you'll be really happy.

We have just returned from a week at the Couvent. The accommodation was perfect for us, comfortable beds, good indoor space, great showers, good wifi, quiet location but only 3 minutes walk to the medieval centre of this beautiful town. We really lovely the outside space - you have your own private patio but the whole garden is really big with lots of areas inc pool,, kids area, hammocks etc. It isn't an immaculate 5 star experience as the whole feeling of the place is very relaxed - it was difficult to leave and come home. Would happily recommend and stay again.
