I stayed at this beautiful property with glorious views a few weeks ago. I couldn't be more happy with my decision to make the trip to Elba...gloriously free of boatloads/busloads of tourists but with a beauty, grace and quiet of days gone by. The family run hotel with their warmth and smiles surely add to the welcoming nature of this unpretentious place and yet I felt like Jackie O! The beach is a 5 minute walk from the very special terrace which overlooks the Mediterranean down below. The rooms are well appointed with very clean bathrooms and some facing the sea with a view. There are many guests who are repeat customers with one couple coming for 43 years since "il nonno" began the lodging/hotel. The food was yummy and abundant after long afternoons at the beach and I couldn't have enjoyed my own happy hour more with my Aperol spritzer sitting on the terrazza made by the fun loving Massimo...Marinella and Franco will make you want to become part of their family!!

Really enjoyed our stay at Hotel da Giacomino in early June. Owner (onsite) is very friendly. Try to book a room directly facing the sea; Rooms in the annex on the north side are OK but don't directly face the sea. Hotel also does a very nice local fish dinner. Only complaint about breakfast was the espresso machine that produced rather tasteless cappuccino. Good base for exploring the coast and diving. It is a good drive from the Port , but it was worth it.

What a hidden gem. I hesitate to provide such a review because I want it to stay that way. This is the type of place my husband and I try to escape to - off the beaten path, not over developed, immersed in a foreign country, and breathtaking. Hotel giacomino is around an hour from the port on some adventurous roads not for the faint of heart, once here you don't need to leave which explains the half board that we are not use to. This is a 3 star hotel and a very nice one, I worry other reviewers are looking for 4 stars where they should stay if that is what they need. The rooms are basic and clean with a private terrace overlooking the Mediterranean, which we referred to as the million dollar view. The location was perfect being perched up off the sea slightly, large and quiet grounds, yet a cute walk on a path to the town and beach. The salt water pool was nice for an afternoon swim, the terrace was spectacular to watch the sunset after dinner with cocktails, and the garden was peaceful for a nap or to read a book. The food is decent, always too much, 4 courses with a salad bar, choice from 2 options for pasta dish and entree typically including seafood, and choice of 5-6 desserts. We accessed hiking trails nearby, and paths along rocks where we could jump into the water. We rented lounge chairs with umbrellas at the beach for the day, rented kayaks, ate lunch at the different restaurants on the beach, and had an early evening drink at the bar in town. The hotel giacomino staff were very kind and helpful. I would recommend this place to others and would return if we ever come back to Elba.

The hotel is beautifully located in a big garden where you can sit together or find a little place for yourself. The room and large terrace was ok but about 30 years old, the bathroom was fully modern. Service from all personnel was very good. Breakfast was very good but the dinner was more mass-produced with lots of pasta. However most people seemed to like it and that is what counts. There was free WiFi but it worked only on the terrace, not in our room.

This small hotel is superbly located with peace and quiet guaranteed and fabulous sea views (from certain rooms). Nice large pool, with lots of sun beds with mattresses sometimes spoiled by bird droppings from the house swallows. The Costa family does its best to please all the guests, and we enjoyed out stay very much, in spite of the sometimes quirky weather. The half board is value for money but we found it a little too simple, it could be upgraded easily with little or no cost; I would be willing pay a bit more for a better cuisine. We are used to have the waiter come to our table when we sit down and ask if we need to order wine or other drinks. Here the food arrived first, and we had to act quickly to have our wine before the starters where cold… I think there is much room for improvement in the service, and for selling more drinks, coffee and wine before, during and after the meals. Breakfast is OK but simple and not much fresh fruit which I find odd. The water for tea from the automatic machine is not hot enough to make proper tea. You have to ask for boiling water from the kitchen or the bar. Our room (34) at the far end of the side building had the best sea view one can wish, with a terrace opening to the south and west to take in the full afternoon and evening sun. Definitely worth paying extra for! Wi Fi works well in the main building or nearby, but not in our room. Further more it is very annoying having to type in the login and password every time you want to log in after having lost the connection. Definitely needs to be improved! Elba is not easy to drive around; the roads are often narrow and curvy. But this hotel is the best located between Marciana and Patresi, a little high up the cliff but you can take the stairs from the hotel garden to the waterfront rocks and use a well-build but narrow path to the public beach 5 minutes away. If you walk the other path through the gardens it takes you 10 minutes to reach the public beach and bistro’s there. I recommend this hotel when you want to enjoy the great view of the sea, the pool and the pineta around the hotel.
