We booked two rooms for our 4-day/3-night stay at Dumaguete. I'd say the entire experience has been a mix of good and some room for improvement in the hotel's end.

So, let's start with the good ones first:

First off, the location of the hotel is great. It's very convenient and it's only within walking distance to a lot of shops, stores and restaurants. There's also easy access to transportation because you can hail a tricycle anytime in front of the hotel. Also, the service is great. The staff was attentive, polite and friendly. If ever we have any questions or needs, they are able to respond to it quickly. They also speak English, Tagalog and the local dialect so communicating wasn't a problem. The room was also okay. It was clean, the Wi-Fi was okay, the shower had hot and cold, and they also provided some dental kits and towels in the room.

And now for the ones that need some improvement:

First, the bathroom was quite dated. There were spots in the bathroom that is not entirely clean. Second, the bed sheet used on my bed had some "black spots" on our first day (they changed it quickly when I informed the staff) although you can still tell that the sheets are kind of worn too. Third, the water and the hair dryer in the room is not free (they'll charge a small fee upon checkout).

Overall, it was a decent stay, but I think there are still other places we can "check out" the next time we decide to go back to Dumaguete.

Our stay was nice. Prior to our trip in Siquijor we had to reserve hotel so we wont have any issues in our early flight on May20. SO we did booked three rooms here a couple of Business suite and deluxe suite. It was a nice stay since everything is near it. It was a couple of streets from Sans RIval Bistro where we ordered dinner and got some Pasalubong.

Great location since it is at the center of the city. Walking distance to all major interest points especially a mall and McDonald’s. Easy access to public transportation. Staff are accommodating. The only downside I can say based on my experience is the Wi-Fi connection is not good

Really bad service and value for money is far from reasonable. They don't care about there business they just collect money. Rooms are old and lacking facilities. I know it only 1000 peso but I have been in way beter places for that money. There is 1 around the corner from here for 950. I just wanted to check this place out. Luckily one 1 night
I do not recommend this place to anyone.

My wife and I frequently visit hotels in Dumaguete during 'planned power outages'. We spent a weekend at the Check Inn on that basis recently.

I was prepared to write a favourable review of this property until . . .

Please read and accept the views of others here.

The ownership/management of Check Inn tolerates an unacceptable condition, which endangers the safety of its guests - the fire escapes. Fortunately, it has competitors nearby which have a more enlightened attitude.

Be assurred, a blocked fire escape is not to be taken lightly. You are lightlyto only need it in the middle of the night being roused from sleep and likely a bit panicked for your self and those you love. Undoubtedly, the power will hav also failed - as you stumble in the dark, seeking an exit.

You will want the fire escape to be accessible and not filled with clutter.

What do YOU think of the scene in these photos?

We had a 1 day & 1 night stay at Check Inn Pension in Dumaguete City during our regular monthly business visit.

We ordered food for lunch by 12pm and informed the waiter to serve it to us by 2:00pm since we are still to finish our business call to one of our client in a near by establishment.

Upon returning to the hotel and expecting to have our lunch by 2:00pm, the waiters are still having a huddle meeting with their manager. We thought that our lunch is ready to be serve but the manager did not even verify the kitchen to finish first all dine-in customer orders before having the huddle meeting. The waiter just only informed the kitchen staff to prepare the lunch serving it extremely late than we expected.

Having this concern we inform the manager our dismay of bad and disorganize dine-in system serving too late for the orders from their customers.

The waiter who took our order is too rude and not properly trained in handling customers urgent concern and temper. He even argue with us ending to even threatened us that we will even experience bad dealings with other hotels if we have too much complain in our future trips. Such an arrogant word coming from a waiter towards a customer!!!

Such hotels like this deserve to be banned for their bad customer service.

Stayed here one night , as my favourite Hotel Palwa was fully booked. Pleasantly surprised at this good hotel, double including breakfast was only 850php, and as an added bonus, my favourite money changer has a small office in the lobby. Great stay

What's good with this accommodation is that it's in the heart of downtown Dumaguete. Just a couple of blocks from the boulevard and shopping areas, walking distance to various fastfood chains.
But the downside was that the linens were not very clean. Though there was no extreme unpleasant smell, you can tell that the bed sheets were not newly washed. It had a dusty feel to it.
There was no wifi signal inside the room. You had to go to the lobby if you wanted to connect to their free internet. Or maybe it was just our room. Better ask the front desk for a room with wifi signal if you really need one.
When we got to the room, there were no towels so we had to call housekeeping. No toothpaste/toothbrush, shampoo or soap provided, you have to bring your own toiletries.

They told us to come back by 2pm as the room will be ready but we waited until 4pm to finally have our room and rest and by the time you check out they would want you to leave the room as soon as possible.

Well, we stayed for more than 4 nights there with my friends. The room was okay. It smelled good. Also, the housekeeping was very attentive too. What I don't like was, I'm disabled. I presented my PWD ID and it took them to process the payment. One of their front desk staffs was too rude too. I just don't like how they handle customers. Bad. Bad. Bad.
