I freaking LOVED this place. The only reason I went to Kiwengwa was because it seemed like the lodging in Stone Town was so expensive, and Baby Bush Lodge had dorms. It turned out to be a marvelous decision! The six-bed dorm room was clean and cozy, and as it's low season, I had it all to myself... but I...

Very basic rooms with mold on the walls and stained beding. The rooms need heavy attention. Overpriced beer and food. It was very noisy at the time I stayed there, workers started hammering the floor above my room at 7am. I have seen much better places for that money.

We stayed in private double room which was spacious and clean. Booked for 2 nights, then extended our stay for another 4. Staff was amazing and kind. The man running the place, Patrick, seemed like a good honest man who is trying to create a laid back atmosphere for everyone and will help you with anything. Food was good, and...

Really nice hostel, helpful staff, great lounging areas looking out over the beach, very close to the beach, salt water showers (some heated), good food if service is a little laid back, decent menu (delicious fish stew & coconut curry), nice juices & cocktails, lovely breakfast of fruit and then fresh cooked eggs/omelette. Difficult to find at 11pm at night...

The staff were welcoming from the start, no complaints at all on service. Kiwengwa itself, we found to be surprisingly quiet - we were confined to the lodge for our full two day stay because of this. The communal space is quirky and meets all needs, so this wasn't too much of an issue - at least for a short...

We stayed in Baby Bush for 7 nights. It's a great place to stay. When we were totallly out of money (take enough cash with you, there is only an ATM at Stone Town) they helped us out! You have a great view when you are sitting in the cosy restaurant. At the same time this is an area with...

The lodge entrance is past an unkept dirty area. The lodge itself when reached up many many rickety stairs is clean with a Jacuzzi and good lounging areas. The pre booked evening meal was good. Staff are pleasant and attentive. How ever the village is more scruffy than the other places we have stayed and apart from private resorts there...

Kwingwe is suppose to be the inverse of Paje. A quiet tranquil beach with resorts and a lone budget lodge tucked amongst resorts and local homes with views of the Indian ocean. Indeed, it was a budget lodge with great views of the Indian Ocean and white powdery beaches a minutes walk from the lodge. The rooms were basic, with...

Baby Bush lodge is a beautiful little place to stay on the Island of Zanzibar. Surrounded by resorts, it's in a prime location within a little village. And for dorm rooms in the $20 range, it's not the cheapest hostel in the world, but the cheapest in the are and well worth the location. It's located within a village where...
