Our experience was very mixed. The views were stunning, the staff friendly and helpful and the meals were delicious. But the Villa and the location were a challenge. Just getting to the Villa was difficult. Calling the last 4km of road "rough" was is understatement. It is a bone-jarring goat path that adds 25-30 mins to the journey. If you...

I have been travelling to East Africa for nearly 30 years, and have visited Zanzibar on 8 occasions, staying in all types of accommodation, but this time thought we'd try something a little more exclusive and private. Kandili Villa felt like our home within minutes of walking through the Zanzibari door. The staff are friendly, kind and non-intrusive and the...

I am pleased to read your reply to "Incredible behavior after a ARMED ROBBERY" I am also pleased to read that, and I quote your words: "The security generally in Zanzibar has deteriorated these past two years with common spates of armed robberies plaguing several resorts and villas." this will make happy those who try to rent out their property...

As a frequent traveller to Zanzibar, one of my favourite areas of all times is the north-east tip of the island. Having spent many weeks in Stone Town (which I love) this place offers the peace and quite one sometimes need. The villa itself it spatious with all the facilities needed (ac, internet, pool, large rooms, terrace etc.), and located...

Kandili villa is a spacious villa with all the creature comforts you can think off. Satellite TV, Wifi, Aircon in the rooms, Gourmet kitchen, lounges everywhere! Huge bedrooms and bathrooms. Kandili is a standalone villa. There is a lovely neighbouring lodge within walking distance, but other than that it's private (which is what we wanted). Whilst we were in residence...

Together with my 11 year old son, his mother and a couple of friends, after paying $ 15,000 x two weeks in this house, totally inadequate and poorly maintained, the last night we were robbed inside home by 5 armed men with machetes and gun. The house which was supposed to have security that meets the needs of the location,...

As the new manager of this villa, it is my duty to respond to this review. The villa was unfortunately under a different management at the time, however it is important to acknowledge that this incident was indeed very unfortunate. The security generally in Zanzibar has deteriorated these past two years with common spates of armed robberies plaguing several resorts...

We stayed for 5 nights on our honeymoon after having spent 2 days at Stone Town. After the very busy and noisy Stone Town (but of course worth the visit as that is one of the rare city with History in Africa) we were glad to spend those days at Kandili to rest. A great place to just lie by...

We came at Kandili last July with our 2 children and 3 couples of friends, therefore between us we occupied the whole villa (8) and the annex (2) (separate building a few meters from the villa with one double bedroom and en suite bathroom). We were occupying the whole first floor of the villa where the family room is. We...

As a songwriter, one dreams of a place to write where it would be quiet, peaceful & tranquil, inspiring & to really top off the whole desire & dream, there would also be a beautiful ocean to look at. Yes, it's been a dream for me and for most creative artists who would do anything for such a place. When...
