Arrived at Flame Tree after 6 day safari in northern Tanzania. Very nice rooms and excellent location on the north shore of Zanzibar. We ate dinner in the restaurant each night and the food was quite good with many excellent specials each day. Breakfast on our veranda each morning was heavenly. We booked two snorkeling trips with the hotel -...

There are a number of good things about Flame Tree Cottages, including the nice owners and staff, the beach, the very good restaurant, and the setting of the cottages. Unfortunately, when we were there the generators kept breaking down, and there was essentially no air conditioning at night when it is needed most. It's also too bad they don't take...

Came to Flame Tree after 3 days on safari in Masai Mara. Room "Desert rose" was perfect for a family, clean and spacious. We did not find the staff very helpful, and everything took looooong time. Their English was not very impressive, and smiles were rare. We had prepaid dinner everything night, but ended up eating one of four another...

I was looking for a relaxing chilled out and quiet place to stay en-route to family Xmas in South Africa and chose Zanzibar/Flame Tree Cottages. It was exactly what I wanted and exactly how it looks in the photo's on their website and Trip Advisor site. Saif the owner is very helpful and Louise the yoga teacher was also very...

The restaurant is good with good variaty, great portions, and fantastic prawns!! The breakfast was super( fruit platter), and served on your verandah somehow enhances the whole feel of things. a great way to start the day. The...

Beautiful little hotel in beautiful surroundings. We found our stay relaxing and comfortable and would recommend this place to any one. The staff were friendly and attentive and always polite. The rooms were clean and Spacious. Situated close to restaurants and bars with stunning views out to sea. Would definitely come back for another visit.

As I don't like to stay in big resorts I found Flametree Cottages, a smaller private hotel with stone bungalows and a very nice owner. This hotel can't be booked via any booking sites but directly with the owners, which worked well for us. It's on the beach but the cottages aren't, the restaurant is and also some sun lounges....

We stayed at the Flame Tree in May of this year, for 5 nights after our safari's in Kenya and Tanzania. It was a great way to unwind and relax after being on the go so much. We found the hotel to be very relaxed, but we did receive great service. Our room was a basic room, named Langi Langi,...

We stayed here for about a week in Sept 2012 for business, though Flame Tree really made every single minute of spare time we had (not a lot) feel like a holiday! We were shooting yoga videos on their property, with the lovely teachers that actually teach at Flame Tree on the beautiful roof-terrace overlooking the beach and sea. This...
