The WORST hostel / guesthouse I have been in my whole life. And I may say that I've been to a lot of them. First: they didn't know that we we have booked. People looked at us as if we came from another world. The lady didn't even bothered to get up from her comfortable sofa to talk to us,...

If you´re looking for a budget accommodation in Nungwi, James Guesthouse is a good option. It´s located about 2-3 minutes walk to the beach, close to good restaurants and diving schools. The guesthouse has private rooms (ensuite) and also dorms, and all of them have fans and mosquito nets. The staff was always very friendly. The place itself is simple,...

Clean basic cheap place to stay in tourist hub where everything else is over priced. Good breakfast, extremely helpful staff who personally walked us to Turtle natural reservation and dhow building. Fire was lit in the evening, nothing was too much trouble. Snoring trip arranged easily by staff, who were more than helpful. One of the better budget places we...

We booked the room 3 weeks in advance, sent the payment, passport scan and even credit card details. When we arrived "receptionist" said they are fully booked! He didn't even apologise, didn't help us and just left with backpacks day before NY Eve without any help! We tried to contact the guesthouse owner but he switched of the phone. We...

I stayed at jame's in December last yr during a 4 days trip to Zanzibar. Hardly 5 mins walk from the beach, it is a reasonable place to stay if you are on tight budget. Jame's is a good fellow who used to make breakfast for the guests by himself each morning. Breakfast is also ok, given the price he...

James guesthouse Pros: Lovely big beds with mosquito nets, under 10 minute's walk from the beach, wifi (only by the bar). Cons: James made single females in our group very uncomfortable. He orders VERY expensive taxis as a "favour" and does not care for broken/absent toilet seats, makes you pay upfront for rooms. We got shouted at by him over...

We rented an apartment of James and got to know the owner quite well during four months. The places are cool, the guesthouse is little bit distant from the beach but perfect for backpackers. You maybe can even use the kitchen. As girl, just take care - the owner can be quite disrespectful especially when he drinks. And also although...

I d like first to agree with a recent comment from a lady mentionning that James seems to be a charming and a predator, when I arrived at the guesthouse he started straight away to flirt with me, wanted absolutely to see me swimming or at least in my swimming suit and offered me the bla bla to make me...

James' Guest House seems to isn't recommended by the locals. We were trying to get directions to the place (even if it's signs that points out the direction), but everyone told us that it's not a good place to stay. My guess is that they doesn't get anything from the hostel by bringing us there. This place is cheap, clean,...
