We had a good holiday despite some issues. The place needs and is getting later this year a make over. Rooms are dated and basic with maintenance required, it wasn't a big deal. Though getting locked out on the balcony could have been, no handle on the outside with Mrs S managing to open it after 10 minutes fighting a dodgy lock. The biggest problem with this lovely resort is the staff. I'm going against reviews I've seen I know, but I've never seen such a bunch of miserable poorly led lot. They liked their phones though. The cheerful ones stood out as there were so few. There's no organization with pointless queues every breakfast, unset tables and waits for popular things like eggs and omelettes. We were lucky if we got coffee before we'd finished eating, it didn't happen often. All for the want of organization...but they seem not to care. The restaurants open on the evening were better, but not much, but the food was good. The bars are pretty good and the drinks even without Diamond Club Premium, great. There seems to be a competition between the pool bars to see who can play the loudest music..all day, so don't expect the sound of waves crashing on the shore sending you to sleep. We played room bingo, if we got fresh towels, the bed made and the fridge filled every day, we shouted bingo ! We only did around 3 days in 14. We had a good time but won't be going back,we'll be going anywhere where the staff at least pretend to like you or have time for you and where 5 star really is 5 star.…

We booked this trip in early 2021 and as it got closer, we were nervous about the increase in COVID cases and some of the reviews made me second guess our decision. Just a couple of days before we were scheduled to leave, I almost canceled, but I am so glad we did not! I think this property has a lot of bad reviews but I think it is all about what you expect. If you are looking for a 5 star property, this is not it. If you are looking for a quiet family getaway then this is where you want to go! After about 14 hours of travel we arrived at the White Sands report. We were exhausted. I did not know until we arrived that we had DIamond CLub service. We were quickly brought to the lounge and checked into our room. Our butler, Nicola, brought us to our room and gave us an overview on the resort and pointed out some of the the things we needed to know. She also helped me get all set up on the Whatsapp so we could communicate. She had already made us dinner reservations for that night which we were thankful for. Our first day we realized the phone did not work and our tub did not have a stopper in it. We went down to spend the morning at the beach and when we came back up to our room both of those items were taken care of. There was only one time we had to ask twice for the mini bar to be refilled. One time a man came up to bring us soda for the mini bar and then saw we had kids to ran to get them some juice to have in the room. Our other butler's name was Romaine and he was always great to make sure we were taken care of as well. We arrived on a Saturday evening and the resort was slightly busy on Sunday which caused be some concern but after that day it was so nice and quiet. There were times we were the only 4 people at the pool. Each day, Vinessa, helped us out at the pool and learned out names and my girls' favorite drink (make sure your kids try the fuzzy squirrels)! It took us a couple of days to discover the Sands Grill as we had just been going to the buffet for lunch but it was so nice over there to eat on the beach. Melrose and Ronaldo were so great over there and the buffalo chicken strips had a really good sauce. Our favorite restaurants were Zen and Grazie, we ate at both of these twice during our one week stay, All of the staff at Zen was amazing, they made it so fun to eat there. We had the same waitress both times at Grazie, her name was Deandrah (I might have that spelling wrong), We liked her so much! She even made sure to get our girls' their fuzzy squirrels with dinner. We ate at the buffet for breakfast and a few times for lunch. It was fine, it was your typically buffet. The staff was great. There was an older man who worked the kids section of the buffet ( I think his name was maybe Dezroy), our girls just thought that section was the best and he was so kind and helpful. Once day my daughter was in line with me to get something and he came up to ask if she needed help getting her food. It was hard not being able to help yourself at a buffet but I understand the restrictions. The only night we participated in the night entertainment was the beach party night (Friday) because our girls were just so tired after dinner it was usually an early bedtime. We were able to watch most of the show from our balcony which was very nice. We were the 2nd building in from the beach on a corner so we had a great view. We did order room service once (the continental for 4 people plus a pastry basket) and after waiting over an hour we only got 1 bowl of cereal, 1 piece of bread, and a couple pastries This was really the only disappointing thing during our trip. Room service can be nice for breakfast so I was bummed this didn't work out. One the day of our departure, our shuttle was late but our butler stayed with us to make sure we got on and had a way to the airport. Overall, we had a really nice stay at this resort. The meals at the restaurants were usually good. We liked being able to stop for ice cream whenever we wanted. We never made it to the Sports Bar. Our room wasn’t huge but it was fine for us for the week. With having kids (ages 4 and 7) that went to bed early, it would’ve been nice to have a 2 bedroom suite so I would suggest that to other families. Our room was always very clean, the housekeeping was top notch! It was always nice to come back from dinner to see our bed turned down and our girls enjoyed the chocolate they left. Had a wonderful time at this resort and zani and vinessa were amazing and took care of all our needs.......if you visit this resort definitely look for them...food was great at the jerk hut ,breakfast was lovely also and the staff at the jerk hut is super fantastic.

Drinks were great, with lots of options. Bar tenders had a new drink every drink for days before we came close to having the same one twice.
