This place is excellent. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, staff is friendly and efficient, restaurant is amazing and gym-spa facilities are first-rate. The entire experience can be summarized in two word: healthy and peaceful
Stayed here for one night and enjoyed it. The hotel is in the centre of Banska Stiavnica and is located on the hill that leads up to the square and the old castle. Due to the age of the hotel the rooms are old as you would expect but they are very spacious clean and well kept. The bathroom is similar and far larger than you would get in a newer hotel. There is free parking in the hotel yard but it is limited due to the size of the area. If you are in this area and you have time to visit Banska Stiavnica it is worth taking time out and visiting the town.
Very nice and comfortable hotel in the centre of Banská Štiavnica. The room was spacious, clean and with wonderfull city view. We had small fridge on the room, that is very handy. They have own parking in the hotel patio.
It is small 3 star hotel in the city center of historical town BS. Its clean, with big rooms. I don't like the of mix of modern and historical style but it depends. As highlight of this hotel are really comfortable beds, which I assume is one of the most important and wanted feature of most tourists. The personal is very friendly and always helpful. The breakfast was OK. Also they have a inside parking for 4 cars.

Suite on the 3rd floor without lift is better for younger people. Room furniture is nice but nothing special. There is everything you need, also TV, phone and small fridge. I slept very well thanks to very comfortable mattress. Breakfast is very tasty, staff is really friendly and helpful. And it´s a dog-friendly hotel!
Salamander Hotel, Banska Stiavnica Nice place to stay in an absolutely enchanting medieval town Cozy hotel with welcoming and extremely helpful staff, well located in the medieval town. [Yes it is worth the the trouble to get to Banksa Stiavnica!] Breakfast (5 Euro) offers cheeses, meats, yogurt and eggs cooked to order. Laundry service available. Very good wifi. One English TV channel (CNN). Banska Stiavnica is a real gem—every bit as charming as towns on the Alsace wine route but much less visited. To reach it, take the train to Zvolen (there are two stops, be careful to get out at the main station: Osobna stanica), cross the street to the bus station and ask for the bus to Banska Stiavnica (possibly lane 3). You can buy a ticket on board the bus (2.10 Euro) for the 45 minute trip. From the Banska Stiavnica bus terminal get a taxi in the adjacent supermarket parking lot for 1.50 euro to the hotel.…
The hotel has a very good location and nice stuff. Our room had windows ending on a balcony, where other guests passed by, so we had to use the curtains. There were many signs of the fact, that the hotel needs renovation and more money from the owners: no glass on the hot tube (only pvc curtain, broken lamp etc), very old towels. Definitely not suitable for honeymoons. But apart from this, the room was cosy and we slept well. Cheese-paring (or perhaps economical problems) of the owner was seen on the breakfast, too. Ham, salami and cheese was apparently cheaper one one can buy in Slovakia. Other problem is the parking. Parking place is only for 2 cars parking without larger problems and without disturbing each other and risking some damages. However, all the cars of the guests have to park there. We wake up early and leaved, so other guests which were blocked by our car could leave too, but I cannot imagine what would happen if we wished to sleep longer and other guest have to leave before. Once again, the personnel was very nice and helpful, although they had to do everything - the same lady prepared breakfast and simultaneously worked at the reception. Thank to both of the ladies from evening and from morning working time and thank to the fact that we like this town very much was our overall feeling from this hotel good. But the owner should solve many issues to make his hotel better.…
24 hour easy going staff. Breakfast was great. We were only planning on staying one night but ended up staying for three. Room was beautifully finished with lovely towel arrangement. Only complaint was the shower rose was too low and the hot water took a long time to come.
This hotel has very friendly staff, rooms are adequately furnished, the location is nice in the centre of Banska Stiavnica. The internet is only available via wi-fi, which, however, only works in the rooms close to the reception. Also, there are other small issues - the room was not perfectly clean on arrival, at breakfast we were once given milk that was (very) off... Breakfast is a sad affair anyway, but at least it's relatively cheap. The hotel is a bit overpriced - for roughly the same price as a "small suite" (more like a room, really) in Salamander (where we were mostly the only guests, the hotel and the town in general were empty) we got a large suite in the centre of Bratislava! However, even with these issues, the stay was pleasant, mostly thanks to the staff.
