We visited there for my friends 50th birthday. For the moment we arrived the staff couldn't be more helpful. The room was very large. Food was really excellent. The only thing that let it down was the crockery in the bar was a bit cafe i.e. Plain white. Something fancier would have suited the class of the place. It's only...

My lovely daughters got me present for afternoon tea here in Castle Durrow for Christmas. I heard a lot of good things about this place but now I got to experience myself.. This place is magical.. just when you arrive you can see how well looked after this place is. Beautiful gardens all blooming with spring flowers. Our afternoon tea...

The place is magical. Wonderful food and service and the rooms are so unique and different with tons of character at really good value for money. I cannot recommend this place enough. The town of Durrow is also beautiful with a cozy pub by the river just outside the castle gates. Amazing on a sunny day.

Food was excellent and the service was awful. We were almost finished by the time the ketchup and vinegar was brought to us, the orders were mixed up and we were swapping steaks across the table. One person ordered no onions, he got onions and I got none. By the time the onions arrived everyone else had finished eating, the...

The service, surroundings and food were superb, and all added up to a wonderful, memorable celebration of the wedding at which we were guests. The ability to serve an excellent dinner to so many guests was really impressive. Sadly, the good impression was tarnished when we went to the hotel for a bar lunch the following Monday. We were told...

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights to attend my nieces wedding. The place was amazing and the grounds were specular and very well laid out. You can go for long walks around the grounds. The accommodation was very good and our room was very spacious with comfortable beds. The dining room was very nice and the menu was...

Castle Durrow is our treat, a guilty pleasure... a gift for us, from us. We went here (again) with our 6 and 8 year old to celebrate a wedding anniversary. We ate in the bar and couldn't fault a thing. The food was fantastic, and even the kids menus chicken nuggets were more 100% chicken chunks.... and a very decent...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Castle Durrow is located in the heart of the village. A fully restored, magnificent 300 year old Mansion with luxurious bedrooms each with their own atmosphere. Our restaurant is located in stunning south-facing rooms, decorated with mirrors and hand blocked wallpaper, our head chef creates delicious seasonal menus, popular with visitors and locals alike. We are a terrific place to relax and let romance and Guinness de-stress the mind and body in our cosy bar and reception rooms. In the Magnificent garden, with fabulous scented borders and a walled garden, from where our chefs pick their daily produce, you can stroll around for hours or have a more vigorous walk by the river and in the hills adjoining the castle. A stay at the castle with Dinner and some romance would not be complete without a beauty treatment in our salon , aptly named the Powder box ! ... more   less
