Castle Durrow is located in the heart of the village. A fully restored, magnificent 300 year old Mansion with luxurious bedrooms each with their own atmosphere. Our restaurant is located in stunning south-facing rooms, decorated with mirrors and hand blocked wallpaper, our head chef creates delicious seasonal menus, popular with visitors and locals alike. We are a terrific place to relax and let romance and Guinness de-stress the mind and body in our cosy bar and reception rooms. In the Magnificent garden, with fabulous scented borders and a walled garden, from where our chefs pick their daily produce, you can stroll around for hours or have a more vigorous walk by the river and in the hills adjoining the castle. A stay at the castle with Dinner and some romance would not be complete without a beauty treatment in our salon , aptly named the Powder box !

"Disappointing Stay at this hotel. Musty Rooms and Lack of Basic Amenities" I had a one-night stay at this castle last August and due to unforeseen circumstances did not have a chance to write this review earlier. To be honest, it was quite a letdown. The room I was initially assigned (one of the garden rooms, not in the castle) was musty and damp, not the fresh and inviting atmosphere I was hoping for. To make matters worse, there was a noticeable stain on the bed and no TV in the room. The rugby World Cup was on and I wanted to watch a match. Staff were not aware, there was no TV in my room. Dust seemed to be everywhere, which made me question the cleanliness of the place. After expressing my concerns to the bar man he spoke to the receptionist, about the missing TV, I was moved to another room. While it was a slight improvement, it still had that musty and damp smell, along with a generous amount of dust. To add to the disappointment, there was no hot water during my stay, and I was woken up in the early hours of the morning by the banging of pipes behind the wall of my bed When I brought the lack of hot water to the attention of the receptionist at check out, I barely received an apology, let alone any offer to reduce our bill for the inconvenience caused. This lack of accountability and customer service was disheartening, especially considering that castle Darrow claims to be a reputable establishment. In conclusion, I cannot recommend this hotel, certainly not a garden room and for the cost of a stay here based on my experience. The musty rooms, stains on the bed, lack of basic amenities like a TV, and overall cleanliness issues were unacceptable. It's disappointing when a hotel falls short of expectations, and the lack of proper response from the staff only added to the frustration. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the hotel management to address these issues and improve their services. One good aspect was the friendly bar man and the food was nice in the restaurant.

Overall we had a nice stay in Durrow Castle. The dinner & breakfast was delicious & served by very friendly and polite staff. However we had booked a room for three ladies and had requested three beds! When we arrived we got the key to a room with a large four poster & a single bed which meant two people needed to share! When we spoke to Ailish on reception she gave us a family room which consisted of a four poster, bunk beds and a single small bed for a child? This we found very disrespectful as all three of us are over sixty years of age! We felt lack of caring at front desk and we’re not asked when checking out if we enjoyed our stay!

Castle Durrow is a beautiful venue with the most professional, accomdating and kind staff. We got married here and also dined in Coopers restaurant on two occasions. The food was excellent on both occasions. We were looked after so well on the day of our wedding, everything was seamless and all of our guests commented on how beautiful the venue was, as well as, how lovely the staff were. A special mention has to be given to the fabulous breakfasts we had each morning, and to the two most hard working owners I have ever met-Tessa and Robyn, who were ever present throughout our time there and so lovely to deal with. There was nothing they could not organise or arrange. The rooms in the castle are stunning and all so different. After a lovely breakfast take some time to walk around the beautiful gardens which are a treat in themselves.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Castle Durrow and their staff. We had the BEST wedding day and have memories to treasure for a lifetime. The whole day from start to finish was fantastic. The reception staff, waiters and waitresses could not do enough for me and the guests on the day of our wedding. Espresso martinis in a resident's bar is something I have never seen but it was a massive hit! The food is something that every guest has commented on, it was outstanding. The chefs are fantastic and everyone LOVED their food. The vegetarian guests told me that they had never been so well fed at a wedding. We also went for dinner at the restaurant the following night and I am still thinking about the delicious food we were served! As I was planning the wedding from abroad, I relied a lot upon communication via phone or email. Tessa and Eilish were always very helpful over the phone or via email and made the planning process easy. The venue is stunning and the details in every room you walk into are exquisite. I would highly recommend to any future bride or any holiday maker to pay a visit. Thank you CD team, I hope to be back very soon!

My friends and I went for a dinner this evening, we had a lovely meal and the staff who served us at our table were very pleasant. As we were leaving, one of the waitresses who didn’t serve at our table at all, stopped me asked me if we have paid our bill. I think that was a very bad way to treat your customer. Did she think that we will just get up and walk out without paying for our meal? Instead of leaving feeling that we had a lovely meal, we left feeling insulted.

We had stayed here before and were very much looking forward to staying again. The hotel is very pretty, clean and cosy and the staff friendly and helpful. However our night took a bad turn when we retired to our room. Unfortunately we had a large dog directly outside our window who barked incessantly throughout the night. Having both driven long distances to stay here we were both very tired and having to endure a more or less sleepless night did not bode well. We did phone to lodge a complaint but heard nothing in response.

We tried to book Castle Durrow loads of times for a night away to celebrate our anniversary and get away from the kids for a night. The hotel is always busy at weekends with weddings. Managed to get a deal for dinner, bed and breakfast and had an amazing stay. When booking, I mentioned it was our anniversary so there was a lovely note welcoming us and offering a complimentary drink each at reception. I had worried that the place would be very stuffy and formal, but I need not have worried. The staff are lovely and friendly. Our dinner (steak and pork loin) was delicious and served quickly. There were great cocktails in the bar afterwards so I treated myself to a Negroni. I had accidentally booked the Lord Ashbrook (honeymoon) Suite which was huge with a four poster bed, 2 couches and a dining table and honestly the quietest place we've ever slept. For breakfast I had Shak Shuka for the first time and cleared the lot. Herself had the full Irish with no complaints. Checkout was quick and efficient with the affable Robin. We'll definitely be back.

Terrible experience, stayed in a damp mouldy garden room. The smell in the room as soon as you opened the door was over powering. Mentioned the dampness to the receptionist she just said she'd pass it on. The bed appeared wet it was so damp, and the smell from the bed linen was rotten. The only thing I took away from the hotel was a bad cold. The breakfast was heated in a bambere served with out of date yogurts.
