Myself and my wife got married in Castle Durrow on the 29th of April 2022 and we spent 3 nights there in total including having our day 2 in the Clubhouse at Castle Durrow.i can honestly say it was the best couple of days we've ever had. If you're looking for a place that you can treat as home then this is the place. It's a very different wedding venue and nothing like you've ever experienced. All of our friends and family are still raving about it. The food, staff and constant attention to detail was exceptional. I couldn't recommend this venue enough. A special thanks to Tessa and Rob and also Pam and John and I think Donie was the other bar man.
Had Sunday lunch today 24th April. So looking forward to visiting Castle Durrow as we have always enjoyed our visits pre covid. Booked on website table for 2 which was waiting for us. We found €45.00 per person for 3 course very expensive. The choice of main course very limited. My husband chose lamb which was very tough and lamb this of year should be at its best. On the wine list a glass of white was €7. We had two glasses . On askingfor the bill we found we were charged for 3 glasses @€8 per glass. the service was very hit and miss. It was as if the young staff had no training. And no one in charge. We left feeling very disappointed. We will wait some time before returning as Castle durrow is only reopen since March but the price of €45 is way overpriced in my opinion for the quality and service of our visit.…
We had our wedding here and it couldn't have been a better experience. Thanks to Tessa, Robin and John for being such legends. I would advise everyone to get married here for the craic, ceoil and food
Very disappointing Sunday lunch. Extremely poor selection on the menu. Would have expected better for a location such as this. Certainly not worth €45 for three courses. The last time we had lunch here was pre-COVID, the standard of the food and menu selection has dropped since then.
Went for a Sunday lunch as a family. Food was nice, menu very limited but it was okay. The service needed attention to detail. We placed our ordered, after this 4 other staff members asked if we had ordered. No one seemed to have a section or area they were looking after. Just going with the flow. Starters and mains were served with no issues. Dessert, felt like they had given up. Ordered desserts, kids got their desserts. We waited and waited and waited.... Had to remind them of the dessert. They apologized and returned with desserts just not what we'd ordered. We said it was okay, we'd waited 20-30 min for desserts so to send them would take too long. Overall a very average meal, service could improve. But it has only just re opened. Maybe they are finding their feet. Will return again. But may wait a few weeks before we head back…
It's said 'One hasn't truly lived until they have loved'.. Well this week as we steered up the driveway to Castle Durrow as guests to a wedding, I couldn't help but wonder with anticipation what beauty this remarkable building would hold within. From the moment we entered we were in awe at the character, high pillars, magnificent stained glass, then the warm and friendly welcoming smile. Having travelled from Donegal we were looking forward to being shown, firstly to our room and then to the restaurant. When the door opened to our suite "Lady Sara" we were even more amazed at the grandeur and beautifully finished design and of course the fabulous 4 poster bed. I can honestly say I can't recall when I last slept as well as I did here!!! The food in the restaurant was exceptional, with such a mouth watering taste that it revived us!! The wedding venue was excellent, plenty of staff attending to every need, and I was delighted to have spoken to some of the staff to gather information on its history. We really enjoyed our stay here so much so we intend coming back. Castle Durrow is truly a remarkable gem, with very friendly and professional staff with such a homely feel you'd forget you were in the centre of an iconic and listed 300 odd year old Castle. Thank you everyone here for making us feel that little bit special, you've certainly won us over. Gary and Sarah Doherty Donegal.…
Room cold. When I complained problem was put back to me in an aggressive manner. In all my years staying at hotels I have never been treated in such a derogatory way. This is my first ever negative review of a hotel which underlines my strength of feeling. Would not recommend this hotel if this is representative of their attitude to guests.
Our family had the most amazing two days in Castle Durrow. Food was amazing Staff exceptional. The castle is decorated with the most beautiful pieces for Christmas. Warm friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended.
We recently stayed over night for the night on which we were supposed to be married at the Castle, but had to postpone due to Covid-19. Our party of 4 enjoyed the experience immensely and ALL the staff went out of their way to accommodate our every whim. We loved every minute of it and look forward to our wedding in February and many more weekends at the Castle over the years. For anyone thinking about visiting, this place ticks all the boxes!!
This is a fantastic castle for a weekend break, or a special occasion. The rooms are spacious and well kitted out, the staff are magnificent, and the grounds are a joy to walk through. If you’re looking for a little break from all things COVID, then this is the place to come to.
