Detailed Reviews
We booked into the Castle Arms Hotel for one nights B&B as we had a birthday party just down the road. From the moment I made the call to reserve a room I just knew this was going to be a good experience.
We had a great meal as part of a Valentines special deal and the quantity along with quality of the food was fantastic. We were upgraded to the Honeymoon Suite which had a four poster bed along with beautiful furniture.
Breakfast the next morning was so tasty and I am sure the secret must be local products - bacon was amazing.
We will be back so thank you to Sean, Andrea and Mairead for making our Valentines night stay just perfect. Compliments to the chef and team.

I read these reviews when considering where to stay. I hope others do when dealing with this Hotel.
I booked into this hotel on the phone on a Monday and had to cancel on a Wednesday due to a serious family issue which I conveyed to the Hotel. I then looked at my credit card and half the cost of the stay was taken out. I then looked at my email reservation which I received after the booking and saw the following;
"If you wish to cancel your reservation please do so one week prior to your arrival
In the Event that a guest does not turn up on the arrival date & does not cancel the reservation the full amount will be taken."
It doesn’t state that if you cancel in advance of the arrival date that the booking will be charged and in addition none of this was declared on the telephone booking.
I had to ring the Hotel 3 times before they even got back to me. Although, when they did the girl that I spoke with was very helpful and I asked her to get the GM to phone me. I'm still waiting and that was 5 days ago (incl. 2 days over weekend).
As an aside, the family member that had the issue was due to stay in D4 hotel in Dublin on the same weekend and I explained his situation to that Hotel. They had no issue with cancellation and brought forward no charge.
I have never written on this forum before so this alone points at my displeasure at our treatment by this Hotel. It’s not the money that gnaws at me it’s the attitude of the Hotel GM. Surely he realises that he should deal with customer complaints (particularly in the current environment) and not take the soft option of brushing it under the carpet or using the Hotel policy line. 1. its not stated Hotel policy as per email I received and 2. the size of this Hotel should be able to deal with complaints individually, amazing how a hotel the size of D4 didn’t quote this line back to us.

In Durrow for a funeral. Had a cup of tea and a scone in the morning. Invited back to the Hotel for our lunch. The staff in this hotel were superb , nothing was a problem. The overall attitude was to keep the customer satisfied and did they just do that. Great food, brilliant staff ,not forgetting Michelle who made sure that we got what we wanted as she knew we were under pressure for time. The owner has a hands on approach and make sure that his customers are satisfied.Good genuine Irish hospitality . Leave the motorway if you need lunch and you wont be dissappointed. Great location ,plenty of parking and the locals are very welcoming. 10 out of 10

My mother, sister, and I visited this past July and it was an excellent and enjoyable stay. The staff from the restraunt/bar to the manager of the hotel were extremely friendly and warming. The manager gave us a personal tour of Durrow in his own car and gave us a wonderful history on this quaint little Irish town. He is an extremely bright and knowledgeable man on subjects from family history to Durrow and Irish history. It was great to meet some of the town women who meet at the bar and sing songs on certain nights of the week. And there was even a traditional Irish dancing and music session in the hotel. Excellent, excellent. I was able to truly see what life was like for the Irish.

Was attending a wedding in Castle Durrow, and stayed here as it was a lot cheaper. The breakfast is available until 11am also.

Stayed here with my partner while attending a wedding in another nearby hotel. I didn't expect much giving other reviews but I was quite surprised with the quality of the room. Room was nicely decorated & maintained however there was a few minor cleaning issues e.g. gathered dust behind handbasin pedistal etc.
Breakfast following morning lovely with the exception of the puddings, overpowering flavour and don't taste like any other breakfast pudding. Staff very friendly & helpful.

We stayed in the Castle Arms as we were going to a wedding in Castle Durrow nearby and it is a perfect location for same as short walk up the drive. We arrived down at 12.30, got a warm welcome, and room was ready which was great as we needed to change for the 2pm wedding. Great size room with double and single bed and lots of room to walk around. Breakfast the following morning was very nice, good choice, and plenty of food. We had a nice chat with the staff before we left.

Easily found, right on the corner near the entrance to Castle Durrow, this restaurant serves up some delicious lunchtime meals. As evidenced by the many locals we saw dining there, this is a great choice for a mid day meal or dinner after a day's exploring and one can chose either to eat at the bar or one of the many window-side tables while watching the locals outside go about their day. The beef and pork dishes, complete with all the trimmings were of a belt-busting size and just the ticket to accompany a cold Bulmers! Enjoy.

The staff could not have done enough to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. Too many names to mention each person. The general manager was also extremely kind. He even gave me a lift into the next town, TWICE! On the way back he took me on a mini guided tour of the area. That is the kind nature of the Irish that I came across. He even asked one of his staff to give me a lift one day. Where would you get that? The free breakfast was first class! Rooms are a little dated but still very comfortable with tea and coffee, clean white towels and two bottles of mineral water each day in your room. The dinners are excellent value also. Dancing and singing on the Sunday in the ballroom. Do not moan about the band, join in the fun!!!

We were going to a wedding in the area and booked 3 night's bed and breakfast with an evening meal on our last night. The ensuite room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast in the morning was great and kept us going well into the afternoon. Dinner was very tasty. The craic in bar was god fn nd Joseph and the staff are very friendly.
