Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here whilst attending a wedding nearby.
I've stayed in many hotels this year for weddings etc and this is by far thee most enjoyable stay by far. In fact all the high profile hotels could learn quite a lot from the staff and management here.

The hotel is spotless, absolutely spotless!
The pride of staff in work is so evident and their friendlies and willingness to help is so refreshing.
Breakfast was lovely!
Rooms are big and well equipped and the bathroom was so bright and airy with a long mirror! It's the small things! But all the small things add up to a great hotel which this is - will definitely be back.

Popped in here to meet family for a couple of hours who stayed the previous night. We had some coffees and lunch. From the minute we arrived, we were greeted with a very friendly lady on reception. All of the staff were exceptional, attentive and engaging. The children's food was really good quality and the coffees were fab. It wouldn't be too often i'd leave a review, having just spent a short time in a place but I had to leave a review to commend the staff for a friendly welcoming venue. Also the guests who stayed overnight were really impressed with the breakfast, I will have to book in myself sometime in the future!! :)

Stopped in for food on Monday evening before continuing our journey to the place we were staying at during the ploughing match and then returned for food on all 3 days of the ploughing match. I have to say the food was amazing and stayed Thursday night with my partner and the room we stayed in which was room 30 was amazing. My complements to the owners/
management and all the staff. Each and everyone of you guys and girls were very accommodating in each and every way. My partner loved your mint aero cheesecake and it was a dessert that had to be go each evening. Will definitely be back for another visit in the near future. I will definitely tell people a good place to stay if they are ever up this direction. I am leaving with a smile on my face and the longing to return again.

Until next time I return we look forward to the next visit

We stayed in the Castle Arms Hotel for an event that was taking place in the hotel itself. Having never stayed here before and it being a 2 star hotel I thought €145 for a double room was a bit on the high side to start with and that’s not including breakfast either at an additional €20 extra approximately depending what breakfast you choose. Either they were cashing in on the event or their pricing structure needs reviewing as a 3 star hotel 10 mins away was €43 cheaper and included breakfast for the same night.

The room itself was clean but needs a refurb as I’ve seen better rooms in B&B’s in comparison for less money. Seals around both windows are in poor condition (draughts coming in around the window sash and room losing heat quicker as a result) as were the handles and locking mechanism, the radiator bracket has come away from the wall and is dropping down on one side as a result. There was no hot water at all during our night stay and this issue was raised with the owner who apologised as there was an issue with the boiler system. In the en-suite I don’t recall seeing PVC panelling all around the walls in a hotel before. In general the room and en-suite along with accessories need a freshen up and modernised somewhat.

On the positive side the dinner and breakfast were excellent with plenty of options on the menus and good value.

In summary if I was passing again I would stop for food but I would not stay at the hotel again based on the price charged and condition of the room for that money.

Good morning David You should not have been charged for your breakfast as that is included in the price for your room. Please contact the hotel and we will be happy to issue you a refund and I sincerely apologise for this error. Kind Regards Emma

From emailing to enquire about a stay and a meal for 45, to landing and being treated like old friends, the Castle Arms Hotel team and venue were fantastic.

We stayed for two nights and had a meal booked for 45 for a family occasion. The booking and communication was excellent. We changed numbers on the day and it was no bother at all. The meal for 45 was so tasty, hot and we all ate together.

We had meals there as well, lunch and breakfast and both were gorgeous. The soup on each day was delicious, and not just because we were drowned with the welcoming Irish weather! :) I'm a bit of a fussy eater and they changed sandwiches for me no bother. The room was spacious and warm, and the bed was really comfy. The hospitality was exceptional, with Joseph even offering to drive us to our old family home (as it was the directions got us there no problem) the Castle Arms Hotel and all its team made us feel like a long lost friend returning home, which in a way we were. I highly recommend everything about this place..... If only the weather had been as warm as the welcome

I travel all over Ireland for work and I have stayed in every hotel in Ireland at this stage. I have to say the castle arms is just the definition of hospitality and comfort. The double bed in room 18 is the bed people dream of. Comfort at its best. The staff are very genuine also. Lovely friendly atmosphere and just easy going all around. (Food) I ordered the steak from the menu (medium) and I have to say it was just amazing. Probably one of the best steaks I had in a long time. I recommend this hotel highly.

We stayed in the hotel as we were attending a funeral nearby and had a ways to travel. The experience was fabulous from atart to finish. Met Monica at reception who made the arrival very easy. Rooms were very neat, spacious and clean. We had food in the bar and it was served by very friendly and well trained staff. Breakfast menu was excellent and very tasty. I would highly recommend the hotel and I would hope to be back another time for a happier occasion. Thank you to all concerned.

We stayed here recently because we were attending a nearby wedding. When we arrived the room hadn't been cleaned but given we were early checking in you could excuse this. However upon return to our room, it wasn't clean, our bed hadn't been stripped properly from the previous visitor- their sheet was still on our 'freshly' made bed. Also the bin wasn't emptied.
The bathroom was filthy.
Given there is no night porter in the hotel there wasn't much we could do only sleep over the covers.
Very disappointing- the hotel needs to address their cleaning standards.
