Travellers' Choice
Choosing U Capu Biancu is above all an original choice of vacation location, because nothing here is like anywhere else! The unique setting, with the disconcerting beauty of omnipresent nature… The rooms, each one of a kind and born of our travels, filled with friendly dreams… The dining table, orchestrated by a chef from far away… The intimate spa, 100% nature… The beach, all your own, of course the heated infinity pool, its Jacuzzi bubblier than Champagne… The team, happy to be there, happy to serve you… The concept: life without artifice, natural luxury…

Hotel's Favourite
We had been out on our boat in the morning and got recommended to try this place for lunch. We arrived, anchored up and a guy came out on a rib to run us to the jetty. The cove this place is in is stunning and the restaurant is really tastefully decorated. The staff were fun, attentive and were really welcoming. We sampled a lot of their cocktails which were delicious and the food was incredible. It’s not the cheapest place but was well worth it. The only thing I would offer as an improvement is to have more vegetarian options. If you’re near there go, but probably book ahead.

The main restaurant not to compete on international level, "room for improvements". Infrastructure and place is very nice, the rooms are what a difference which is very stylish and will surprise you. We enjoy it very much.

Nice property, beautiful grounds, good rooms with interesting decor, great pool. The restaurant was delicious for dinner. We also at breakfast there which had lots of options. The staff is friendly and helpful. We only speak a little French but many of the staff are able to speak English. Great location about 20 minutes from Bonifacio as well as many great beaches in the area.

To the hotel and all potential travelers to U Capu Biancu,

I rarely write reviews about places unless I feel it is neccessary to share some thoughts that I believe will benefit potential visitors or the hotel. But in this case, and after spending one week at U Capu Biancu, there are some features that where not clear to me before I actually came to the hotel.

 ——

The good - The hotel is situated in a peaceful corner in the south of Corsica. In this part of the Mediterranean (and in Southern France in particular), I believe that is almost impossible to find a hotel where you can overlook a fjord with an untouched scenery. The waters are pristine, full of marine life, and the hotel have three long beaches with natural sand and rocks. I read that the beach were full of sharp rocks, I found this not to be true, and I think this might be one of the best beaches I have ever visited.

The pool area is well designed with a lot of romantic hideouts.

The common areas of the hotel are spaceous and have a chic French design. The hotel workes at the reception is attentive, and I felt being in safe hands when my luggage was delayed and I hot no answers from the airline. The hotel also have a nice shop with unique designs.

Although expensive, the 3.5 hours boatride was amazing. You really feel like a superstar riding an exclusive boat with an experienced captain, who shows you exciting caves, cliffs, lagoons and offers swims in reservates where you can swim among hundreds of fish in the clearest waters.

 ——

The bad - The hotel room was small regarding the pricepoint of the hotel. However, I do not think that anyone should spend too much time in their room when staying at this hotel.

The breakfast dishes did not change too much, and the juices, bread and ham where not refilled as often as it should. Too many times many guests had to wait for more plates, and the waitors did not attend to this unless asked. The coffee was also tasteless, and they should offer other coffee types such as regular filter coffee and French press. This is a reasonable demand regarding the prices of the hotel.

Cocktails of the bar are not worth the price, and I am sure that they to over-water the cocktails. For 16 euros I should expect an excellent Amaretto Sour, but it did not taste like Amaretto at all. We tried several other of their drinks during their stay, but none of their cocktails where even close to our expectations. Also, they often serve some biscuits with chili seasoning along the drinks, that do not blend well together. The bartenders rarely attend to the guests unless you come up to the bar.

The bar at the beach only serve beverages. There is no good reason that they could not serve snack such as peanuts, chips, etc that do not require a frige.

The English level of the hotel is not good enough. By this, I do not mean that everyone should master English, but I found only two workers at the hotel that could speak English well enough to understand international guests.

The hotel is very remote and their is no shop close to the hotel. The wifi connection is also poor at the pool and at the beaches.

 ——

The ugly - DOGS: I was surprised to experience that the hotel is letting dogs roam freely at the hotel. By this, I mean big dogs such as pointers, setters, etc. They were disturbing both the breakfast area and we had dinner at the restaurant, running below the tables and begging for food. At one occasion, the hotels own dog (a black, long coated one), scared a child and a baby at the restaurant and refused to move. NONE of the waitors at the hotel did anything, and I had to run into the breakfast hall to get someone. Later the same day, we met a pointer (a type of dog) that came to our sunbeds and showed its teeth and growling towards us. I am used to dogs, but this was a scary experience. After some time with these dog issues and no one attending to this, I had to make it very clear at the restaurant that we where not ok with dogs begging for food at our table. After this, we did not see many dogs during the rest of our stay - but if you have children, are afraid of big dogs running around without their owners, or if you are allergic, you have to check with the hotel. I found it to be totally unacceptable that the hotel did let this to happen with the excuse that «these are family dogs of the hotel», but I found zero information about this on their website and we would NEVER stay at the hotel if we knew this beforehand.

RESTAURANT: The overall experience of the restaurant was underwhelming, especially the main courses. For a main course, a dessert, a small bottle of sparkling water and a glass of whine, you pay around 150-160 euros. The main courses did not taste too much, and the chicken meals where so dry that I believe that most street vendors could make it better. Their most expensive meal, the lobster (79 euro), is the most mistreated lobster meal I have ever tasted. I do fish and prepare a lot of lobster myself, so I do know a thing or two about cooking lobsters. The restaurant absolutely drowns the lobster in poorly made tomato sauce and gelly-like pasta. It would have been better served alone. In my opinion, they should remove it entirely from the menue. The waitors are uneducated regarding the wines, and they did never recommend a wine for our meals (and those we got rarely went well with the meals).

The restaurant area us is also full of wasps, and we had to fight of 5-10 of them every night. The waitors should have noticed this and prepared some traps, which are easy to make. When finishing up our meals, we also had to wait half an hour at the least to get the bill.

Overall, the restaurant is not nearly as good as it pricepoint. As a reference, we visited a Michelin mentioned restaurant at the local village of Bonifacio called «Da Passano», where we got an excellent four-course meal, a big bottle of sparkling water, a bottle of local whine, two amazing cocktails and an outstanding service for 160 euros. The same price as the hotel restaurant asked for two course, two glasses of whine, sparkling water.

——

 VERDICT

This is a chic and romantic hotel with a beatyful and calm scenery. The beaches and the pool area is amazing. However, the hotel has to do something about their dog-problem and the restaurant has to get a major overhaul in terms of price, quality and staff.

Other hotels that do not have these issues and with a similar price-point that you should check out are «Hotel Les Roches Rouges» in St Raphael or «Villa del Golfo» in Sardinia.

Just had a very enjoyable week at the U Capu Bianca. The hotel really does give out the kind of atmosphere that the owners wanted to achieve. The staff are very attentive and provide excellent service. We had a great day out on the hotel boat skippered by Gilles and Romain who were fantastic and gave us a real day out exploring the local coastline and beaches. The food was excellent although I would not recommend the lamb, the skewers I had were full of sinews and the rack of lamb very chewy !!! A minor detail on a superb week

We spent 9 nights at this peaceful Hotel. We were looking for a peaceful and relaxed - but luxurious stay. And U Capu mainly delivered. Positives. The (very) friendly staff. The peaceful beaches (NO MUSIC !). The rugged, Corsican scenery. The terrace - quiet and with a beautiful view. The pool. Breakfast (excellent choice, great to be able to fill your own coffee, fresh, home-grown eggs). In the middle of nature - flora and fauna. Why not 5 Star ? We booked a Junior Suite with a view of the Sea. We were shown to a room which was nothing like the pictures - the view was of a car-port with the sea somewhere over to the left. We complained - and asked to be moved - and we were - to a room that had a terrace with a view of the sea. If you don't get a nice room - ask. This is a tranquil and "exclusive" hotel. For 2 days there was a small conference which took over breakfast and suddenly it was not the same. We understand the need to make money - but this is not what the hotel is about. Noise, corporate ambience.... One of the reasons we came was that we had previously visited the beach-side restaurant. The one advertised on the site etc. When we arrived we were told it was not open, due to "staffing". As this left only one choice, and it is 20 mins to "town" this was a huge disappointment. Surely this should have been advertised on booking ? Overall - a magical environment, and sitting on a virtually deserted and totally quiet beach made the holiday truly special. And a particular mention to Maxime who helped us with a rental car and was a particularly happy and helpful member of the staff

My wife and I had to pause our booking for two years due to the pandemic. The hotel was able to keep our booking at the specifications as originally booked. Hotel U Capu Biancu is simply perfect. The entire staff of the property knew who we were, what language we spoke, even when and where our dinner reservations were. From the check in to check out the staff were attentive to our every want and need. The food is based off local ingredients never left you empty or without satisfaction; only excitement to try something else on the following meal. Each of their dinner options is an experience and highly recommend trying all at least once. The picnic + boat ride to a private beach is a must, was definitely a highlight of the trip.
