Located on the edge of a beach worthy of a postcard and built of natural materials scattered among the vegetation (coconut trees, banana trees, tamarind trees, etc.) for swimming in crystal clear waters, the fine sand beach is located in a small well-sheltered cove approximately 500 meters long, with no visible habitation). Truly sublime.
The accommodation offers rudimentary comfort but the sleeping arrangements are good. These are wooden cabins, with palm leaf roofs, with various openings. The ventilation at night is poor, it is hot. No internet, No power outlets but one lamp per accommodation. Very basic sanitary facilities but who cares, we are simply very comfortable there.
We stayed there 4 nights; grandparents, 2 parents and 1 child and we were all charmed.
Lunch and dinner meals must be reserved in the morning. To be enjoyed without hesitation: fresh products, deliciously prepared by local staff. Breakfast served between 8 and 10 a.m., a treat.
Located more than 20 minutes walk from the port, the most comfortable is to take a panga taxi (count 10 € per person per trip. The lodge can arrange a transfer by private panga from the port of Big Corn to the lodge. We We took it for the return, very practical.
Thank you to Ramon, his delightful family and all his staff for this magnificent break in this little corner of paradise.

If you’re looking for adventure and relaxing, eñuenos is the place to stay! Although there is no AC or hot water, the lodge is designed to allow people to experience more of nature. There is an outdoor shower and open kitchen where you can stone bake your food or cook over a fire! The hammocks are absolutely magical when the stars come out and the northern breeze hits! On top of the environment, the staff are some of the most amazing people you will ever meet. I hope to see Kira’s puppies one day!

It was my fourth trip to Little Corn Island end to Ensuenos... what can I say more?
If you want peace, quietness, a perfect beach for yourself and friendly owners, then it's the place to go! I will definitly go back next year. And even if la Isleta is getting more gringos and is a bit more develop than it was when I first set foot here, its still a magical place. I love it!

We got off the tiny boat and started to walk to ensuenos. Undoubtedly a lovely spot, let down by the owner. We booked for a week, but on arrival - no c sheets - no security - no power - well, we expected this but we were a day late - Nica is famous for its chilled atmosphere - and when we go there Ramon Gil the owner was furious because we did not tell him. Plain and simple we couldn't - we also did not ask for dinner. We had to pay 25 dollars each for the privilege of missing a dinner we did not book. So, we guessed we had got over that bit - stayed the night, but to be honest - it was alot more ramshackle than the website looked - the toilet was disgusting out in the forest - no clean water - huts were terrible - like made from driftwood. Now we are chilled people - backpackers - which was fine - but the price. He wanted 100 dollars each a night for the cabins - we could have nearly bought the land for that!!!! So, we decided to say - look- feel a bit let down - nothing is anywhere near clean - and, this is more expensive than the most expensive hotel on Little Corn, and we are leaving. Thats when he went mad. CAme over to me, 5-10 English - normal - and started shouting in my face. "I WILL NOT BE TREATED LIKE THIS- YOU MADE A PROMISE TO STAY - I WILL HAVE YOU SORTED OUT - YOU DONT KNOW THE RULES AROUND HERE" well, at this point I felt really intimidated. Woah, Psycho alert. So, I looked at my severely hung over mates for some back up - nothing. So, I said, with him still right in my face -" Look, we don't mean to annoy you, we just want to go. " Woah. Wrong thing to say. a flurry of expletives followed, and he squared up to me, I thought I was going to get hit. I said, Mate, your nuts, Turned, with him following me still screaming - yes really screaming - and got my bags. We hurriedly gave some cash to the other French guy - 5 people - 1 night, 1 dinner we ate - and one we missed- 250 bucks between us. You wonder why he was that far away from France and society, it is because he is nuts. So, in summary - Little Corn - Great. Nicaragua - the best place I have been to. Ensueños - Take my advice, get off the boat, book in somewhere else on little Corn, and have a look first. It took us 2 days to get over the Ramon incident, but, I can honestly say I will never forget how Ramon lost it, and the way he screamed me, and one day Ramon, I will be back. Keep watch for me.
PS its good to see it was not just us. Don't trust him.

Ensueños has no electricity and water in the cabins. The food they prepare for 20$!!! per person is the worst we had in Little Corn. They prepared the food without asking for what we can eat and my gf who can't have cheese had to settle for late dinner made of uncooked pasta with tomatoes... like I said paying 20$. They rent snorkels but besides they charge the same as a dive shop all the gear is in terrible shape not to say we found a spider inside a snorkel . Speaking of spiders it is hard not to remember the 2 snakes we had to avoid near the showers...
I can't say it wasn't a rewarding experience though... sleeping with no ligt, having to shower outside making turns with 8 other guests and sometimes showering in the dark(remember... no lights), eating whatever junk food and trying to avoid getting bitten by snakes or spider big as the palm of a hand, makes one stay more allert of creeps trying to rip turists off making them believe that traveling is about living in prehistoric times and paying 21st century prices. And in case someone was wondering... the owner although is trying to give a simple man image lives inside a nice villa wih all the facilities 100m near your prehistoric cave turned into a tourist trap.

When we got to ensuenos it was already dark. The owner Ra was nowhere to be found even though he knew the time when we were arriving. I finally found the dark trail to his house and it said ring the bell. BEWARE when you do that. 3 huge aggressive dogs will come tunning at you. They will stop right in front of you barking until Ra makes his way down there.
The casita was all the way back from the beach, there was a lot of plastic trash lying around on the way there. The casita was stuffy and felt like no one had been in there for quite a while. The "bathroom" is outdoors and the toilet didn't flush.
When asking about water he told me just to drink from the tab.
The bed was very small, my boyfriend wouldn't fit in there without his feet sticking out and there is no breeze whatsoever. The light bulb is solar powered so will last around an hour.
We knew we wanted to leave immediately. We had paid for more than half of the stay 3 out of 5 nights upfront and explained in a nice manner that we couldn't be staying there, me having seen a huge spider and the idea of sleeping there without light terrifying me.
He said his place was the best on the island there was no where else to really go etc.
He also completely refused to give back our deposit even though we wouldn't even stay there one night. We kind of had foreseen that already and didn't bother to argue(his hotel was empty).
The next day he wrote us an email telling us that he thinks its unfair that we didn't pay the full stay and that we could all sit down and talk about it over a beer. We were really irritated at even the thought of paying him any more money.
The next day after we hadn't answered he wrote me a long, horribly insulting email how we were persons with no values and he wished us the worst in life for the future.
True story.

My husband and I were exploring Little Corn and came upon Ensuenos. We had heard about it as a remote place at the far end of the beach. What we had not heard, is that it is a dangerous place for anyone who is unlucky enough to get BITTEN by their german shepard! That's right. I was bitten in the leg, 3 punctures and just because we ventured to the signed reception area to ask for directions. Totally unprovoked. Our experience, since my injury which is in its 3rd week of healing is that.....locals including the owners of Ensuenos have confirmed that this is not the first time the dog has bitten. The owner, tho apologetic at first, made a crude sick joke that the dog was foaming at the mouth and died (a sure sign of rabies for those that wonder) after I suggested he post a BEWARE of dog sign or tie the dog up when he wasn't around. If I were you, I'd take your business elsewhere. There are some great, friendly and friendly dog places further down the beach. Good luck if you decide to go here. Travel with a big stick.

My girlfriend and I traveled to Nicaragua in late 2012 for a three week vacation which concluded on Little Corn Island. Throughout our travels through the country we stayed a cheap hotels and hostels, which were surprisingly nice - good values all around. For our final week in Nicaragua we wanted to splurge and based on reviews thought Ensuenos must be the best on the island. We made reservations for $70 a night and put down a 50% deposit.
To get to Ensuenos from the main town, where the boat dock is, you need to walk for about a half hour. The final twenty minutes are through the jungle along a muddy path. My first walk up, I was excited by the prospect of being so isolated. However, there are a number of good restaurants in town as well as two dive shops and groceries. Unless you plan on spending all your time at Ensuenos, this walk is a huge pain, especially walking back at night.
I strongly suspect that you will not want to spend all your time there. The property is overgrown, set back from the beach and swarming with mosquitoes. The physical structures are poorly maintained and you get the sense that Ramon ('Ra'), the owner, is in way over his head - no capacity to manage a business. He treats the place as if it were a commune and clearly thinks of himself as something of a spiritual guru.
Our casita was a tremendous disappointment. It was nothing like the pleasant-looking thatched huts shown on the website. Instead it is a hideous concrete monstrosity, clearly dreamed up by Ramon during some bad trip. The wooden doors and windows are covered in a sticky, oily sap which gets all over you every time you open a window or walk out the door. The floor is an undulating mess of rocks that are tremendously uncomfortable to walk in. The place was dirty with mold growing all over the walls. It has a kitchen, which was a major draw for us. However, there is nothing in the kitchen - no salt, sugar, oil or other basics. To get anything you'll need to hike back to town and back. The dishes were all dirty from the previous guest. There were no towels and Ramon was not able to hunt any down for us for a full day. He didn't seem to care or find it strange that a hotel that costs 3-4 times more than most on the island didn't have towels. The shower and toilet are outside, which sounded cool on the website. However, there is only an artsy fartsy, broken-glass-accented wall separating you from the outside world - big holes cut out so anyone can see in. This wouldn't be a problem if it were turned away from where people actually walk. But there I was sitting on the john in the morning and Ramon walked past. There is also no overhang above the toilet - not cool if you get out of bed to use it on a rainy night. There is no place to relax outside. No porch or chairs or hammock. Just a roof with another uncomfortable artsy concrete bench that no one would ever want to sit on.
Ok - so the place is a disaster and terribly overpriced. After one hot, uncomfortable night, we went to speak with Ramon about this and ask for a portion of our deposit back. Rather than show an ounce of customer service, he was aggressive, disrespectful, and accused us of being pampered and expecting luxury. When we said we felt deceived by his website presentation, he said he hasn't updated it in 10 years (something to bear in mind if you peruse it). In the end he refused to return any of our deposit and told us to get the [--] out.
So we did - and found a fantastic little beach hut at Elsa's Place for $15/night. The hut was very very basic and small, but exactly what we wanted. This is one of many similar places on the island - I strongly recommend looking into some of these options.

This place could be so beautiful. The brainchild of a wonderful artist, the cabins are one of a kind. The beach is unparalleled on Little Corn. We arrived and fell in love. However, we soon found out that Ensuenos is a classic dystopia.
After choosing a cabin, we waited hours for sheets so we could put our son down for a nap. Eventually, I sought out the owner, and he provided us with thread-bare ratty sheets, and I put them on our bed. As I was doing so, I noticed that there were a couple of cigarette butts on the floor.
We then had a misunderstanding with the chef about supper, and walked to town. Our son became sick near Derek's Place, so we stopped in. When we were greeted with a smile and the offer of a bed (free of charge) for our sick son, we decided to stay there instead.
I walked back to Ensuenos and explained the situation, and paid the owner for the night. He gave me an unsolicited lecture about principles, told me that my partner was running my life, and told me to stop lying about my son. I was then chased out of the establishment by two crazy dogs.
I have never been treated with such disrespect. It took me a long time to get over it.

Entered property with guests, was going to beach to go night snorkeling. Got to beach a bit before ten and then was bit by one of their dogs. My vacation is over. The dog inflicted a deep bite on my leg. Now im doing a course of antibiotics instead of snorkeling. No beware of dog sign or anything. No compensation from Ramon despite the local law. Nointegrity from the owners. just childish behaviour that puts there dogs and other unsuspecting visitors in danger
Read the other reviews, it has happened before and will happen again. Response from ensuenos, Gerente at Ensueños Eco-Lodge
Responded 20 May 2019
My dogs are fine, Mr Tyler. They learn the smell of all our guests and the guests make friends with them. If you come for the first time, at that late hour of the night, my dogs will bark and bite you because that is their work. Their mission is to keep safe our visitors from unexpected nocturnal visits. Such is life when you live in the jungle, my friend. We apologized already with you kindly for the bite and it was only when you came back trying to get an economical profit out of being bitten while you intruding our home while we sleep, that it was a little bit too much. And now you give us this lovely review in Trip advisor - trying to feed a negative vibe against our place and our lovely dog family? Well, my boy, maybe my old dog knew the type of person you were from first smell... they are really smart!
